there is still inspiration within these 4 walls | leander baby photographer

Confession time.  Sometimes I get really bored photographing my kids in my own house.  I love my kids, they are fun, and always provide me with great opportunities to capture real life.  But I get bored with my house and the light.  I know all the good spots and the places I need the kids to be in so I can get good lighting and a good shot.  Sometimes, being stuck inside these walls is just, the same, uninspiring, blah spot.  This tends to hit me the hardest in January, when I actually have time, since September and the beginning of busy season, to actually capture my own kids.  It’s also cold and heading out to capture them somewhere more […]

jane turns 7 | austin child photographer

7.  I can’t believe it.  I feel nostalgic with each of her birthdays just like I do my own kiddos.  Ms. Jane showed up to this session with a killer playlist on her ipod and her dancing shoes.  My favorite moment was when she was dancing with her shadow, then decided she wanted me to dance with her and insisted I put my camera down to do just that!  So fun!

it took 3 years | austin family photographer

One of my favorite families to catch up with each fall!  I’ll admit, I thoroughly enjoy them and have grown to love the fact that their dog Mathilda is less than humored by my antics.  Usually she rolls her eyes at me and is perfectly happy letting me take photos of her doing so!  Ha!  But not this year, she showed up ready for her close up and ready to smile.  I think she was trying to throw me for another loop, keeping me on my toes, she is!  Ha!  That’s alright, I’ll just call myself the dog whisperer until we meet again next […]

olivia & co | austin family photographer

Sarah and I first met online, we were both pregnant with our little ones at the same time so Olivia and Jonah are very close in age (4 days apart I believe).  It was such a treat for me to get this family in front of my camera because I already felt that I knew them so well.  Olivia has this sweet but big and spunky personality and loved capturing her!  Sarah and Royal, thanks for traveling to Austin, I had a blast hanging out with you guys!

the cut | austin baby, er, uh, big boy, photographer

I put it off for so long, getting his hair cut.  One of my favorite things about him is the way his hair naturally flips up above his ear.  It’s sweet and simple and so so him.  He was looking very shaggy and we had photos with Libby coming up.  It needed to be done, but I won’t lie, I totally regret it.  Which is weird because I didn’t regret a single hair cut, first or otherwise with the other 3 kids.  Maybe it’s because we lost so much of the red hair, it’s much more blonde underneath now that it is shorter.  It’s been a month, and I still kinda regret it, he looks so big and different.  It’s […]

Christian Christmas Book Advent

I have been wanting to do this for years and I finally got organized enough before busy season hit to actually pull it off this year.  I really enjoyed researching and looking for books that have a Christian, Jesus focused, tone to them.  I started buying books in September, a few a week to spread out the cost.  To save money, you could easily hit Half Price Books or other discount book stores.  I didn’t have a ton of time to enjoy the thrill of the hunt so I ordered most of mine online.  I ordered the number labels for each book from this Etsy seller.  Once all the books […]
