CURRENTLY WANDERING

Hi!  We are a God loving family: Jason, Lyndsay, Ty, Taryn, Jude, Jonah and Zachary. In 2017 we sold our 2,400 square home in Leander, Texas, along with most of our belongings and bought a 400 square foot fifth wheel RV to hit the road and travel full time with 4 of our 5 kids and 2 dogs (Maggie and Pepper). We longed for a more simple life with less stuff and more adventure.  Our goal is to eventually visit all 50 states!  Our bucket list is long and we love adventure, hiking and national parks!  Lyndsay is a professional family travel photographer and loves capturing all their family adventures.  We hope you’ll follow along on our journey!

WHERE TO NEXT?

We left Texas late 2017 and went to Arkansas, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida. In 2018 we hit the southwest, west coast and pacific northwest before looping back down to Texas for the fall and winter. In 2019 we meandered up the east coast, jumping up to Michigan and across to Maine before heading back to Texas for winter.  2020 landed us quarantining in Alabama before heading out Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington.  Winter in 2020 took us to Texas, Alabama and Florida, including the Keys.  2021 we hopped around the east coast.  2022 was spent in Utah, Oregon, and Washington before we did the “wiggle down the middle” through the midwest.  We visited our 48th state in early 2023!  We spent 2023 on the East coast including Pennsylvania, Maine, Massachusetts and North Carolina.  2024 brought us back to the west, Taryn graduated high school in Moab, was an extra on The Chosen TV series and we spent our summer in Colorado where she was an intern learning how to farm.  In 2025 we are headed to Washington state to serve the church.

The little one is sick.  Fever, not sure why.  She never gets sick.  I can probably count the number of times she’s been sick on one hand and I’m so thankful for that.  I hate it when she is, but man is she cuddly.  Jason eats it up.  She’s quiet, it throws the entire house out of wack. Ty started a summer bowling league yesterday.  This is going to be good for him, he needed something since he didn’t want to play baseball for the first time in 6 years.  🙁  I missed it more than he did.  I’m so used to summers at the ball park, sitting in the stands, bags of peanuts, grass stained polyester….sigh.  I can’t make […]

some shots by ty

I think he rocked it yesterday.  What do you guys think?  the sign on the old soda shop, an institution in slidell, but katrina destroyed it.  the building and this sign are about all that’s left…so sad katrina grafiti ty spotted a 20 foot old fish statue in bayou liberty.  it was huge, i have no idea what it’s for, but thought the texture looked pretty cool on this one. I think this is my favorite from the day, Old Town Slidell. I spotted this old car when we were leaving the neighborhood.  The owners happened to be outside so we stopped and asked if we could photograph it.  I think they thought we were nuts. He shot these in […]

the fun day

An entire day of fun!  Ty got to choose what he wanted to do all day today.  My mom came and stayed with the baby so we could run off and do whatever he chose with our full attention.  This morning he chose a photography lesson (love that!), then we met Jason for lunch at Olive Garden (Ty loves Balini Tea), then to Chuck E Cheese for games and fun.  After that we came home for cake and gifts.  We had a blast.  I took a ton of pics and have to tell you that Ty really rocked it with the camera this morning.  He did so good.  If he keeps at it, I can’t image where photography could take […]

I met someone amazing. One hour old, all fresh and brand new.  Ty was a surprise.  To say I was shocked to find out I was pregnant is an understatement, I thought I had the flu!  This photograph seems like it was taken a lifetime ago.  I had to dig it up out of an old online album.  I had an image in my mind that I wanted to post but couldn’t find it anywhere.  I guess the storm ate the last copy unless my mom has one somewhere.  It was me holding Ty for the first time and I just looked amazed by him.  Kevin was standing over us with his hand on Ty’s chest.  I see that image […]

FINALLY!

Taryn finally went on the potty!  Yay!!!  Last night before her bath!  I’ve put in so many hours in that bathroom with potty training, I’ve lost count, but it’s a lot.  Let’s just say she’s a pokey little bugger, and up until last night she never actually went.  You’d have thought we won the lottery with Jason, Ty and I jumping up and down, clapping and carrying on.  Of course she looked at us like we had all completely lost our marbles!  Never in a million years did I dream that someone going potty would totally make my day and make me feel so proud!  The joys of motherhood right?!  =) And thank you to everyone who posted in the […]

good doggie or bad doggie?  what do you think? I’ll be back later with the answer 😉

prepare yourself….

for an UNREAL amount of cuteness…. seriously…. are ya ready?…. ok, but don’t say I didn’t warn ya! Sometimes I love it when clients totally ignore my advice.  Little Klaire’s mommy pulled out the lollipop dress and said "I know you say no bold patterns…but…"  I thought I’d died and gone to heaven!  As it is I have a soft spot for any mom that blows up a photograph of her child covered in cookie for her dining room wall and orders silly face pictures for their Christmas cards – LOVE that! Katie – you’re gonna have to save me on this one and post to tell us where you got the lollipop dress!?!  I’m positive I’ll have at least […]

warning: bad photography and an ugly series of events

What do you do when your brother is in your way? Well, first, you’d grab him by the ears… then, you would pick him up… then, you would fling him across the pool while being very annoyed that you even had to do this… lastly, you would bask in the glow of success…while avoiding angry looks from the other side of pool… Lord help us all….there is a 2 year old in our house.

That’s what we say to the start of hurricane season today.  It gives me a pit in my stomach that doesn’t go away until winter.  I hate it.  It makes me worry, and think about all the "what ifs" I don’t want to think about.  What if another storm comes, what if our home is destroyed again, what would we do?  Could our family do this again?  Probably not, we’d probably walk away, for our own sanity, for our children, for our marriage.  Katrina was such a challenge for us…and we’re so ready to be done with it…but today is the beginning of another season of worry. No sessions this weekend.  Weird.  I keep having this nagging feeling like I’m […]

hehehe

I found this today while I was looking for something else.  This was taken last spring before Taryn’s first birthday.  This is what we call "beat the drum" at our house.  It makes me giggle.  Thought it might make you giggle too =)

performance review

Today started like most other days, rise and shine, fix breakfast.  I decided to let Taryn have some Ovaltine "choco milk" as she calls it with breaksfast.  I handed it off to her, she took a great big swig, looks at me and says "good job Mom good job".  LOL  So matter of fact.  And not Mommy, but Mom?!  I’ve been waiting for almost 2 years for some feedback from my employer, ya think I’ll get a raise??  =) House news:  Our fireplace was removed and thanks to a lot of prep work, the mess was contained.  We’ve been living in the dining room and den area since we had to empty the living room.  We decided it’s a good […]

water

When I photographed Philip this weekend he had the coolest sand and water table.  We’ve been thinking about getting Taryn one and when I came home and showed Jason the one Philip has, he picked one up while birthday shopping for one of Ty’s friends at Toys-R-Us on Sunday.  Yesterday our fireplace was torn out so we were trapped into the dining room, den area and outside for the day.  Jason put her table together and I pressure washed the back porch.  I LOVE it that she can go outside in the backyard now that Jason fixed the fence.  We had to drag her inside at dusk kicking and screaming.  First thing this morning "Mommy, outside!?  Water?!?!" figuring it all […]

my loves

love of my life finally….someone thinks I’m hilarious Even with all our furniture piled into one room because we’re getting ready for fireplace demo tomorrow, Ty found a place to stretch out with a book…. As I tucked Taryn into bed tonight, she amazed me once again.  Jason was in the living room cutting plastic sheeting and tearing tape to put up in all the doorways for tomorrow.  It went something like this…. Taryn:  Mommy, what dat? (pointing toward the door)Me:  That’s Daddy honey, he’s cutting tape.Taryn:  He workin? Me:  Yes baby, daddy is workin.Taryn:  Where Ty? Me:  Ty’s workin too.Taryn:  Ty big boy. Me:  Yes baby, Ty is a big boy.Taryn:  Big boy go nite nite Mommy? Me:  Yes, […]
