Ty took off after school to go play with one of his buddies in our neighborhood. I asked him to be home at 5 o’clock, as usual, and made sure he had his watch. Of course he wanted to bargain on the time so he could stay a little longer…..we compromised that he could leave there at 5 and be home a little after. 5:20 pm rolls around….no Ty. No surprise, he’s notoriously late. I was just about to call looking for him when I hear him running up to the front door. I give him “the look”. I’ve practiced “the look” a lot and think I’m pretty good at it. He says to me…..”Mom! I left his house AT 5 o’clock, I swear! Mom! It’s really windy outside and I had a lot of wind resistance coming home!”
Seriously?? An entire 20 minutes worth of wind resistance for 2 blocks?!?!?
What the hell am I supposed to say to THAT?! Bwahahahahaha. I’ve at least got to give him credit for creatives excuses. Of course this just means he’s subjected himself to being the butt of jokes all evening. During dinner we talked about how his hair looked windblown, how it might be a good idea to go out and fly kites after dinner, we wondered if the national weather service would be featuring the freak hurricane force wind storm in austin on the news. All this banter was met with a scowl and a stern “knock it off” from our favorite, and very entertaining, 11 year old. He drives me nuts sometimes but gosh I love him.
lol… 🙂
HAHAHA…that is hilarious! By the title, I thought you were going to say there really WAS a freak wind storm…lol. I cant say I have heard that excuse before. Very creative.
Oh how I look forward to times like these with my three . . . 😉
