In my postpartum exhaustion I put this hat on backwards 3 times. Then my mom fixed it. So very tired. C-section recovery is no joke. I’m struggling in so many ways, emotionally and physically. For the record, Zachary was not tired for this photo. Captured during a slow blink because he was wiiiiiide awake.

Zachary is 3 days new. It’s amazing how much we know about him already. He’s scowly, like Taryn. He also has her hands and long fingers. He has hair exactly like Ty’s when he was born. Both on the top and in the back. It’s amazing how just the back of his little head can bring me right back to a moment 19+ years ago. He also has Ty’s big feet (he can wrap his long toes around our finger lol). But really, he looks so much like Jude. Which is crazy because Jude looks like me but Zachary also really looks like Jason. The first of all our boys to look […]

My awesome mother-in-law came up to help with the kids and Zachary for a few days. We were so thankful to have her here and the extra set of hands. With our hospital stay she didn’t get a ton of snuggle time, but we are looking forward to another visit very soon. I’m also so thankful to this amazing woman for raising such a kind, gentle, loving husband and father for my family. We are so blessed by her endless investment in him.

We have been struggling. My little guy has been gassy and I’ve been having lots of pain when he’s breastfeeding, even with what appears to be a good latch. My midwife looked at him and sure enough, just like Ty and Jude, Zachary has a tongue and lip tie. We are set to have it corrected on Monday morning by laser. He’s been miserable, I’m in pain, we are pretty much a mess. I’m really hoping this is a good fix and the re-learning process to feed will be short and easy.

If I’m being honest, I thought Zachary would absolutely rock Jonah’s world. So much in our house revolves around him. He’s high energy and always busy, talkative, the center of the action in our house. So far, almost 2 weeks in, he’s adjusting just fine. He loves Zachary and is obsessed with giving him love and kisses. I was surprised at how well he did holding him, patient, kind and gentle. That hasn’t faded with the newness just yet and I’m so thankful for that. Sometimes it is a little too much love, but that’s a great problem to have! He’s had a great example in Jude, that’s for sure. (Zachary was 2 […]
