real. three photos, three stories.

When I put up a post last week that I was making an unexpected trip to Houston, my photographer friend Wendi emailed me and grabbed it.  And she knew just what she wanted….”birth photographer Lyndsay to show up”.  Wendi wanted all the little real moment captured of her family at home, doing what they do, eating popcorn, playing, dress up, couch jumping, snuggling in bed, playing legos, painting toenails, all of that and more.  She wanted me to capture them…..living.  I LOVE that.  In fact, when she emailed me about it I shared with her that I’m so smitten with this idea that Jase and I hired someone a few months ago to come in and do the exact same thing for us in the fall.  Real moments, at home, all the little beautiful moments inbetween, they matter.

Story for the first photo…Oliver made his mom this necklace that she was supposed to wear for their last session with me.  Only, Wendi forgot it in Houston and their session was in Austin.  Whoops!  So we made sure that she wore it this go around.  He was so proud.  Is there anything better than a mom with a noodle necklace?!

Story for the second photo…Wendi really wanted to capture the kids in their favorite dressup costumes diving off the couch because this is the daily entertainment.  It’s what they do.  Constantly.    Miss A was about to dive when I caught this and oh my word, it cracks me up!  And while you’d think that Audrey is dressed up as batman, you’d be wrong, very, very wrong.  This is robyn, batman’s trusty sidekick.  I dare ya to tell her otherwise!  HA!

And I also have to share what I spotted right when I walked through their door!  I LOVE it!  That’s another thing about working with photographers that I absolutely love, they always print BIG.  I love what Wendi did with her photos from our last session together.  You’d think it is one big print but it’s not, individual standouts hung together and it’s just perfect!  And the awesome part is, if she ever wants to put something else in this spot, she’s not married to the sheer size of it, she can break it up and move it around.  Brilliant!  And it makes such a statement as you walk in their house, I just fell in love with it.

And now is where I’ll confess to a laugh we shared and hope Wendi doesn’t kill me for sharing.  As I walked in to their bedroom, I noticed a big frame with various photos in it.  But the families in the photos were obviously “frame families” and not anyone she knew.  I laughed, she blushed a little and then I too confessed that I’ve had an entire arrangement hanging in my bedroom (for over a YEAR) with frame families in it.  HA!  What is it they say about plumbers always having leaky faucets?!  Apparently photographers are the same way.  Well, at least these two photographers.  Wendi, don’t worry, I have just the photos for that frame!!

unexpected take two | salado family photographer

My second unexpected, super short notice session for this weekend took place this morning in my absolute favorite location!  This beautiful family is from Waco and when I found out where they live I happily offered to meet them in the middle in Salado because I adore shooting there.  We went exploring by the river (it was actually moving water instead of puddles with all the recent rain!) and then hit a few of my favorite spots around Salado.  Our goal was a few family photos and to get mom in the picture since she’s usually behind the camera.  I can relate to that a little.  Ok, ok, a lot.  And I love it when moms come out of hiding!  The two kiddos were so polite and just full of energy and hugs and smiles and willing to explore with me and chat about anything I threw their way, I loved it!! Wait until you see their full blog post….Mr. C is quite the poser, and quite the thinker, put the two together and it is cute overload!  Ms. K is 6 and missing her two front teeth AND she has fabulous freckles, is there anything better than that?  Yeah, this morning was pretty much photographer heaven for me….my favorite location and amazing new friends!

C family, it was so great to meet you this morning…many more soon!

a beautiful glimpse | cedar park family photographer

It was a lot of fun to surprise this momma and so fun to photograph this family….I loved every.single.second of it.  The good news is, she not only forgave me for the lie I told her but she’s also quickly filling up my “happy” file folder in my inbox with kind words and wonderful, thoughtful emails.  Em, thank you for making me feel so good about what I do!

Now to the pics!  Little miss and I are very close friends now, just ask her, she’ll tell ya 😉  I love love love getting emails from her momma about her funny little conversations about our time together.

And this little guy, one of the happiest toddlers I’ve ever met!  How can he be a toddler, I just blinked and he was a newborn…

I love the shots of just mom and dad!  These…..are my favorites though.  Some of my most favorite sibling shots ever….I want some of this like my kids!

I love this one, Donny is such an amazing Dad.  His love and attention to these two kiddos shows every second they are together.

Another fave….cute little man….

Emily & Donny, thank you for showing up with your hearts on your sleeves, for giving me a beautiful glimpse into your family and love for your children.  I love the way you just soak them in and how you are constantly enthralled with how beautiful, fun and loving they are.  You made my job easy and I hope you love your photographs!

wow | austin photographer

The Dealing for Duchenne event last night was a-mazing.  I’ll be back to blog about it this week, but wow, we’re still letting it all sink in, amazing.

In the meantime, we are taking off with my mom and the kids to the San Antonio Zoo, their other surprise!  Taryn’s dream comes true today….my girl is an animal love through and through.  After we told her about where we would be going I gave her a map I had printed out of the zoo, she’s already formed out game plan!!

And I can’t leave without posting a few photos.  LOVED this session!  So much so that I’ll be back to share just about the entire gallery this week!!

It’s almost time, I’ve also been tying up loose ends with the Dealing for Duchenne fundraiser that is this coming up Saturday at the UT Golf Club.  I know Julie and the other co-chairs have been working so hard to get ready and it’s going to be SO worth it!  It’s not too late to get your tickets, it’s going to be an awesome night, famous people, casino gambling, an auction, all for a great cause!  I am donating a full session to the silent auction, I can’t wait to see who wins it!!  More than anything, I can’t wait to see Tim, Laura, Timmy and Andrew surrounded by love and people helping them make a huge step toward finding a cure for Duchenne.

Tim sent me some great links for some of the media that has been covering the event.  Check it out:

Radio interview Tim did on 104.9 the Horn

And here’s Julie and Kristen on TV this morning.

Sally Brown’s Radio Interview from today.

KEYE is airing a sweet story with Mrs. Sally Brown, Mrs. Julie Applewhite and Timothy tomorrow during the 4pm hour.

There is also a feature on the cover of West Austin News, if you see one, pick it up!

Jason, Ty and I will be going to the event while my mom stays with the littles, super excited!

Not sure what this is?  Click here!

belle | austin newborn photographer

Miss Belle is also a little bitty thing weighing in at around 5 lbs at birth.  I also photographed her birth but I am still working on proofing those images (halfway done Pam!).  Her parents chose to have me proof her newborn photos first so they could get announcements out but I wanted to take a quick break and come share a few.  LOVED this session.  The color, the moments, everything.  When I arrived I asked if they were friendly with their neighbors because it would be great to use the flowers in their yard as a backdrop.  They thought I meant the beautiful, manicured yard two doors down…nope not me….I was drawn the house across the street that hadn’t been mowed since last year.  HA!  Yeah baby….

Uh, have I ever mentioned how much I adore grandpas?  I LOVE cute little old grandpas.  He was so cute with Belle, a confident hand and just in love with her….I love how they are checking each other out in the first one.

And as I was setting them up for a shot on the front porch, I was testing the light, he was getting ready, and both of them sneezed at the same time.  Such a cute moment!

I can’t wait to see this one on canvas….

And then as I was poking around in the nursery looking for things to incorporate into their session, blankets, etc.  I found THIS!!  It pays to be nosey!  HA!  I thought I had died and gone to photographer heaven right then and there!  I mean seriously?!  An original bright red English Pram?!  And bonus, it belonged to her Daddy when he was a baby overseas.

And last but not least, my fave family shots from this session….

Pam & Chris, congratulations on the birth of Belle, she is so beautiful!  It has been a pleasure to get to know you and I look forward to photographing your family again in 6 months!  Birth photos coming soon, promise!!
