CURRENTLY WANDERING

Hi!  We are a God loving family: Jason, Lyndsay, Ty, Taryn, Jude, Jonah and Zachary. In 2017 we sold our 2,400 square home in Leander, Texas, along with most of our belongings and bought a 400 square foot fifth wheel RV to hit the road and travel full time with 4 of our 5 kids and 2 dogs (Maggie and Pepper). We longed for a more simple life with less stuff and more adventure.  Our goal is to eventually visit all 50 states!  Our bucket list is long and we love adventure, hiking and national parks!  Lyndsay is a professional family travel photographer and loves capturing all their family adventures.  We hope you’ll follow along on our journey!

WHERE TO NEXT?

We left Texas late 2017 and went to Arkansas, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida. In 2018 we hit the southwest, west coast and pacific northwest before looping back down to Texas for the fall and winter. In 2019 we meandered up the east coast, jumping up to Michigan and across to Maine before heading back to Texas for winter.  2020 landed us quarantining in Alabama before heading out Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington.  Winter in 2020 took us to Texas, Alabama and Florida, including the Keys.  2021 we hopped around the east coast.  2022 was spent in Utah, Oregon, and Washington before we did the “wiggle down the middle” through the midwest.  We visited our 48th state in early 2023!  We spent 2023 on the East coast including Pennsylvania, Maine, Massachusetts and North Carolina.  2024 brought us back to the west, Taryn graduated high school in Moab, was an extra on The Chosen TV series and we spent our summer in Colorado where she was an intern learning how to farm.  In 2025 we are headed to Washington state to serve the church.

"Lyndsay Stradtner beautifully and honestly documents her family as she also builds an impressive portfolio as a child photographer.  Stradtner has a knack for making photo sessions fun for little ones - and for amazing their parents when they see the results."

amazing

Just had to log in and say what an amazing day I had today.  I am so so so psyched about the project I am working on. Kristen, Patrick & Philip, thank you, thank you, thank you!  You guys are such good sports!  Thank you so much for volunteering today, giving so much of yourselves and allowing me to glimpse into your lives for a little while!  I had a blast!!

sample?

I am in love with this shot.  I can’t honestly say that I have ever been this taken by a black and white tutu photo.  Tutu pics are usually all about the color, but to me this one just seems so delicate and girly in black and white.  I love the way the tutu fades with the conversion and it looks so pretty at full resolution.  I have the urge to print it up as a sample….what do you guys think?

I’m such a tease!

Katie is this what you had in mind???? HAHAHAHA! My poor client Katie has been stalking the blog looking for teasers and I’ve just been rambling on about my boring old life, poor thing!  This shot of Cole cracks me up.  I convinced him to help me with a few test shots while we were waiting on the rest of the group to arrive and he just happened to have a clown nose in his hand!  Of all the luck!!  I usually delete test shots right away but how could I delete this!? To say this family was FUN is an understatement!!!  Total blast!  Sorry Katie, I know it’s mean to only post an outtake after you’ve been soooo patient!  […]

the last day

of school!  woohoo!  I am so excited to have Ty home all the time!  Ty’s going to love his surprise date night tonight too!  His birthday is coming up soon.  I can’t believe it but he’s going to be 10!  Man, that makes me feel old.  I have a 10 year old, how did that happen?!?  I got smart this year and hid all his birthday gifts at my mom’s house.  He was waaaay too snoopy last Christmas! Tried to take Taryn out for a few pictures this morning to practice with my new lens.  She wasn’t really into it, she was way more focused on trying to find the kitty cat.  Gotta love those dirty little knees on a […]

Duck!

HAHA…makes you wonna duck and run for cover huh?  I was playing with my new lens yesterday in Ty’s room with Taryn and turned to see out of the corner of my eye that I was under attack on the other side of the window!  LOL…. what is it with 9 year old boys and Nerf? I have  1/2 day of sanity left before school gets out!  12:31 pm tomorrow  my mom picks up Ty from school and they are going swimming at the club to kick the summer off right!  Then what would normally be mine and Jason’s date night will be a surprise for Ty, we’re going to bring him to the movies!!  Can’t wait to see Shrek […]

outtakes

It’s like he’s saying…. "Hey!  Yo, photographer lady!  Did you put me in this hat??  Oh yeah, well the door is THAT way!!!"  HaHa!!  I love this age….so expressive and fun to photograph!  Here are a few more funny faces from cute little Bradley…. Love the drool 😉 surprise!!!!!!  hehehe Funny boy!

happiness

My new lens came today and I’m in love!  I can’t believe the results and it’s not even a prime!  love love love it! My babies together, reading a book.  Ty can’t wait for school to get out so he can read all the time.  I think that kid would read all day if he could.  Of course Taryn loves every minute of it!

total cuteness

isn’t he just dreamy? I think this just might be my new favorite photograph, love it…

house woes

Even though we have had our LRA money for several month we still haven’t made any progress with the house.  It’s so frustrating, I just feel stuck, that’s the best way to describe it.  We’re having a hard time finding a good contractor.  The company we wanted to use told us 2 months ago that it would be August before they could even come out to give us a bid, much less start it!  Problem is that anyone worth hiring is too busy.  If someone isn’t busy, you have to wonder why.  So we’ve been doing more interviewing and I really, really hope that the last guy we talked to works out.  Even if we have to pay more.  I’m […]

proofing with a cup of joe

Decided to find a little coffee house inbetween sessions today in New Orleans.  It’s amazing the amount of work I’ve gotten done in such a short time with no interruptions – whoa – who knew!?  I pulled a few to proof from the session I had this morning with little Madi while I cleared my cards for the next session.  Y’all please forgive me if these look funny color wise, the lighting is weird in here and I don’t have my calibration do-hickey with me, so I’ll have to check them when we get home.  I just couldn’t wait to post a few…isn’t she just the best?!?!  I’ve been so lucky to get to watch her grow up over the […]

the love

Jason’s office was moving this week so he stayed home from work today.  By 9:17 am he’d determined that going to work, was indeed, less work than trying to keep up with me and Little T.  LOL  We had a blast, we took Taryn to the park to play, saw an amazingly huge pelican fly right over us near the water, and then had lunch at the train station.  Burgers, yum.  Only thing missing was Ty, 4 days and counting. Love hurts.  She loves lemons out of our tea when we eat out.  Has since last summer.  I’m not too sure they love her back 😉 A little doggie love.  See the grey hair?  It’s gotten worse in the last […]

T minus 5 days and counting!!!

School is almost out, it’s almost that time. On the inside, 99% of me is jumping for joy. That tiny little 1% says “I’m gonna be so stinkin tired”! Summer means endless hours at the pool, going to the library, playing outside, popcycles, inside outside inside outside, riding bikes, skyrocketing grocery bills to feed a growing boy, and the endless “Mom, can I . . . ” (just fill in the blank with anything you could imagine) LOL I can’t wait to have him home. I can’t wait for the daily homework battles to end and have more peace in my life. I can’t wait to not have to worry about whether his school uniform is clean for the next […]
