365: Broken Arm News

Jonah had a follow up today with his ortho. The original plan was to remove this plaster cast and put on a lighter fiberglass short arm cast at this point. Mostly so he would be able to bend his elbow. We arrived and they immediately jumped in to cast removal. Something in me knew we needed an x-ray first. Not their standard procedure but I insisted. Jude is almost 12 and we are in this window of time where things are changing. He’s not a little boy who plays as much as he used to. He still does, he joins in with the little boys sometimes, he plays imaginary games, like pretending with Z to kayak off a waterfall (see my Insta stories for that photo). 365: Warm Knees

The weather was completely gorgeous today. At 5 pm we decided to have a fire pit dinner. Jude and I ran to the store for essential fire pit food, Jason’s brother picked up firewood on his way over. It was gorgeous outside but once the sun set it was pretty chilly, perfect night for a fire. I love the feeling of warm knees when the rest of your body is cold, roasting marshmallows and stargazing. It was a good end to a very chaotic and draining week.

365: Momma, Jonah Broke

The adjustment in dealing with a broken bone has been a little easier this time. First, because we just did this. Second, he is in a cast from the start vs a splint so we don’t have to restrict him quite as much. Third, Z is already used to being more gentle with him. Squashing the constant wrestling the first time around was tough.

On the day Jonah broke his arm, I pulled in to the campground to pick them up in the truck. Z flung open the front door to the RV and declared “MOMMA! JONAH BROKE!” Oh sweet boy.

365: x-rays with Iron Man

This week has been really rough. Cheating with a cellphone pic because I totally fell off my 365 when Jonah broke his arm. I have no idea how we scraped together enough money for this co-pay but we did. It has been really difficult. Thankfully his swelling and pain have improved.

365: Again

Again. Jonah broke his left arm. While sitting down, no less. Zachary tried to climb in a chair with him and it toppled over. Jonah’s arm snapped in the same spot he broke it in Acadia 5 months ago. Jason was home alone with the kids and I was on my way to shoot a session. He called and I quickly turned around. After our last experience we went straight to Children’s. It was…..ok. Not great but he’s ok and the reduction was successful. He is in a big plaster cast for awhile, then he will move to fiberglass as some point. Total cast time will be at least 3 months this […]
