CURRENTLY WANDERING

Hi!  We are a God loving family: Jason, Lyndsay, Ty, Taryn, Jude, Jonah and Zachary. In 2017 we sold our 2,400 square home in Leander, Texas, along with most of our belongings and bought a 400 square foot fifth wheel RV to hit the road and travel full time with 4 of our 5 kids and 2 dogs (Maggie and Pepper). We longed for a more simple life with less stuff and more adventure.  Our goal is to eventually visit all 50 states!  Our bucket list is long and we love adventure, hiking and national parks!  Lyndsay is a professional family travel photographer and loves capturing all their family adventures.  We hope you’ll follow along on our journey!

WHERE TO NEXT?

We left Texas late 2017 and went to Arkansas, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida. In 2018 we hit the southwest, west coast and pacific northwest before looping back down to Texas for the fall and winter. In 2019 we meandered up the east coast, jumping up to Michigan and across to Maine before heading back to Texas for winter.  2020 landed us quarantining in Alabama before heading out Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington.  Winter in 2020 took us to Texas, Alabama and Florida, including the Keys.  2021 we hopped around the east coast.  2022 was spent in Utah, Oregon, and Washington before we did the “wiggle down the middle” through the midwest.  We visited our 48th state in early 2023!  We spent 2023 on the East coast including Pennsylvania, Maine, Massachusetts and North Carolina.  2024 brought us back to the west, Taryn graduated high school in Moab, was an extra on The Chosen TV series and we spent our summer in Colorado where she was an intern learning how to farm.  In 2025 we are headed to Washington state to serve the church.

It’s here!

my mommy got a new what ???? a Canon 5D ???? sweet! Sorry I didn’t post sooner, its been busy, I got several orders in that needed tending to and tried playing around with the new 5D a bit. It’s a monster and makes my D50 look like a midget! And I haven’t even put the speedlight on it or the grip I bought yet. I love it, I really do. I must say that it is overwhelming to learn a new lens and camera at the same time. I feel like I’m learning a new language switching from Nikon to Canon. I’ll be posting more as I play!

my baby

I’m bouncing off the walls waiting for Mr. UPS and my new camera. I am going nuts! I distracted myself by baking a cake, cleaning house and playing with Taryn all morning. We played doll house, we danced (her in a tutu – not me lol) and then zoo animals, her favorite (manimals mommy)! And a new favorite, my baby, loving on her baby 🙂 Could she be any cuter? I just love her so much.

my emotion of success

When I first fell in love with photography just under a year ago, I shared it with a photographer that had taken photographs of my family for over a year, a photographer I admired and respected. His response was surprising. He told me, in no uncertain terms, that I would fail. I was devastated. Because of that experience I have a hard time letting myself feel success sometimes. But I did learn something from it. I learned that I want to treat people who have the same love of photography that I have, with respect and kindness. No matter what their level of skill, no matter what their goal, no matter what. And I’ve tried very hard to do that. […]

a quick update

Hi all, Just wanted to log in to say that Ty has finally taken a turn for the better. He got off the couch today. This makes me happy. No time to take pictures today, I’ve been working on all my new marketing materials, brochures and policy changes for 2007. All I can say is thank God for my husband, he has been a huge help getting all of it together over the last few weeks. I hope to have it done soon, along with some updates to the website. I’m excited to share all the upcoming changes! 2006 was filled with amazing clients and I can’t wait to see what 2007 brings. Stephanie the 5D gets here in less […]

100 things…

about me. I found this challenge on Amanda’s blog. I pass on the challenge to anyone who wants to participate 🙂 So here they are, 100 things, the good, the bad and the ugly… 1 I love taking pictures. 2 I can’t stand having my picture taken. 3 My husband and I have a romantic love story, it was destiny. 4 I am organized with certain things and not with others. 5 My husband and I have an ongoing 5 year debate over how tall I am (I’m right). 6 I married my husband in Hawaii. 7 My favorite color is green 8 I never do laundry, my husband does it all. 9 I do all the dishes though. 10 […]

Ty is sick.

Very sick, he has RSV. High fevers, horrid cough, I hate it when my guy is sick. This is just so not him. He’s miserable. So far no one else has gotten it, but it is extremely contagious, so we’ll see. I am ready to have my chatterbox, full of life kid back. In the meantime I have had to reschedule my sessions, I don’t wonna get anyone sick, especially the very pregnant mommy I had scheduled today!! On another note, I got a nice little gift this morning………eye contact! Wahoo! And look at her wild hair…I have no idea what to do with it!? She flat out refuses to keep any type of bow or clip in and her […]

a few more shoes…

Can you tell she’s addicted to shoes? lol We finally had to get a basket and put all her regular shoes on the top shelf, otherwise we had shoes everywhere, all over the house. Now she gets rations, a couple of pairs at a time and she has her play shoes. It’s on and off all day, this foot, that foot, this shoe, that shoe, mix em up, take em off, put em on. I think the first one is probably my favorite from the series, I might frame it in her room. The shadows behind her drive the perfectionist in me crazy, but since they are for me, I shouldn’t care right? She just walked up to my laptop […]

sing it with me!

“these boots were made for walkin’… and that’s just what they’ll do…” Thank you Grandma Janet & Grandpa Gary for the pink cowboy boots! Taryn loooooooooves them!

OMG – SHE WON!!!

THE PIGBEAR WON!!!! Soooooo excited for little Sarah and her entire family! Remember when I asked you guys to vote for her in the Baby Gap Casting Call last week….SHE WON!!! I am so excited that I teared up for them 🙂 Go check it out!!!

LOOK!!!

I am so excited – I found out about 8 weeks ago that scrapbooking.com wanted to use some of my photographs and they asked me to write a feature article for their Celebrations issue that came out today. I literally jumped out of bed this morning to log on and see it! Before I link it and please know that I am NOT a digital scrapbooker, at all! I created the layout just for this article and treated it from a photographers view as a storyboard LOL. They had several layouts to choose from and I’m kind of sad her invitation is not there but still VERY excited this morning! And it was so cool to see our Katrina story […]

GUESS WHAT!?!

I did it! I’m getting a new camera!!! Wahoooooooo! I have the best husband in the world, he has spent the last two days helping me through the decision and researching every aspect right by my side. He’s the best. So I’m getting a new camera, I don’t think it’s set in yet, but I am THRILLED!!! I also ordered good glass, a big upgrade from the glass I shoot with now, which is some pretty good stuff. I cannot wait to get it in my hot little hands and start to play. My Nikon D50 was good to me, it got me started, but I was starting to feel that I had taken it about as far as it […]

seal of approval

No time for a picture post today….are you ready for this…stop the presses… i cleaned my house gasp!!! I’ve been working so much that my house has paid the price. Ty and I got to work today, we took down all the Christmas decorations, packed them all up, dusted everything, vaccumed, organized, washed and scrubbed….all before lunch. Taryn was so good and “helped” too! She’s really good at rearranging toys. Ty was such a huge help that I told him his best friend could come over for lunch and I’d order them pizza. Lord knows I wasn’t about to mess up the kitchen by fixing lunch after we put in so much effort to get it clean!! I have spent […]

Warning:

I decided to take the kids to the park early this morning and we had so much fun. That’s the great part of taking several weeks off from the business side of photography. As much as I love my job, sometimes it feels so good to just take my camera and the kids to the park and have a good time. I was looking forward to a little good outdoor cooperation from both Ty and Taryn, but Ty’s plans changed quick when his best friend that lives down the street showed up at the park. So he ditched Taryn and I at the swings and took off with Cade to the monkey bars. I didn’t dare follow with the camera, […]

Secrets & Smoochies

I am loving Ty being out of school. So is Taryn. I managed to catch a few while they were busy playing with their new Christmas toys in the den this morning. Imagine my delight when I saw these pop up during the download! Not technically perfect, but it’s so them, playing, telling secrets and showin’ a little love. Makes the Mommy in me go “awwwww”. I always worried about Ty having that only child syndrome, but he doesn’t. He totally loves Taryn. But the biggest surprise in having two children? Seeing them interact and watching how much they love one another, they treat each other as a gift and I just love that!

jewelry

I promised photos of the jewelry I am now offering to clients (and that I gave as Christmas gifts to all the Grandma’s in the family). I was planning on taking just a few casual shots to post on the blog but last night I was contacted by the owner of the jewelry company. I had sent her a copy of the photograph of the ornament in the previous post thanking her and she asked me to do a product shoot with the pieces I have on hand. How cool is that!! We traded services, photos for free jewelry, and given the fact that she is a pro photographer herself, I think it’s pretty cool! I have to tell you […]
