in search of fall….

Austin is not exactly known for the changing of the colors…but we managed to find just a little.  Want to know the best way to get a very busy one year old’s eye lashes captured?  Hand over your iphone set to Tom the Talking Cat.  No kidding!  He may or may not have downloaded Texas Hold’em but hey, totally worth it to get the shot!!  At least he’s got great taste in games!  HA!

daisy

I am elated that one of my favorite families grabbed one of the last minute mini session openings a few weeks ago.  I couldn’t wait to catch up with Daisy, I haven’t seen her since the day she was born! I love love love catching up with my birth clients!  Just 2 weeks shy of her first birthday and she’s running and just absolutely gorgeous!  Emily & Ethan, it was so great to catch up with you guys this morning!

Note:  I went looking to link Daisy’s birth slideshow and realized that the only place I shared it was over on birthphotographers.com as a part of their featured birth story – you can click over and view their birth story and slideshow here.  I’ve been lucky enough to work with Emily several times, both as a laboring momma and as a doula for the birth of Maddie-Rose.  If you are in the Austin area and thinking about hiring a doula, do it!  You can check out her website here.

I’m going to go ahead and call it.

Fall is here.  Austin has been a devine place to live this week with blue skies, crisp cool air, packed parks filled with kids and moms not sweating from the heat, and blessed long naps from said kids being tired from all the fresh air.  We are all opening our doors and windows and peeking out to take big deep breaths in.  There are actual people who live in all these houses with the AC running 24 /7.  We can now do more than run from the front door to the car door without melting into a puddle!  And I love it.  Fall is my favorite season.  I used to love spring.  But spring in central Texas makes me bitter and cranky because it is just summer looming with crazy hot temps of 100+ for days on end.  But fall….beautiful colors, crisp air, gorgeous sunrise mornings, october moons, rich beautiful light, pumpkin spice lattes and a steady stream of happy people ready to show me their love during busy season.  And boy, oh boy, is busy season here, 7 sessions in 8 days!  Get ready for a busy blog plus lots of catching up on older sessions from the summer, a few more sneak peeks and just lots of other stuff!

And sweet little Noah up there, 9 months old already, can you even believe it?!?!

3 little monkeys

Three very busy, very cute little boys, 2 and under….we just barely dodged the downpour of rain, it was soaking wet, muddy, humid and the Texas sized mosquito’s were fierce.  I’m not sure how we pulled this off, but we did…

Rhett has gotten so big since I saw him last spring.  And I can’t believe that Mason & Wyatt are turning one already, I could swear it was just a few weeks ago that Kim was pregnant with them!  Mason & Wyatt had a pretty exciting first year, staring on national television and all.  I think I’m more excited for Friday Night Lights to come back than I am Grey’s Anatomy, just so I can park myself on the couch and see these little guys on a weekly basis!  That’s kind of saying a lot since I seem to only have the time/attention span to devote myself to one or two shows a week.  But for these cuties, I’m there!

Oh, and their momma not only chases 3 little monkeys, she runs a business called 3 Monkeys Designs ( blog | facebook | etsy ) making THE cutest banners you’ll ever see.  Seriously, she’s made a few for us and they are still hanging up in our house months later because I just can’t bring myself to take them down, they are that cute!

Kim & Monte, I hope you like your sneak peek, thanks for braving the trip and the crazy Texas weather!

Joseph & Luke

I tried to pick a few favorites from this spring session to post here on the blog, and I just couldn’t do it.  I love every single one.  I had this beautiful family on my calendar for quite some time and I was SO looking forward to photographing them.  As expected, they were a total blast to hang out with. I hope they love them as much as I do….

This is my 4th set of twin boys since moving to Austin.  Not that I mind, I absolutely adore sweet little boys. But it leaves me to wonder, are there even any girl twins in Austin???  😉
