CURRENTLY WANDERING

Hi!  We are a God loving family: Jason, Lyndsay, Ty, Taryn, Jude, Jonah and Zachary. In 2017 we sold our 2,400 square home in Leander, Texas, along with most of our belongings and bought a 400 square foot fifth wheel RV to hit the road and travel full time with 4 of our 5 kids and 2 dogs (Maggie and Pepper). We longed for a more simple life with less stuff and more adventure.  Our goal is to eventually visit all 50 states!  Our bucket list is long and we love adventure, hiking and national parks!  Lyndsay is a professional family travel photographer and loves capturing all their family adventures.  We hope you’ll follow along on our journey!

WHERE TO NEXT?

We left Texas late 2017 and went to Arkansas, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida. In 2018 we hit the southwest, west coast and pacific northwest before looping back down to Texas for the fall and winter. In 2019 we meandered up the east coast, jumping up to Michigan and across to Maine before heading back to Texas for winter.  2020 landed us quarantining in Alabama before heading out Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington.  Winter in 2020 took us to Texas, Alabama and Florida, including the Keys.  2021 we hopped around the east coast.  2022 was spent in Utah, Oregon, and Washington before we did the “wiggle down the middle” through the midwest.  We visited our 48th state in early 2023!  We spent 2023 on the East coast including Pennsylvania, Maine, Massachusetts and North Carolina.  2024 brought us back to the west, Taryn graduated high school in Moab, was an extra on The Chosen TV series and we spent our summer in Colorado where she was an intern learning how to farm.  In 2025 we are headed to Washington state to serve the church.

“it will hurt them”

We had to rush Taryn to the ER this morning on a moment’s notice. She got ahold of some of the gel pesticide that Terminex put onto the inside of our cabinets. Our kitchen is childproofed, but Jason was standing at the counter putting dishes away and one of the drawers was open. Taryn put her hand up on the side of the drawer, grabbed a small amount of the gel and put it in her mouth. We were both right there, and immediately tried to get it out of her mouth, but it was too late, she had already swallowed it. She’s our child who chews on everything and any little thing she finds goes straight into her mouth. […]

the story behind ty

I don’t post very much about what is going on with him. I’m not really sure why I don’t, its not that I don’t want to share, I am just not sure what to say, because it really requires me to put it all out there to really understand what is going on with him….. He’s had a rough time, the last year especially, this kid has been through a lot in his 9 short years. My first husband, Ty’s biological father, left us when Ty was still a baby. His life spun out of control after he left us, so Ty didn’t see him much. For a long time, it was just the two of us, me and Ty, […]

the wonder it brings

Look what I found, a little hidden treasure on my CF card. I snapped a few of Taryn blowing bubbles with my mom the other day after the baby bed mini shoot I posted below. But then I didn’t go back to them because I got busy with client proofing. I love the look of wonder on her face. Her world is huge, wonderful and fascinating, yet still so small in many ways. I love that about her. I love seeing something new in her eyes, the joy and wonder it brings. This is just so her right now, about 10 times a day she runs into her room and hollers “bu-bl bu-bl” and points to them up on the […]

nie nie baby….shhhhhhh

Taryn woke up WIRED yesterday, I don’t have any idea what caused it, but she was ON allllll day long, full force. She had me cracking up most of the day, I was either laughing or trying to keep up with her LOL. I decided that if little miss personality was going to be in full force, I should capture it, so I dug out one of Taryn’s pillow case dresses to do a mini shoot. I wanted to try and catch her playing with her new baby doll bed. She loves it and keeps telling us to “ssssshhhhhhh” every time she puts her baby in the cradle. I had to convert everything to black and white because she still […]

the tail end of a nightmare

IT’S HERE!!! I’m so excited I can’t hold it in. Our disbursement for the remainder of our grant funds from our mortgage company! After 18 months of misery, stress and about every other emotion Katrina caused us, today brings relief!! She took so much away from us, the worst part is that she stole those precious, peaceful days that happen in the beginning when you have a newborn and we can’t get that back. So much of our attention, for a long time was focused on the after effects and surviving, instead of just being happy within our family. And poor Ty, he is still really struggling, I don’t post about it much, because I just don’t know what to […]

burn, baby, burn

Taryn has a sunburn, a bad one, from the park and zoo yesterday. We have guilt. If this was Basic Parenting 101, we would fail. I mean come on, sometimes we act like we haven’t done this before?! She’s coping, regular doses of Motrin and dousing her in Noxema seems to be working the best. Poor thing. Mommy guilt, it didn’t even occur to us. Ty barely got any sun, I got a little and poor Jason, his noggin is really red, sunglass outline and all. If you ever get a sunburn, put your Noxema in the fridge. She’s not quite sure what to think of this, but it caught her attention. I’d put her up on the bathroom counter […]

a good day

Meet Ethan, he’s the most cooperative almost two year old I have ever met. So easy going and super cute! His family traveled from College Station, Texas for a session and I’m so glad that they did. It was a gorgeous day and they picked a fabulous location for the shoot, we started out on St. Charles Avenue at Tulane University and then went across the street to Audubon Park. I loved the location and can’t wait to use it again. It seems like every other house on St. Charles could easily be described as a mansion, ok, maybe not, but darn close. And doors, oh the architecture and doors, I’d love to take Ty down there and just shoot […]

Reason number 8 million and 1

why I absolutely adore my husband. This proves that he will literally do anything to make his children happy! When I brought it home at first he thought I had lost my mind. At first it was just meant to be used at my Mom’s annual Easter Egg Hunt for 9 of her 11 grandchildren that are local. But then I had the idea of sending all the kids invitations this year, kids love getting mail! It took a bit of convincing but he dove in, he’s such a trooper. Ty taunted him quite a bit the little turd, but Taryn loved it. She’d laugh a big fake loud laugh and throw her hands over her mouth she was just […]

together

I managed to catch this while taking some Easter pics of Ty and Taryn……I teared up when I saw this one after downloading. My babies….both of them together. I wish I could see more of Ty’s face, but other than that it’s perfectly them, sweet and filled with love for one another. I never anticipated the way they would love one another but it totally warms my heart…. Now of course I would catch this the DAY AFTER I put in my order for several gallery wrap canvas’s of both of the kids….figures!!!

little miss funny face

Ty didn’t have school today and I love having him home, I can’t wait until summer gets here. I grabbed the D50 this morning while Taryn was playing with Ty, she was making silly faces and they were cracking each other up. I love watching them together and her little faces make me laugh. I just wish I could add the sound affects that go along with all this goofiness! I might print this big and put it on my nightstand, it’ll make me smile every morning!

dishin out the tude

A polka dot bikini, a big fluffy pink tutu, some mardi gras beads, a magna doodle and a whole lotta attitude. She is one great big fabulous mess. Her daddy saw this, smiled and said “WHAT are we gonna do?!” LOL, we’ll just love every minute of it…

Little T’s View

I picked up the D50 this morning on the way out to Mommy-n-Me. Thought I would try and catch a glimpse of her view of the world….. Dodging the Papparazzi. Peek-A-Boo. And finally, the rear view. Thanks for stopping by!
