the birth of harrison | austin birth photographer

I realized the other day that this sweet family gave me permission to share their birth and I hadn’t hit post!  There are so many things I loved about this birth.  First, being asked to capture another birth for them, returning clients make my heart swoon.  I LOVE that this family is so big and fun and loud and full of love.  They invited me to the “before” birthday party and you’ll see a few photos in the very beginning and then I followed them to the hospital.  I’ve had people question whether they want to have a c-section photographed or not and my answer is always YES!  All birth experiences and babies are worth documenting!  I love that I get to be moms eyes, along with my camera and lens when she is being tended to, moments she would have missed otherwise.  All these first moments, they are so valuable, and they slip by so very quickly.  I’m honored and humbled to get to be a part of so many births.

You can view their full birth slideshow below (reader viewers will need to click over).

If you’d like to have your birth photographed, I still have a few openings in 2012, but contact me at [email protected] soon as they fill up fast!

Elvis has arrived.

His real name is Harrison.  If you are curious as to why he was nicknamed Elvis, go here.  And his gender was such a fun surprise for everyone, I love surprise babies!  This birth started out with a big pre-birth party at their house and I have to admit, I had a lot of fun.  Just like at Izzy’s birth, there were a lot of laughs, a lot of smiles, and there was especially, a whole lot of love.  So many moments I loved, the kids dancing to Elvis music at the party, big brother Hudson discovering the gender for the first time, momma enjoying her baby and totally mesmerized by his sweet face she’d waited so long to see, daddy holding his tiny little hand in the nursery, Izzy asking so many questions when she first met him, “why are his eyes broke” because they were closed was my personal favorite, sweet girl.  And of course, 18 loving family members gathered in one postpartum room to welcome this little guy in to their big old fun family with welcoming arms.  He’s one lucky little guy.

If you would like to have your birth photographed, I am currently booking births for 2012.  If you are not in my area, and are looking for a birth photographer, please visit www.birthphotographers.com.
