CURRENTLY WANDERING

Hi!  We are a God loving family: Jason, Lyndsay, Ty, Taryn, Jude, Jonah and Zachary. In 2017 we sold our 2,400 square home in Leander, Texas, along with most of our belongings and bought a 400 square foot fifth wheel RV to hit the road and travel full time with 4 of our 5 kids and 2 dogs (Maggie and Pepper). We longed for a more simple life with less stuff and more adventure.  Our goal is to eventually visit all 50 states!  Our bucket list is long and we love adventure, hiking and national parks!  Lyndsay is a professional family travel photographer and loves capturing all their family adventures.  We hope you’ll follow along on our journey!

WHERE TO NEXT?

We left Texas late 2017 and went to Arkansas, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida. In 2018 we hit the southwest, west coast and pacific northwest before looping back down to Texas for the fall and winter. In 2019 we meandered up the east coast, jumping up to Michigan and across to Maine before heading back to Texas for winter.  2020 landed us quarantining in Alabama before heading out Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington.  Winter in 2020 took us to Texas, Alabama and Florida, including the Keys.  2021 we hopped around the east coast.  2022 was spent in Utah, Oregon, and Washington before we did the “wiggle down the middle” through the midwest.  We visited our 48th state in early 2023!  We spent 2023 on the East coast including Pennsylvania, Maine, Massachusetts and North Carolina.  2024 brought us back to the west, Taryn graduated high school in Moab, was an extra on The Chosen TV series and we spent our summer in Colorado where she was an intern learning how to farm.  In 2025 we are headed to Washington state to serve the church.

thought I’d stop all my whining and post a few pics 🙂 We now have two rooms that are done, the laundry room (and who wants to see pics of that!?) and Taryn’s room.  She has baseboards, she has crown molding, even window sills, yup, she’s livin large!  Ok, so she still needs knobs on her closet doors, just one little detail but I’m just so happy to have closet doors at all!  It seems like ages ago that Taryn, Jason and I were living in this room when we first got back into the house (the master was filled to the gills with building supplies for a long time).  The only place the playpen (which served as Taryn’s bed […]

Square 1

What a nightmare.  We fired our contractor today.  We had to.  What an awful experience.  The guy decided he needed to yell at me without warning, amoung other things.  I doubt he would have behaved that way if my husband would have been in the house.  Not cool.  I kicked them out of our house but before they actually left, Jase had made it home.  I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve heard Jason raise his voice at someone in the 6 years I’ve known him.  I actually don’t ever think I’ve heard him cuss at someone, but the guy deserved it.   So frustrating.  Nothing with Hurricane Katrina has been easy, so why should we be […]

another house update

Yesterday was better.  We had to go over a bunch of stuff that was done incorrectly with the house, but they fixed it.  Mostly the trim and some issues in Ty’s room, but it now looks great.  All that’s left in his room are installing the closet doors and then Jase needs to paint one wall.  I can’t wait to have it all put together in there, it’s going to looks great with all his new furniture!!  I am hopeful it will be done tonight or maybe tomorrow – yay!! Taryn’s room is a work in progress.  Let’s just say she’s less than thrilled with having people in her room.  She keeps yelling at them "DAT TARYN’S!"  Her room still […]

house hell

We are in reconstruction hell.  No way around it, why bother trying to sugar coat it?  It is what it is.  Constant stress.  I’m so ready to be done, it can’t end fast enough.  Not just the constant chaos, the in and out of people in your house all day, the never ending tools, paint, sharp things, nails and an uber long list of other things left everywhere for a toddler to get into.  If that wasn’t enough, we’re having trouble with our contractor.  It’s more than we can take, unnecessary drama, I just want my house done.  I keep trying to remind myself, a few more days and then we can move on…..but by today, it really does feel […]

to my mom…

Happy Birthday Mom!!!!!!!  The best mom The best Gee-Gee The keeper of snack packs and fun drinks.  The best date on date night, every single week.  She means fun.  Just the best!  I have always loved having our birthdays so close to one another.  It has always been so much fun to celebrate both days, and 4th of July together.  I hope you have a wonderful day Mom, I love you! (((and I can’t wait to give you your gift!!!)))

32 isn’t so bad

I turned 32 yesterday.  I can remember in my 20’s thinking how old 30’s would be, but it’s funny that now that I’m here it doesn’t really feel that old.  Honestly, I think Ty’s age makes me feel older than my own.  Yesterday started out pretty rough, we had some major contractor / house drama, but I managed to get away from it, at least for a few hours with my mom and the kids.  We did a little shopping and had lunch.  Of course coming home, it was like visiting the zoo, people everywhere, noise, the plumber was in and out, juggling phone calls from every direction and trying to convince Taryn to take a nap 3 hours later […]

a house update

Thought I’d give a quick update on the progress of the house.  We’re about neck deep right now.  So much going on.  Progress is good, but I really wasn’t prepared for how much work and stress it is to have construction going on in your house.  Having to be here so much, fielding questions all the time, the paint fumes make me sick, trying (and failing miserably) to contain a toddler during all the chaos.  I think that’s the hardest part.  Somehow to manages to gravitate to the rooms that suddenly don’t have doors, the one little patch of wet paint and the tools on the floor.  Funny how that happens.  For the first few days she did good because […]

give

I really want to share this story with you guys because it really made an impact on me, both as a person, as a mother and as a photographer….. A few months ago I was contacted by one of my favorite clients, she wanted to do something special to help cheer up one of her best friends by paying for her to have a session with me to photograph her son.  I love how thoughtful my client is.  Have you ever met someone and just clicked right away, well that’s her, you talk to her for awhile and you feel like you’ve known her forever.  So kind and thoughtful and creative, love that!!!  So we schemed early on to do […]

Thank You!

Thank you all soooo much for all the warm wishes and sharing in our excitement about our newest little addition to our family!  We really could not be more thrilled!!  I have the BEST blog readers in the world and the BEST clients!  I received so many wonderful notes and phone calls, so exciting!    So far the first trimester has been fairly kind to me.  Just a little sick feeling sometimes and soo soo tired.  I forgot how tiring the first trimester can be.  I’m not normally a sleeper, I actually require very little, but long naps in the afternoon with Taryn have been calling my name more and more.  It’s funny because when I was pregnant with Tyler […]

oldies but goodies

A few old favorites of Taryn that I’m posting for my mom.  She’s getting these on 8×8 canvas, doesn’t Taryn look tiny?  These were shot about a year ago… Thanks for all your advice, I think I’ll just have to print both pics of Ty below, I love both the color and black and white!

just one today

Can’t decide which one I like better, the black and white or the color version.  What do you guys think? Our house has been a busy, busy place!  Lots of house progress going on.  Our new fireplace tile surround and mantel is being built.  As well as the new shelves where the medicine cabinets used to be in both of the bathrooms.  So exciting to see stuff getting done!

backtracking a bit

A few from Father’s Day, right before we left for vacation.  I love this shot of Jason, a little over exposed but he looks so happy. Choco donuts, the breakfast of champions =) Sprinkle sticky fingers Taryn calls everything that is chocolate "choco milk", no matter what it is.  Love it. my personal favorite, my funny girl
