boys pretend american idol

Before we left Texas we packed up all the boys toys.  We are moving really fast, every 3 days, to get where we need to be before Jason’s first day on the new job.  And we are just tired of picking them up all the time.  Zachary is in a phase where he drags everything out and throws things everywhere.  No toys has been glorious!  For several reasons….first less to clean.  Second, they are spending more time with our bin of books and reading.  Third, we have seen so much more imaginative play happening.  Their newest game is trying out for American Idol.  One of the 3 boys sits […]

It’s that time!  Back to roadschool!  We work on a different schedule than the typical school system.  It works for us.  And we are SO ready!  It was a nice long 4 month break.  Everyone is excited and motivated – that helps a lot!  This year we started Jonah on the same online program as the big kids and he absolutely loves it!  I’m relieved to get us started and in a routine before Jason’s first day at his new job.

Jonah in a long arm cast

It has been a very long couple of days.  Thursday, we went back to Dell Children’s Hospital for Jonah’s follow up appointment.  The purpose of that appointment was to remove the large long arm plaster cast and move him over to a short arm fiberglass cast.  We’ve had concerns about the fit of the cast throughout, but were assured repeatedly it was fine.  When we arrived they removed it, did an x-ray and the PA assured us we could move him in to a brace.  We were concerned because his arm is still very visibly fractured on the x-rays.  She really felt like the brace was going […]

365 Project: Is your arm all better?

Jonah had his plaster cast removed yesterday.  And while his arm IS improving, what followed was a complete disaster of medical care that was anything but good or personalized.  10 years ago Taryn broke her forearm and we had a fantastic experience with Dell Children’s Hospital in Austin.  The care has drastically gone downhill since then and we are so relieved that we can go seek healthcare elsewhere.  Never again, Dell.

When his cast was removed we washed his arm and Z noticed Jonah kept rubbing and touching it.  He jumped up and ran his fingers across his arm for quite awhile and asked him if […]

New job means the freedom for new adventures!  This crew is back and ready!  We are excited for all the 2020 adventures ahead, I’ve already jumped in to planning.  We haven’t been out on many adventures the last 4 months.  We are SO excited to get back out there again.  First up, hiking at Dinosaur Valley State Park!
