CURRENTLY WANDERING

Hi!  We are a God loving family: Jason, Lyndsay, Ty, Taryn, Jude, Jonah and Zachary. In 2017 we sold our 2,400 square home in Leander, Texas, along with most of our belongings and bought a 400 square foot fifth wheel RV to hit the road and travel full time with 4 of our 5 kids and 2 dogs (Maggie and Pepper). We longed for a more simple life with less stuff and more adventure.  Our goal is to eventually visit all 50 states!  Our bucket list is long and we love adventure, hiking and national parks!  Lyndsay is a professional family travel photographer and loves capturing all their family adventures.  We hope you’ll follow along on our journey!

WHERE TO NEXT?

We left Texas late 2017 and went to Arkansas, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida. In 2018 we hit the southwest, west coast and pacific northwest before looping back down to Texas for the fall and winter. In 2019 we meandered up the east coast, jumping up to Michigan and across to Maine before heading back to Texas for winter.  2020 landed us quarantining in Alabama before heading out Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington.  Winter in 2020 took us to Texas, Alabama and Florida, including the Keys.  2021 we hopped around the east coast.  2022 was spent in Utah, Oregon, and Washington before we did the “wiggle down the middle” through the midwest.  We visited our 48th state in early 2023!  We spent 2023 on the East coast including Pennsylvania, Maine, Massachusetts and North Carolina.  2024 brought us back to the west, Taryn graduated high school in Moab, was an extra on The Chosen TV series and we spent our summer in Colorado where she was an intern learning how to farm.  In 2025 we are headed to Washington state to serve the church.

a few new things

Check out the sidebar….I added a few new things.   First, I finally got some of Ty’s photos together in an album and all in one place.  He’s super, chest swelling, proud over it, so check it out!  I also added an album for all the old banners that have appeared here on the blog (thanks for the great idea Erin!!).  There are a few ooooooooold ones in there all the way back to my first blog before we moved over here.  It was fun for me to look through them and I love the idea of having them together, because usually once they have been replaced, there was no record of it.  So, if you’re a long time visitor (and […]

the elusive smile

He’s almost ready.  I can feel it.  His face lights up when we talk to him, but that first real smile is being elusive.  He wants to smile…he told me so himself in one of our super secret talks about giving those first smiles to only mommy.  Don’t think I’m selfish, I’ve earned it.  Nine months of tossing my cookies, insomnia, stretch marks, contractions for weeks.  Yup, I’m campaigning for that first little grin and am totally prepared for it to melt my heart. We’re off to soccer practice and then a dinner picnic at the park.  Gotta love spring!

oink

We weighed Teagan last night.  My guess was around 10 lbs but out little porker tipped the scale at 12 lbs 2 oz!!!  Oink Oink!  =)  I just love watching him grow and change. I have to post this one….I’m just in love with his feet.  This shot makes me want to kiss his sweet little piggies… I used Lilyblue’s actions and presets on this one.  I really love them!  I’ve been playing with them here and there (here, here, here and here)  Check them out.

3 T’s & Me

I posted this almost a year ago and failed miserably.  I decided I need some structure to actually pull it off.  Anne Marie found an idea on Flickr of taking a pic of you with your child or children once a week for a year.  Love this idea!  Makeup, no makeup, hair fixed or not.  Just want you guys to know, right up front, it might not be pretty, or even in focus!  But I hope it’ll be fun and become easier for me to get in front of the camera and those around me more willing to pick it up on their own.  I can take it, have someone else take it, use the camera timer or just use […]

tag canvas

I started working on a few craft projects for the nursery before Teagan was born.  Once he arrived, all I had to do was add a few final details.  This is a simple 12×12 canvas that I finally finished up this morning.  It was so easy to do and I just love how it turned out… I made one for baby Calla / Anne Marie too but forgot to take a pic before giving it to her.  Jamie also asked about the photo blocks in the "little things" collage.  They are still half finished but I hope to get them done soon.  I’ll post pics when I do!

Quote of the day…

While eating lunch today…. Taryn:  Mommy, did Teagan steal your heart?Mommy:  Yes T, he did.Taryn:  He should share.  Want me to tell him to give it back?Mommy:  No baby, my heart is just fine where it is.Taryn:  Oh, ok. =)

running on empty

The 6 week growth spurt is kicking my butt.  I’d love to know what our little porker weighs.  All he does is eat…and eat…and eat some more.  When he cries like this I’ve been known to call him a "fuss butt".  Taryn picked up on this term and the other day when I put her in the corner she informed me I was being a "fuss butt".  Nice. Can you believe it’s been 6 weeks already?!  My mind keeps wandering back to when Taryn was this age.  At 5 weeks old we were evacuating for Hurricane Katrina.  Running for our lives, living on the road, in hotel rooms, with family.  I look at Teagan and have no idea how we […]

sick

Little T got sick right before our Easter party on Saturday.  She was at Ty’s soccer game when the fever hit that morning.  The fever keeps spiking up and we’re keeping an eye on her.  She’s my child that rarely gets sick, so when she does, it scares her.  And we were all disappointed to cancel the egg hunt.  All day she kept saying "where my friends?"  🙁  With T being sick, it just made it that much harder to not be at my mom’s house with the rest of the family enjoying the annual eggstravaganza. Hanging out on the couch watching Dora Sunday afternoon… And what do you eat for breakfast when you’re sick?  Jello, of course! Thankfully, Jason’s […]

broke out the macro today

I didn’t have a lot of time to play but still had fun.  I wish I was better at this.  I want to be, but I’m my own worst enemy because I refuse to use the tripod.  Ah well…. The dude He helped me a ton today by filling up A LOT of Easter eggs.  I’d love to know how much candy he ate while working though because he had quite the sugar high this evening.  Talk, talk, talk, talk, talk =) Tomorrow, egg hunt and BBQ, 7 toddlers.  It’s gonna be crazy.  And FUN! Happy Easter everyone!!

So, uhm, yeah, about that shopping trip.

Forget brave and crazy.  I’m insane.  I lost count of how many people said "Wow, you have your hands full!".  Lots, and even more said it with their eyes.  Thank God for Ty, he’s such a huge help.  I gave him a great big thank you and paid him in Legos.  He’s  such a good kid. So, so funny.    This is what I found when I got Teagan out of the car.  Taryn decorated him.  Or she thinks he’s worth a whole $2.97, I’m not sure which one LOL!  She got the sticker off her new Dora ball.  T, I’ve got some news for ya sister friend…he’s gonna cost us a whole lot more than that!!!!

flashback friday

I’m so glad you guys are willing to indulge me with Flashback Fridays 🙂 This was taken with our old point and shoot dinosaur when we were living in the fema trailer after the storm.   Such an expressive little thing!  And look at that – catchlights before I even knew what a catchlight was!  Ha! So excited about this weekend, family coming in and we’re having a get together at our house.  The first one since we moved in.  Wish me luck, I’m off to the grocery store for the first time alone with all three kids.  I’m either brave or crazy.  Probably both.
