I’m not exactly sure where to start, it has been a crazy time for us.  This might be a little all over the place, but so am I right now so it fits, and its real and us.  I have to start somewhere, so here I go after one of the longest weekends ever….

1.  Let’s start with something, and someone, who makes me smile.  Every now and then I take a photo of one of my children that shows me who they are and I love it so much that I just want to hoard it and keep it all to myself.  I did that with this one for awhile.  She makes me smile so big.

Officially a teenager, a little scary for us, exciting for him.  He has an air of confidence around him that shines through the awkward stage he’ll soon leave behind right along with being a little boy.  He’s not little, he’s as tall as I am and will pass me up any day.  I see him figuring out the world, embracing it, getting angry at it and all of it’s injustices and ultimately finding patience for it all because just when he it figures something out, it changes.  His opinions about the world around us and the people in it, they are forming right before us and it’s a joy, and a […]

dynamic | austin sibling photographer

2010-06-01T07:07:35-05:00June 1st, 2010|My Family|

Three days and our dynamic will change.  Ty will be out of school (wahoo!!) on Friday, all three kids will be home this summer, we’ll shuffle them around to different places at different times, new activities, summer camps, t-ball, football (sometimes twice a day!!).  And then at the end of summer, Ty and Taryn will both be in school.  My days of just Taryn and Teagan at home…..I only have 3 of those left.  And then just like that….change.  Tuesdays are my days we don’t have to go anywhere, we can stay home and paint and draw and bake cookies and read and snuggle on the couch in our PJ’s all […]

why do the boys always get them? | austin toddler photographer

Love his long lashes and I’m every so slightly jealous.  He’s been soooo hard to photograph lately.  I’ll take what I can get.

In other news, just when I thought Ty couldn’t get any more awesome, he heard Teagan wake up around 6:30 this morning.  Ty got up and played with Teagan, they built forts out of blankets and played cars….and let us sleep.  Uh, is there anything better than that!?!?  Especially when Ty LOVES to sleep in until at least after 10 on the weekends.  And Teagan had a blast.  Thanks dude!

We’re hoping for a day out today but have spent the last 2 hours trying to figure out […]

the flip side | austin family photographer

As always, there is a flip side.  The daily reminders of time passing watching my toddler and teenager day to day are hard on this momma’s heart.  But there is more.  So, so much more.

I’ll never forget the day we told Ty that I was expecting Taryn.  The smile on his face, one of the biggest I’d ever seen.  ((Second only to the day we stood by a waterfall in Alabama where Jason proposed.))  I’ll never forget how he waited so intently and so well behaved while I was in a long 23+ hour labor with Taryn.  He kept notes in a notebook and gathered details of […]

break away | austin family photographer

2010-05-20T23:28:11-05:00May 20th, 2010|My Family|

I usually just file the RAW files away in folders after I take photos of my family.  I used to edit most of them within the same month.  And then it got fewer and fewer the busier I got with work, and life, and marriage and motherhood.  I’m a bit sad that I’m at a point that I’m not photographing them nearly as much as I used to.  And very, very few ever receive any love and attention or get shared.  But I’m ok throwing them in a folder labeled “someday when they are grown and I am bored”.  It means I’m spending more time with my family, I’m loving them.  But I have to photograph them.  For them, for […]
