CURRENTLY WANDERING

Hi!  We are a God loving family: Jason, Lyndsay, Ty, Taryn, Jude, Jonah and Zachary. In 2017 we sold our 2,400 square home in Leander, Texas, along with most of our belongings and bought a 400 square foot fifth wheel RV to hit the road and travel full time with 4 of our 5 kids and 2 dogs (Maggie and Pepper). We longed for a more simple life with less stuff and more adventure.  Our goal is to eventually visit all 50 states!  Our bucket list is long and we love adventure, hiking and national parks!  Lyndsay is a professional family travel photographer and loves capturing all their family adventures.  We hope you’ll follow along on our journey!

WHERE TO NEXT?

We left Texas late 2017 and went to Arkansas, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida. In 2018 we hit the southwest, west coast and pacific northwest before looping back down to Texas for the fall and winter. In 2019 we meandered up the east coast, jumping up to Michigan and across to Maine before heading back to Texas for winter.  2020 landed us quarantining in Alabama before heading out Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington.  Winter in 2020 took us to Texas, Alabama and Florida, including the Keys.  2021 we hopped around the east coast.  2022 was spent in Utah, Oregon, and Washington before we did the “wiggle down the middle” through the midwest.  We visited our 48th state in early 2023!  We spent 2023 on the East coast including Pennsylvania, Maine, Massachusetts and North Carolina.  2024 brought us back to the west, Taryn graduated high school in Moab, was an extra on The Chosen TV series and we spent our summer in Colorado where she was an intern learning how to farm.  In 2025 we are headed to Washington state to serve the church.

Merry Christmas!

I hope everyone has had a wonderful, joyous holiday! We did! Our day was filled with smiles, laughter, dancing, we stayed in our pj’s all day, played with toys, ate and played some more. It was perfect! Ty loves his new Shuffle iPod, a MegaZooka and Lego’s galore. Taryn adores everything she got, baby doll house, play kitchen, bouncin zebra and more belive it or not! Today was perfect, we were comfortable and happy!!! I’ll be posting more photos of our day soon but tonight I promised Ty my laptop to download music onto his iPod… Ok, so all the grandparents have opened their gifts and I can finally post this! I ordered three of these ornaments and absolutely love […]

my top 10

Frederique challenged everyone to post their top 10 favorite images from 2006. I am posting a little late but still wanted to play! I don’t have a full year to choose from as I haven’t had my dslr that long, but it was still so hard to choose, I have had so many amazing clients this year! My favorite of Taryn, one of the very first images I took with my new camera. A gift of momentary cooperation from Ty. Finally, after suffering with the learning curve on my new 85 mm, I started to “get it” with this photo. It took me 3 sessions and around 400 exposures to get this, total and complete lack of cooperation. This photo […]

thinking back

…to last year. At this time on Christmas Eve, we were “moving” from the trailer in our front yard into the house. I still can’t believe we did that, but we did. The house was NO WHERE near ready, concrete floors, no furniture, no kitchen, a functioning toilet on one side of the house and a functioning shower on the other, and that was it. Jason and I took shifts painting into the wee hours of the night the week before Christmas, and got it done just in time. We had the two chairs my Mom’s neighbor had given us, a bed for Ty, a bed for us and we had Taryn’s pack-n-play in the closet in her room. It […]

Vote!

Hi all, I have a small favor to ask. One of my online photographer friends, Erin, has an amazingly cute daughter. Seriously, it’s a fact. Even the Gap thinks so! Little Sarah is a finalist in the Gap Casting Call! It’s so exciting, please vote….just go here and look for little Sarah….here she is in all her cuteness…. Photo copyright of Photography by Erin (used with permission of course). You should really check out Erin’s blog, her photography is to die for! Her use of light, her composition and she is the queen of using negative space….can you tell that her work inspires me? Now stop reading my blog and GO VOTE! Thanks guys!!

the ink is dry

We made the deal. We received our “yellow letter” from the LRA (Louisiana Road Home Agency) which is responsible for distributing and overseeing all the money that Congress allotted to Katrina and Rita victims. Overall it’s a good thing. We were given three choices and our decision was clear. Our three options included, rebuild, sell to the State and live in Louisiana or sell to the State and move out of State, each option came with a different dollar figure. The only one we could afford to take was the “rebuild” option. We owe so much money on the house because of the loans we had to take out to begin our rebuild, that selling at a reduced price back […]

Welcome!

Welcome to the blog of Lyndsay Pfenning Stradtner and my family, Jason Stradtner, Tyler & Taryn.  Thanks for bearing with me as I make yet another move!  I love typepad and am happy to make it my new blogging home.  I’m not too crazy about the new banner…what do you guys think?  I don’t know why I have such a hard time designing banners but I do.  Maybe I need to do a photoshoot with designing a banner in mind??
