Roadschooling at MLK National Park

One of the highlights of visiting Atlanta was visiting the MLK Jr. National Historic Site and birth place. My kids loved it and we all learned a lot. As a parent, it’s hard to have the conversations about how humans can treat one another so horribly, but it’s vitally important. Jude, my empath, soaked it all up and took every ounce of pain and injustice straight to his heart. “Momma, that wasn’t that long ago…”. “But why, I don’t understand why people hate.” This hands on learning experience and the conversations it brought about solidified why we are doing this trip, this way […]

Fishing at Stone Mountain

I took the kids for a walk down to the fishing dock across from Stone Mountain. The view and the sunset were gorgeous, but I only had my phone camera on me at the time. We took advantage and went back on the last sunny day in the forecast for awhile with my real camera. And I am so glad we did.

I’m pretty sure Jonah was marching away to grab a stick. For real, Jonah finds sticks everywhere. We were in an empty parking lot the other day and somehow that boy found a stick with no trees and nothing around us. Jude is right, sticks find Jonah. At the end of […]

Atop Stone Mountain

Oh boy! This one gave me a run for my money today. He decided to run over and push the emergency button on top of Stone Mountain 😳  This included loud sirens, bells, flashing lights and a rushing emergency crew.  Y’all.  I cannot even.  Then later in the day, after many conversations about why we don’t push those buttons sans emergency, he pushed the emergency button in the elevator at the MLK Center. Yes, Jonah is living his best life.

ps: this photo looks a bit scary, but he’s totally safe. The top is expansive and fenced in. There is not a drop off directly behind him 😊

When day breaks

It’s definitely not my favorite thing to arrive at a new campground after dark. But it is my favorite thing to watch these boys wake up and discover a new beautiful view from their bed when day breaks. They love the surprise when it’s this beautiful. If we land next to the camp bathroom, not so much.
