365 Project: Mater
Z absolutely love the Cars movies. We’ve been driving past this Mater for months coming and going from the campground. I knew I had to stop and take his photo before leaving town.

It has been a very long couple of days. Thursday, we went back to Dell Children’s Hospital for Jonah’s follow up appointment. The purpose of that appointment was to remove the large long arm plaster cast and move him over to a short arm fiberglass cast. We’ve had concerns about the fit of the cast throughout, but were assured repeatedly it was fine. When we arrived they removed it, did an x-ray and the PA assured us we could move him in to a brace. We were concerned because his arm is still very visibly fractured on the x-rays. She really felt like the brace was going […]
Jonah had his plaster cast removed yesterday. And while his arm IS improving, what followed was a complete disaster of medical care that was anything but good or personalized. 10 years ago Taryn broke her forearm and we had a fantastic experience with Dell Children’s Hospital in Austin. The care has drastically gone downhill since then and we are so relieved that we can go seek healthcare elsewhere. Never again, Dell.
When his cast was removed we washed his arm and Z noticed Jonah kept rubbing and touching it. He jumped up and ran his fingers across his arm for quite awhile and asked him if […]
Jude dragged us to a nearby Audubon Center today. It was early, cold and wet but we were all good sports. We brought along our Osprey hiking backpack for Z but he didn’t even need it. I feel like he’s turned a corner with hiking and wants to do it all on his own instead of going along for the ride. Jason wore it empty all morning. I’m sure we will still use it on the road on more dangerous hikes, but it’s nice to have him tackling some hikes on his own! He’s getting so big!
Fajita week should totally be a thing. This is the 2nd time we have had fajitas in the last week and we totally cooked enough for tonight plus at least 2 more meals. That brings our fajita consumption to 4 meals lol. Don’t judge, they are soooooo good cooked on our blackstone grill with lime, onions and green, red, yellow and orange peppers. Served with avocado, black beans, violife vegan cheese on warm siete brand tortillas. Yum!
He stood in this spot looking out for a good long while. I finally got up and grabbed my camera to snap a few. Once I got close I asked him, “Z what do you see?”
“AHHH! I SEE A SISSY!!!!”
HA! She snuck up on us – we had no idea she was there!
