Have you ever seen pink snow?

My most favorite thing about Santa Fe is the intimate relationship between the mountains and the clouds. They dance and move together with this constantly changing attraction. It’s such an incredible thing to watch. Tonight we stepped outside to catch the sunset, but the snow falling behind us stole the show. It was stunning before it turned pink as the sun fell. I’ve never seen pink snow in my life. This site took my breath away. New Mexico, land of enchantment, indeed.

Cadillac Ranch

Cadillac Ranch is one of those fun, quirky, stops we just couldn’t pass up. Armed with one can of paint each, we headed out in to this field to leave our mark on 10 Cadillacs half buried in a field. And my kids absolutely LOVED it.

While I knew Taryn would love this adventure, I wasn’t sure about Jonah. But he totally did! Before we even started painting he wanted to figure it all out and touch all the textures. Plus, free reign to be destructive and creative, […]

Palo Duro State Park, Texas

Palo Duro, you are absolutely beautiful!

We had a short travel day so we set up the RV and jumped back in the truck to go check out the visitor center at Palo Duro State Park. I’m so glad we did – the views were spectacular and they had a wonderful interactive area all about the canyon. The kids started their Jr. Ranger packet and actually finished it on their first day!

Part of our Jr. Ranger packet was to take a hike in the canyon. We headed down and the kids quickly spotted a trail […]

Year of change.

2018 truly is a year of change. For those that don’t know, Jason was laid off from his job and his last day was Friday. It was part of a reduction in force. Insert mild panic since I just left my business behind in Austin a few months ago. He’s looking for a mid-level software developer position that allows remote work and has 17 years experience. I’ve also updated the list of cities I will be taking photo sessions in, so if you’d like to book a session, or if you’d be willing to pass my website on to someone who might, we would really appreciate it! I finally feel ready to […]

Caprock Canyon State Park, Texas

Well this doesn’t feel like Texas. Driving in we were greeted with Buffalo and the canyon stunned us all. So beautiful! Our spot is amazing and we are so excited to explore over the next couple of days!

I sent this one on a “needs an attitude adjustment” hike. I might have yelled “I HOPE A BUFFALO DOESN’T EAT YOU! I LOVE YOU!” as she stomped off. She wasn’t amused. But she came back much happier and declared that she found a canyon just 20 yards behind our spot. So she grabbed her camera and we all went exploring with her in the lead.

Clouds

clouds

We didn’t expect much out of our one night in Wichita Falls. A stay in a state park and a big trip to the health food store to stock up for a week. But man, did the sky put on a show today. Sun and rain and a rainbow and beams and some wicked cool clouds. We were all impressed Wichita Falls! I think this looks like a painting….I’m totally going to have each of the kids paint this photo as an art lesson. ⠀
