I had the joy of photographing a brand new little one this morning. Which also means that this little beauty is now a big sister!

When no one else was around this morning baby Ryan whispered a little secret in my ear. He asked me to wish his grandmother, who turns 70 today, a very happy birthday. Then he gave me a little wink! if jack could talk, he’d be all “WTH?!”

and I can’t really blame him, it was slimey in there!

i had an image in my mind and this isn’t it, but it still makes me laugh. and just for the record, these photos are several weeks old (they’ve been in my blog que for awhile) and he’s totally forgotten about me for stripping him down and sticking him in a slimey old pumpkin. whew! it’s a good thing babies don’t hold grudges or i’d be in big trouble.

I absolutely love this session, I had a hard time figuring out what to share. Jane is so sweet and bright. She’s filled with a million expressions and just such a happy girl. I was so hoping to capture that during our first session of many in the year to come.

oh man, that sweet little pucker on the left and the curly-q on the right…just too much for me!

With all of this talk of cancer research and MD Anderson and kicking cancer to the curb, Alex has been on my mind a lot. I know many of you were touched by his family and their story, so I wanted to post an update with his permission. Alex celebrated his birthday on the 4th and I left him a happy birthday message. I was so, so sad to hear the news that cancer has spread to his liver and he has started another round of treatment. It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 months since Lucy was born. Her birth produced one of my all time favorite images and introduced me to this amazing, warm, loving family. I’m so, so glad I got to catch up with them tonight. Can you even believe how much they’ve grown??
