CURRENTLY WANDERING

Hi!  We are a God loving family: Jason, Lyndsay, Ty, Taryn, Jude, Jonah and Zachary. In 2017 we sold our 2,400 square home in Leander, Texas, along with most of our belongings and bought a 400 square foot fifth wheel RV to hit the road and travel full time with 4 of our 5 kids and 2 dogs (Maggie and Pepper). We longed for a more simple life with less stuff and more adventure.  Our goal is to eventually visit all 50 states!  Our bucket list is long and we love adventure, hiking and national parks!  Lyndsay is a professional family travel photographer and loves capturing all their family adventures.  We hope you’ll follow along on our journey!

WHERE TO NEXT?

We left Texas late 2017 and went to Arkansas, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida. In 2018 we hit the southwest, west coast and pacific northwest before looping back down to Texas for the fall and winter. In 2019 we meandered up the east coast, jumping up to Michigan and across to Maine before heading back to Texas for winter.  2020 landed us quarantining in Alabama before heading out Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington.  Winter in 2020 took us to Texas, Alabama and Florida, including the Keys.  2021 we hopped around the east coast.  2022 was spent in Utah, Oregon, and Washington before we did the “wiggle down the middle” through the midwest.  We visited our 48th state in early 2023!  We spent 2023 on the East coast including Pennsylvania, Maine, Massachusetts and North Carolina.  2024 brought us back to the west, Taryn graduated high school in Moab, was an extra on The Chosen TV series and we spent our summer in Colorado where she was an intern learning how to farm.  In 2025 we are headed to Washington state to serve the church.

Big News!!

Deep breath! We just got a telephone call letting us know that the closing on our Louisiana Road Home Grant is going to happen next week!!! We are thrilled. We have been really stressing over this, the house, the massive amount of debt because of Katrina, it’s been taking it’s toll on all of us. Mostly my husband, I know he must feel like he has the weight of the world on his shoulders. I am still amazed at how much we have been through in our first 2 years of marriage. Ok, so we won’t actually get the money next week, it will be sent directly to our mortgage company, who will then hold it in an escrow account. […]

Meet Bradly

I was lucky enough to get to photograph this little guy this morning, isn’t he just the cutest?! I can’t wait to get through the rest of his proofs. You’ll get to see his cute little face on my website soon, he’s going to be our little Valentines Day baby! Have I mentioned lately how much I love hanging out with little people? I got to hang out with so many cute babies this weekend, I really love what I do. So much so that I often feel funny calling it work.

Introducing Emmy

Remember the maternity shoot I did about a week ago? Well Miss Emmy has arrived, and is a tiny little thing at only 6 little pounds. Little, but cooperative! She let me do whatever I wanted and she even stayed awake the entire time!

a few more from today…

Yes, this is my peanut wearing a summer dress in the dead of winter. It was gorgeous today and Taryn and I were feeling cooped up so we went around the block to my mom’s house. We had to stay in all day yesterday because we had people here working on our alarm system. I love this one….I can’t tell you how many hours I spent sitting on that step, talking on the phone as a teenager, many!! Tight crop required here because she LOVES getting into the flower beds at my mom’s house and rearranging all the rocks. She had plenty of rocks (and mud) in her hands at this point. And just one more of her in her […]

aint that the truth

I’m not sure there is much more to say – lol. If I wouldn’t have been present, I’d wonder if this kid is mine! She’s his little clone, it even creeps our pediatrician out. I often tell Jason that his genes were bully genes and beat my genes up before jumping into the gene pool. I even caught her dimple in this one, I rarely catch it! And yes, Daddy has one just like it 🙂

Escaper

I took this for a photography challenge I participate in and thought I would share it here too. This is the first time I have photographed this little guy. I swore I would never have a reptile in my house, but I must admit, over time, he’s growing on me.

cookin up a little love

Just one from the first of several photoshoots I have planned for the kids for Valentine’s Day. Here is little miss cooking up some love in her kitchen 🙂

“Tell Em What They’ve Won Bob!!”…sanity

Since our last update on the rebuilding of our house and LRA grant application, not much has happened. We’re still waiting. We’re getting good at waiting. We haven’t done any work on the house because we’re waiting on the money. Well, that’s not exactly true, Jason painted the laundry room and hung up cabinets in there. He also painted a few window sills, but that’s it. We did get a telephone call from the title company that will handle the closing for the grant program, they needed a loan number from us, so at least we know things are moving along. This is good. It makes us anxious. We’re ready. To finish the house, to get out from under the […]

It is with great pride…

that I introduce a showcase of the results of Ty’s first photography lesson. After covering the basics, he was responsible for the Nikon D50 and asked for very little instruction when actually shooting. I helped out with a little post processing, but not much, cropping, sharpening them for web, etc, but the exposure, aperature / depth of focus, angles and composition are all his. I sure wish I knew this much about photography when I was 9 🙂 And if I do say so myself (mommy goggles included)….he rocks! drumroll please……… Photography by Ty

Sad

Our house is officially in mourning with the Saints loss yesterday. We’ve all felt a little sick since last night…..we so wanted to cheer our team on in the Superbowl. And it would have been great for our city. But, it was a good season, our best ever. Here is little Miss T cheering on our boys in black and gold!! I couldn’t find a shirt for Taryn so I made her a dress. This is a boys black size 6 t-shirt that I cut the sleeves off of, ironed on the fleur de lis and tied ribbon in a bow between the neck and each sleeve. She looked sooooo cute!

my bud

I’m loving having so many photos of Ty to post, that never happens. I got so many of him on our day out last weekend. Usually it’s a headache to get him in front of the camera, so I’m loving this! I am still working on proofing all of the photos he took, he’s really anxious for me to finish. We bought him a “portfolio” this week for him to keep all his pictures in (LOL, it’s a photo album) 🙂 Stay tuned, they’re coming! Sportin’ a new do? Nope, this was just at the beginning of the day, by the time we hit the next stop, his hair had fallen. It’s funny to see him with spikey hair though. […]

Our Saints, Our City, Our Soul

“Our Saints, Our City, Our Soul” Out of the fire And up from the flood A great team is born Made of guts, steel and blood Their history a low one No one can deny Their new rise a slow one But oh now so high This team that I speak of Is of black and gold And travels the gridiron So brave and so bold Their symbol is royalty We call Fleur de lis And proud New Orleanians Watch it with glee Come Deuce and come Reggie Come Drew and come Joe Come Marques and Terrance Now go beat the foe The course is set plainly There is clearly a goal Go show all the world A storm can’t […]

SAY WHAT?!?

I managed to get little miss thing in front of the camera this morning. I about died when I aimed my lens at her and out comes…….”CHEESE“. I almost fell over, seriously. Oh my God. WHO TAUGHT HER THAT!?!? It surely wasn’t me. And anyone remotely close to me knows saying cheese is a peeve of mine. Hearing my daughter say it was a nightmare, a photographer’s worst nightmare. Ok, so that might be a little dramatic, but it’s bad. For me, it’s really, really bad. I’m hoping that she saw it on tv or something, and that no one in my family is messing with me, because if someone is, you’re in big trouble! And Mom’s have a way […]

Trying out a new banner….what do you guys think? Is it too much? I was ready for a change…but I’m just not sure if this is the right one?
