Going through Teagan’s birth slideshow got me thinking about how much his arrival has changed Ty and Taryn.  I thought I’d do a good old fashioned “flashback friday” and post a few of the last shots I took of just the two of them together.  Last February…just 5 days before Teagan arrived =)

Be sure to stop by this weekend for lots of mini session and newborn session sneak peeks!!

Teagan’s Birth Slideshow

It took me almost 8 months to finish these, a couple of things I think about when watching it…..

  • Anne Marie is an awesome friend.  She showed up, used my camera and hers, photographed Teagan’s birth and then stayed with me for support when they whisked Teagan away.  If you go back and watch Anne Maries birth slideshow from when Calla was born, you’ll even recognize some of the same nurses.  Thank you Anne Marie for all your hard work and your time, you did an awesome job, we are forever grateful.
  • I didn’t do much editing.  I cropped and converted into black and white and not much else.  I wanted them to be real, grainy, dark, bright, whatever they are, […]

Anne Oliver: A lesson in backlighting

2008-10-02T08:20:48-05:00October 2nd, 2008|Announcements|

I don’t know about you guys, but when I first started to learn how to use my camera, I was scared of the sun.  Scared.  As in only go out on cloudy days or find very large patches of shade, kind of scared.  But there is a whole world out there that I was missing, silhouettes, sun flare and backlighting.  It took some time, some research and a ton of practice to start getting it right.  I love the sun now, being able to use it to your benefit is powerful, especially for a pro.  I get lots of questions about how I shoot backlit photos, and since y’all know I’m not the best teacher, I thought I’d ask someone […]

1. Guess what?! I’m almost 8 months late but I’m finally almost finished with Teagan’s birth photos! Go me! And I love them, I mean really, really love them. I just have a few more I need to get from Anne Marie and then I’m done – woohoo! Honestly, I wasn’t sure up until the end of my pregnancy if we were even going to have his birth photographed. I’m so glad we did, every image is so precious to me. 8 months later, the memories in my mind are still strong, but even so, the images bring me back to those moments in a way that even my own memory never […]

this is what mommies do

As hard as it is for me to get up and out the door bright and early (I’m so not a morning person), once I’m on the open road, heading to a session, I love it.  And it’s not just being in the car by myself, without kids, there is nothing like a Texas sunrise in the fall, seriously beautiful.  If you live in Austin and you haven’t caught one, it’s totally worth hauling yourself out of bed!  I had a session in south Austin bright and early this morning and man, oh man, was the drive pretty.

When I arrived, I met the sweetest little doll ever….
