CURRENTLY WANDERING

Hi!  We are a God loving family: Jason, Lyndsay, Ty, Taryn, Jude, Jonah and Zachary. In 2017 we sold our 2,400 square home in Leander, Texas, along with most of our belongings and bought a 400 square foot fifth wheel RV to hit the road and travel full time with 4 of our 5 kids and 2 dogs (Maggie and Pepper). We longed for a more simple life with less stuff and more adventure.  Our goal is to eventually visit all 50 states!  Our bucket list is long and we love adventure, hiking and national parks!  Lyndsay is a professional family travel photographer and loves capturing all their family adventures.  We hope you’ll follow along on our journey!

WHERE TO NEXT?

We left Texas late 2017 and went to Arkansas, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida. In 2018 we hit the southwest, west coast and pacific northwest before looping back down to Texas for the fall and winter. In 2019 we meandered up the east coast, jumping up to Michigan and across to Maine before heading back to Texas for winter.  2020 landed us quarantining in Alabama before heading out Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington.  Winter in 2020 took us to Texas, Alabama and Florida, including the Keys.  2021 we hopped around the east coast.  2022 was spent in Utah, Oregon, and Washington before we did the “wiggle down the middle” through the midwest.  We visited our 48th state in early 2023!  We spent 2023 on the East coast including Pennsylvania, Maine, Massachusetts and North Carolina.  2024 brought us back to the west, Taryn graduated high school in Moab, was an extra on The Chosen TV series and we spent our summer in Colorado where she was an intern learning how to farm.  In 2025 we are headed to Washington state to serve the church.

South Carolina – Day 6

Our last day of vacation.  A couple of things that brought Taryn an unmeasurable amount of joy! First, the hotel’s shuttle bus.  Every time we went into or out of the hotel she’d yell "LELLO CHOO CHOO TRAIN" (translated – yellow choo choo train).  And without fail one of use would say, "no, it’s a blue bus".  And she would say "A bue bus?!?!?"  It became her thing that she teased us with by day 6 – so cute.  She knew it was a blue bus, but she just wanted to hear us say it and she’d sound so surprised every time and just giggle.  I had to take a picture of it 🙂 Are elevators a source of enjoyment […]

South Carolina – Day 5

Sorry, I’m a few days behind.  =) We finally made it to the plantation and it was worth the wait.  We were thinking it would maybe be a couple hour thing but it could have been an all day thing.  We did the house tour but they wouldn’t let me take pics, said the flash hurts the furniture.  So just outdoor / grounds pics.  We also took the kids on the train around the grounds.  Here are a few favorites… Taryn thought the peacocks were chickens.     Jason took this one hehe…just too much going and not enough napping. Leaving the plantation we passed the cemetary where one of the fallen 9 firefighters was being laid to rest.  There […]

South Carolina – Day 4

Thanks to everyone who has come to visit my little old blog – I love all the comments!  Keep em coming! Today we had a hard time deciding what to do.  We found a great little hole in the wall diner with decor straight out of the 70’s.  Complete with gold sunburst clocks and brown tile floors.  But the food was awesome, we’re going back for breakfast again tomorrow.  My handsome hubby… Here is Taryn diving into the tour guide book trying to decide what to do for the day.  It started storming during breakfast so we decided to put off the plantation and beach until tomorrow in hopes for better weather.  Instead we decided to go downtown to the […]

South Carolina – Day 3

(((sorry I’m late posting – the internet was down at our hotel))) Today was so much better.  Jason had to work today but the kids and I slept in and then had breakfast down at the hotel restaurant.  Not exactly a kid friendly place, but we did pretty good, Taryn didn’t scream through the meal thankfully.  I must say though that she did clean the buffet out of strawberries.  And every time one happened to hit the floor, our waiter was right there to pick it up 😉 I decided to put the cameras away this morning.  I put them both in the safe and then took the kids swimming.  I needed some space from being so upset that my […]

South Carolina – Day 2

Today was not a good day.  I woke up after Jason left for work and realized he forgot to leave me the stroller that was in the back of the rental car.  This meant I would have to literally chase Taryn all day long or carry her.  Anyone with a 2 year old knows this isn’t fun.  So I called the Aquarium and as luck would have it, they had strollers there I could use, I would just have to manage both kids and our stuff down to the dock and pier, on the water taxi and then through town to the Aquarium.  Not fun with a toddler who loves to pull away and run off, near water no less, […]

South Carolina – Day 1

We got up at 4 am….man is that early.  Flying with 2 kids is a J.O.B. Two flights, waaaaay too much stuff.  Taryn fussed the entire first flight but did good on the second one.  I thought she might get scared during take off and landing but she did great.  She even let out a few "wwweeeeeeeeeeee" sounds 😉 Ty did good, he always does, that kid loves to travel.  I’ve never seen anyone who loves to stay in a hotel as much as Ty does.  He just gets giddy. Sunrise at the airport in NOLA My biggest irrational fear is bridges.  Don’t like em.  Never will.  I distracted myself by taking pictures of it – it’s huge and we […]

necessity accessory

We’ve been busy today packing and getting ready for vacation.  A week in South Carolina, I can’t wait! (And if anyone creepy is reading this blog – just know that we have 1) a housesitter  2) a big dog and 3) a great security system.  Just sayin). I kept trying to pack her suitcase but packing with a 2 year old isn’t easy.  "No No Mommy, I do it."  So….this is what you get when a 2 year old packs…the necessities (barney, diapers and her teddy)…she tried her hardest to get that darned shopping cart in there, but it just wouldn’t fit.  LOL!  I’m not sure how she’s going to survive without her shopping cart for 7 whole days?? Taryn […]

stuff I love

Thought I’d log on today and share some of the everyday things that make me happy. Love Love Love Taryn’s new Mary Jane Rain Boots from Uncommon Goods.  They are a little big but she loves stomping around in them already! Another of my new favorite things, my pretty stiped laptop case. Finally found the PERFECT shirt for the hubster.  hehehe We’re gonna get Ty, and we’re gonna get him good.  Just waiting for the right moment.  The bog monster is coming soon. Bwahahahaha. I’ve gotten a few emails and comments asking whether or not I use actions on my photos.  Yes and no.  Well, sometimes.  =)  It just depends on the photo really.  I like to proof each image […]

daddy-o

Click Here:  A TRIBUTE TO SOME AMAZING DADS I have had the pleasure to photograph some amazing dads over the last year.  I hope you all enjoy your Father’s Day! Special thank you to the amazing Frances England for use of her song, Daddy-O.  She’s as nice as she is talented!  Her music totally captures the essence of childhood – you should check her out! www.francesengland.com And what would a Father’s Day post be without a few pics of the dad in my life?  Ty’s first time fishing and one of the first fatherly moments between Jason and Ty. Taryn just a few weeks old.  This was just before we evacuated for Katrina.  She sure was tiny. And my more […]

Attack of the 50 foot toddler!

We were dying to get out of the house yesterday so I took the kids over to my mom’s house to run through the sprinker.  My mom called before we left and suggested I bring the slip and slide Ty got for his birthday. Haha!  Doesn’t she seriously look like she’s 10 feet tall?!  I love the perspective of this one. Of course right after this she kicked him in the head and proceeded to pick him up by the ears (again) to move him.  As much as I’d love to say Taryn loves having Ty home for the summer, she really is annoyed by how much he gets her in her way.  Ty loves every minute of it though, […]

fess up

Alright – fess up – who is the smarty pants who voted as my husband in the poll!?  Hehe…you’re sooooo funny!  We were talking last night and the hubster was a little worried he missed something!  LOL!  I can only handle one! Let me just take this opportunity to say that I soooo wish I could blog Jason more.  The man gives me some good material, he really does!  I am still dying to blog the giraffe hickey incident and it’s been at least 6 months!  I try not to advertise every silly thing he does to the world.  I think he pretty much reads the blog when he does something dumb to see if I’m talking about him LOL!  […]

keep an eye on that nu-nu

Taryn developed a new fear when we bought a new vaccum cleaner.  She was fine with the old one, she drag out her toy one and go to town cleaning with me.  Not anymore, total and complete fear.  If you even say the "V" word, she darts for the couch in complete fear and won’t get off until you put the "nu-nu" away.  Total and complete irrational fear.  Yesterday Ty tracked mud through the house and I happened to have the camera out when he brought out the nu-nu.  Can you see the uncertainty in her eyes?

whoops…

Forgot to put this one in the post below.  For some reason I just love it…

the last session

A few favorites from my last session for the summer.  The last official session for Giggles n Grins Photography.  When I start back up, Life in Motion Photography will be in full swing!  To say this family is fun just doesn’t do them justice – they were a riot!  This one totally cracks me up, the look on his daddy’s face, Klaire’s pigtails flying through the air and the look on her face, classic "daddy’s gonna get you!" Katie & crew – I hope you love your photographs – thanks for a great time!

sick baby

Still sick, but just a fever so far.  Hanging out on the couch with her baby.  So not like her, she is usually everywhere, all over the house.  Yesterday she wanted to play so bad, she’d get up to go and I’d find her just hanging out on the living room floor or on the floor in her bedroom a few minutes later.  She told me, "Mommy, I so tired."  Poor thing, she wants to feel better, but she just doesn’t.
