CURRENTLY WANDERING

Hi! We are a God loving family: Jason, Lyndsay, Ty, Taryn, Jude, Jonah and Zachary. In 2017 we sold our 2,400 square home in Leander, Texas, along with most of our belongings and bought a 400 square foot fifth wheel RV to hit the road and travel full time with 4 of our 5 kids and 2 dogs (Maggie and Pepper). We longed for a more simple life with less stuff and more adventure. Our goal is to eventually visit all 50 states! Our bucket list is long and we love adventure, hiking and national parks! Lyndsay is a professional family travel photographer and loves capturing all their family adventures. We hope you’ll follow along on our journey!

WHERE TO NEXT?

We left Texas late 2017 and went to Arkansas, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida. In 2018 we hit the southwest, west coast and pacific northwest before looping back down to Texas for the fall and winter. In 2019 we meandered up the east coast, jumping up to Michigan and across to Maine before heading back to Texas for winter. 2020 landed us quarantining in Alabama before heading out Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington. Winter in 2020 took us to Texas, Alabama and Florida, including the Keys. 2021 we hopped around the east coast. 2022 was spent in Utah, Oregon, and Washington before we did the “wiggle down the middle” through the midwest. We visited our 48th state in early 2023! We spent 2023 on the East coast including Pennsylvania, Maine, Massachusetts and North Carolina. 2024 brought us back to the west, Taryn graduated high school in Moab, was an extra on The Chosen TV series and we spent our summer in Colorado where she was an intern learning how to farm. In 2025 we are headed to Washington state to serve the church.

at Ty’s new room. I love it already and so does he! After Katrina we just bought him some cheapo temporary furniture from walmart. Its been falling apart for awhile so it really was time to get him something new. So we took a chunk of our tax return, walked into Pottery Barn Kids and said "we want that room please"….It was fabulous, I have never done that before, so fun, and at PBK no less!!! I feel like I have been proofing non-stop for a week and still have 3 sessions calling my name! Ty was watching me proof after dinner (which he loves to do!) and we decided to have a little fun in photoshop. So, this is what Ty would look like if his face suddenly melted – LOL! Gotta love the liquify tool =) With every click of the mouse we laughed harder and harder until our bellies hurt! Oh….and a funny Ty story…. In Ty’s class they have a VIP of the week. Ok, so I know I’ve already posted pics of Courtney twice…..but I just finished proofing the rest her session today and I’m loving some of the captures. Working with a teenager was a lot of fun, I’d like to book more. This age requires more direction from me though, which is something I need to work on. So not the case with a 2 year old!! I need a pick me up.

Pink flowers are happy, right? I need a little pick me up, I’ve had a rough couple of days. Nothing big, just lots of little stuff that isn’t going right. Taryn whined alllllllll day yesterday, not crying, that I can handle well, but she was just whiney. I think she’s teething. Jase and Ty picked at one another all evening long, you know, like brothers would…."He pinched me – NO I DIDN’T". And our AC went out. I bought the wrong shirt.

It says "Trouble is spelled B-R-O-T-H-E-R". Shoulda bought the one that says "Here comes trouble!" Little stinker got into my camera bag this morning and swiped my stash of stickers. She took off into her room to hide with them and this is what I found once I realized the house was wayyyyy to quiet =) And here is the ohhh sooo innocent "who?? me??" look…. She makes me smile. My day was filled with 6 month old little cuties. These little guys are seriously not helping my baby fever at all! First up was my old buddy Aiden, I can’t believe how big he is! He wasn’t very smilie for me today, but with a face this cute, who needs a smile?!? I thumbed through the images when I got home and found so many funny faces, I can’t wait to proof them! I woke up to the funniest sight this morning…. We are still struggling to get Taryn to stay in her bed. We do good until about 2-3 am, when we’re just too tired and cave in and let her come sleep with us. Well, I woke up this morning to Taryn sitting up between us, just chatting away. I look over at Jason who is still sound asleep and he has her cowgirl hat on! LOL! It had been on the nightstand, Taryn must have grabbed it and thought Jason needed some accessorizing first thing in the morning! Oh how I wish the camera would have been within arms reach!! 12:30 am

at the Stradtner house….and what do we find? a baby who absolutely refuses to stay in her bed…but it just way too tired to roam around her room for even one more minute!! LOL!!!! Jason came running into the living room to get me when he found her like this….totally konked out. She didn’t budge when I snapped the picture, flash and all, or when he picked her up and put her back into her bed. Funny girl.

I have been feeling some mommy guilt lately that I don’t have a baby book for Taryn. Second child syndrome combined with hurricane katrina overload maybe? This blog is the closest thing I’ve got, so please bear with me as I post a few things about her. I can always go back and print out my blog, that counts right?! darned old email

It appears that I have been having email trouble for at least a week or two and didn’t even know it. So if you’ve sent me an email and I haven’t replied, please resend it! I wasn’t ignoring ya, I just didn’t get it! =)

surgery

Here’s my Ty. I still have an entire session with him I haven’t proofed yet, but I dug just one out today. When Ty was born his tongue was attached to the very end. Kevin and I made the decision to not have it clipped to try and avoid nursing problems with a brand new baby. Well, it’s always bothered him, and about a month ago he tore it just a little. Enough to hurt really bad and keep him from talking and eating. We brought him to the doctor and he was put on some anti-biotics to fend off infection along with a local anesthetic. We were referred to an ENT and finally got in to see him yesterday. […]
