FUN!  That is the first word that comes to mind as I sit down and write this blog post.  I won’t lie, holding a charity event, in the middle of my most busy time for work, feels a little crazy at times.  Especially right before when everything needs to be done and just right.  But, I had a huge helper this year, Ty, and boy did he ever rock it out.  The biggest change, we moved it out of someone’s home and into a bigger venue and oh man, I’m so glad we did!  My assistant that helps me with birthphotographers.com found this place and it was just perfect.  Well, except for the really dusty floors, but its a barn, what are ya gonna do?!  So many little details I didn’t have time to capture, we had treats and games, monster bowling, a monster toss, hopscotch and color a monster.  My dear husband spent hours drawing monsters on old backdrop paper and it was hit!  I have to say thank you to Jason and to Ty for all their help leading up to the big day.  And of course, Vanessa, Tiffany, Thersea, Lynda and Amy for their help the day of!

So yes, it was busy and crazy and FUN….but it also had a really big purpose….to raise money for CureDuchenne.  My sweet little friend Timmy, has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.  I’ve worked with their family in the past to help raise money and awareness through much larger events.  They are a family so close to my heart and I knew who I wanted the money from the Little Monsters Bash to go to this year.  CureDuchenne funds research to try and save this generation of boys, as Duchenne is a fatal disease.  My sweet friend deserves every chance at a full and happy life.  So while there is a part of me that thinks I’m crazy to take on so much during busy season, there is a bigger part of me that wants to help.  And it is so worth it.

I want my children to grow up with an example of what it looks like to give of yourself.  Past just writing a check.  I want them to see it, watch it closely, I want charity and community to be so present in their lives that it is palpable within the four walls of our home.  I want them to run for their piggy banks when someone is in need and not think twice.  I want them to know that when they give of themselves, even when it isn’t convenient or easy, it will bless them in ways they never imagined. In fact, next year, I want to have a bucket for the children to donate their dimes, so they can experience giving too.  Dimes for Duchenne!  Clients, I hope you’ll start saving your dimes with your children for next years bash, we’re already saving ours!

My sweet and generous clients raised over $1,200 this year.  I am so very thankful for each and every donation, you guys are absolutely amazing!  If you would like to make a donation, in any amount, even just $1, we would appreciate it so much!  You can donate here.  If you do, please let me know so that I can add it to our event totals!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

Now, on with the cuties in costume!!  Here they are, be prepared for some majorly cute little monsters!
