It has been a very simple Christmas at our house. We’ve cut out a lot of the more toxic aspects (greenery, candles, lights, etc.) which leaves me to get creative when it comes to helping our house feel homey and warm for the holiday. Instead of greens this year we are utilizing other options and textures. I made this paper wreath out of coffee filters to replace our normal green one for inside the house. Grandparents day was last weekend and we totally slacked. I’d love to say that we sent thoughtful cards and picked up the phone and honored the wonderful grandparents that our kids have….but, we didn’t. We forgot. But Taryn’s teacher didn’t and the kids drew a photo of their grandparents in class. When we found this in her folder it was an instant favorite and Jase and I cracked up. This is not my idea or my project, it is one of the many cool things Taryn brings home from pre-k. I absolutely adore her teacher and will miss her during the 6 months between when Taryn starts kindergarten and Teagan starts pre-k. They do a lot of cool things with the kids but I really love this one so I thought I’d share for all my Texas bluebonnet loving momma friends =)

1. I tried hard to pretend today that we weren’t preparing for surgery for our baby on the second Easter in a row. It got to me, no matter how much I tried not to let it. Having children with health problems is hard. And those problems don’t go away on holidays. Teagan’s surgery this week will be one year to the day of his surgery last year.

2. We did manage to do a few fun things with the kids, we died eggs, did an egg hunt in the front yard and we made our annual bunny cake…..I used to make this with my mom when I was a little girl…..

1. It’s not Tuesday, but I’m happy to be blogging. I’m working a ton of hours right now, busy season is in full force!! I’m trying so hard this year to blog all my wonderful clients. Last year a bunch never got blogged. I’m trying to do better this year 🙂

2. Taryn went back to school for the first time since August on Monday. She did amazingly well, we are so proud of her. Their class Halloween party was held yesterday.
