CURRENTLY WANDERING

Hi!  We are a God loving family: Jason, Lyndsay, Ty, Taryn, Jude, Jonah and Zachary. In 2017 we sold our 2,400 square home in Leander, Texas, along with most of our belongings and bought a 400 square foot fifth wheel RV to hit the road and travel full time with 4 of our 5 kids and 2 dogs (Maggie and Pepper). We longed for a more simple life with less stuff and more adventure.  Our goal is to eventually visit all 50 states!  Our bucket list is long and we love adventure, hiking and national parks!  Lyndsay is a professional family travel photographer and loves capturing all their family adventures.  We hope you’ll follow along on our journey!

WHERE TO NEXT?

We left Texas late 2017 and went to Arkansas, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida. In 2018 we hit the southwest, west coast and pacific northwest before looping back down to Texas for the fall and winter. In 2019 we meandered up the east coast, jumping up to Michigan and across to Maine before heading back to Texas for winter.  2020 landed us quarantining in Alabama before heading out Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington.  Winter in 2020 took us to Texas, Alabama and Florida, including the Keys.  2021 we hopped around the east coast.  2022 was spent in Utah, Oregon, and Washington before we did the “wiggle down the middle” through the midwest.  We visited our 48th state in early 2023!  We spent 2023 on the East coast including Pennsylvania, Maine, Massachusetts and North Carolina.  2024 brought us back to the west, Taryn graduated high school in Moab, was an extra on The Chosen TV series and we spent our summer in Colorado where she was an intern learning how to farm.  In 2025 we are headed to Washington state to serve the church.

the big girl bed

The crib is gone, no more baby bed. It’s one of those mommy moments that makes me tear up and smile, all at the same time. I miss my little baby, but my big girl is so much fun! She LOVES her new big girl bed and did great the first two nights. She cannot stand the fact that she now has a gate in her door at night now though. She starts sceaming as soon as she sees it, which makes for a pretty rude awakening for us first thing in the morning! Other than that, she loves it, seems like she’s always dragging at least one of us into her room to see it! Jason finished putting it […]

Courtney

Meet Courtney – isn’t she gorgeous?!  Pretty and the sweetest girl you’ll ever meet.  My portfolio is seriously lacking teenagers so I was thrilled when I got the call to photograph Courtney.  It was truly an honor, as her parents are also in the photography business in Georgia. I am loving this location too…..I used it once before with little Ethan and it’s just perfect for teens.  This time I shot at dusk so everything had a pretty golden glow to it, the weather was perfect!  It’s a gold mine, Tulane University, Loyola and the gorgeous church are right next door with Audubon Park and Zoo right across the street.  And of course St. Charles Avenue is filled with photo […]

my first macro shots

I took my new macro lens for a test drive yesterday. Little T and I dropped in to my mom’s house, she’s got a beautiful well kep yard and lots of pretty flowers. What I learned on Day 1…..I should have taken my tripod with me, I need to buy a remote for my camera and the wind is not my friend. Ok, but the sun is slightly more my friend with macro photography than portraits, so that’s good. I am a little embarrassed to post these, because well, I know they aren’t that good. But, everyone has to start somewhere and this will be a good point of reference to come back and look at as I grow and […]

insanity

I’ve posted this picture of Ty before but today, it just fits.  You know your family is nuts when you husband has to call in to work and his excuse for being late is that his family is completely and totally insane.  Seriously, that’s what he said!  LOL!! First, let me start with last night.  Ty decided to play a pracctical joke on us.  He left for date night with my mom and Jase and I took little T out to dinner at Texas Roadhouse (she thought all the stuffed deer on the walls were doggies – that oughta put her in therapy!).  We got home and were stuffed so Jase went to put on some sleeping pants.  He walked […]

I’ve been on a black and white kick lately…

We know that cloning is illegal, sure hope you guys don’t turn us in!! I’m always wishing I could get great bath time shots with Taryn, but with an unfinished bathroom, it just never works.  Exposed sheetrock isn’t pretty.  I finally got a couple I like though… And finally, the bubble man.  I broke down and bought the big bottle and that sucker is heavy.  Blowing bubbles are our house is now a pretty decent arm workout =)  Our arms get tired before we run out of hot air!  Which is saying a lot around here!!! LOL I haven’t touched my camera in almost a week.  I have over 800 personal pics to proof.  I’ve never been that far behind!  […]

photo displays made easy

Ok, so if you guys check out the post below of our wall display, it looks simple enough but I can’t tell you how many HOURS upon HOURS it took us. In the end, after measuring and working and measuring some more for WEEKS, I ended up going to the frame store, staked out an area on their big counter and spent at least another hour playing and arranging. I’m happy with the arrangement, but it took FOREVER! I would love to help my clients with wall displays, but I seriously cannot imagine doing this for a client with ease and efficiency. So check this out, fellow professional photographer, Jamie Schultz just released some new templates to make it easy! […]

whole lotta stalking going on…

of the UPS man that is.  This month alone I’ve ordered 7 canvas prints.  Several for me, one for my mom and several for clients.  It’s like Christmas morning every time that big brown truck pulls up.  And he’ll be here again tomorrow – wahoo!! We decided we wanted to order several gallery wrap canvas prints for the house, including two big ones of the kids.  It took us a lot of figuring and refiguring to decide where to put them, but the big wall in the living room won.  And I have to give kudos to my husband for making sure everything went up good and straight.  He’s a perfectionist.  I’m not even going to share the details of […]

my boys

love love love this one of my boys.  They make me happy.  =) Hope everyone had a great weekend.  I had an awesome day on Saturday, all to myself, hair, nails, pedicure, facial, it was fabulous.  I got a ton of hair cut off, it’s not shoulder length.  I’m still getting used to it.  I’m of the firm belief that my hair is boring no matter how it’s cut, but we’ll see how I like it in a few days. Sunday we decided to go shopping.  We are about to transition Taryn into a toddler bed and out of her crib.  I’m disguising my sadness for giving up yet another baby phase with excitement to give her a more big […]

a little me time

I got roses from my boys this week. I love it when a quick run to the store to pick up milk and diapers turns into something thoughtful =) They opened up so pretty. And today, Jason is shipping me off to the spa for a day of beauty, hair, facial, whole 9 yards. I can’t wait. I can’t believe I’m going to admit this, but I haven’t had so much as a haircut, not even a trim, in over a year. Yikes. But time slips away when you’re a mom sometimes and you are so focused on taking care of everyone else. I have no idea what my hair will look like at the end of the day, little […]

Guess who’s 1?

Yup – it’s Clayton and Callie! How cute are they?!?! I bet you can guess where this situation is heading can’t ya? =) And why does someone else’s cake always look so much better than your own?! LOL!!! I traveled into Mississippi for their session yesterday and it was so much fun! I can’t get over how much they have grown since Christmas. On my way home I decided to stop at a local bakery that sells our favorite pickles. That might sound a little weird, but we LOVE Mickles Pickles, local guy, soooooo yummy. I also wanted to get something to drink for the ride home. I go into the bakery that also has a small cafe and two […]

being boys

Let me warn y’all right away that this post will include some pretty bad photography. But sometimes the moment calls for a snapshot from a mom, rather than a technically correct photograph by a photographer. It’s pretty safe to say these fall under snapshot =) Ty’s on spring break this week and his best friend lives down the street. He came over to play this morning and I got talked into letting them go outside to play with water balloons. About 5 minutes into it I hear Taryn at the back door yelling “NO NO NO BOY”. I went to check on them……and this is what I found….. You can see a complete slideshow with all the images by clicking […]

the cousins

Ty and Taryn are just two of my mom and step dad’s 11 grandchildren. We were lucky enough to have 9 of the 11 at the Easter egg hunt last weekend. I’m finally all caught up on client proofing and have a little bit of time to play with some pictures I took that day. I managed to sneak off with each grandchild for a few pics throughtout the day, because let’s face it, 9 kids, ages 9 down to 2, that perfect, everyone is looking and happy group photograph is pretty much a dream! So individual shots just have to do. Have you ever seen such cuteness?? And a whole bunch more…… And even more…… How did I get […]

misbehavin

Two part post…..there’s been lots of misbehaving at our house =) Our family LOVES practical jokes, no I mean, really LOVES them! Jason and I play them on Ty quite a bit and last year my mom helped us with an idea to get Jason really good on April Fool’s Day. We put a raisin inside the tip of his tube of toothpaste. Oh it was hilarious, it took him a minute of inspecting but he actually turned over the tube to check the ingredients! HAHAHA! This year you might have thought that I would give him a break since he wore the bunny costume, but Ty and I couldn’t resist. Yet another good idea from Gee-Gee, we removed his […]
