CURRENTLY WANDERING

Hi!  We are a God loving family: Jason, Lyndsay, Ty, Taryn, Jude, Jonah and Zachary. In 2017 we sold our 2,400 square home in Leander, Texas, along with most of our belongings and bought a 400 square foot fifth wheel RV to hit the road and travel full time with 4 of our 5 kids and 2 dogs (Maggie and Pepper). We longed for a more simple life with less stuff and more adventure.  Our goal is to eventually visit all 50 states!  Our bucket list is long and we love adventure, hiking and national parks!  Lyndsay is a professional family travel photographer and loves capturing all their family adventures.  We hope you’ll follow along on our journey!

WHERE TO NEXT?

We left Texas late 2017 and went to Arkansas, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida. In 2018 we hit the southwest, west coast and pacific northwest before looping back down to Texas for the fall and winter. In 2019 we meandered up the east coast, jumping up to Michigan and across to Maine before heading back to Texas for winter.  2020 landed us quarantining in Alabama before heading out Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington.  Winter in 2020 took us to Texas, Alabama and Florida, including the Keys.  2021 we hopped around the east coast.  2022 was spent in Utah, Oregon, and Washington before we did the “wiggle down the middle” through the midwest.  We visited our 48th state in early 2023!  We spent 2023 on the East coast including Pennsylvania, Maine, Massachusetts and North Carolina.  2024 brought us back to the west, Taryn graduated high school in Moab, was an extra on The Chosen TV series and we spent our summer in Colorado where she was an intern learning how to farm.  In 2025 we are headed to Washington state to serve the church.

more house pics

Are you guys sick of me talking about house stuff yet??  I’m sure the answer is yes!  We are so tired of being consumed by it too.  We’ve been working non-stop to get the house ready to show.  So many little details that sneak up on you, like the sudden necessity to iron 22 sheers for the house.  We’re at the point where the last bit of mess tends to rotate from room to room.  Our long list of things to do is down to one page at least!  I can’t wait until it’s 100% done, all this work and morning sickness just don’t mix. Here is what we are calling the "Mock Nursery".  We decided to clean this room […]

the best news ever

Two weeks ago my OB did an ultrasound and determined our little one wasn’t growing as expected.  The peanut was behind by a good 10-11 days.  We knew our conception days were right on, so that wasn’t the issue.  It was a long, scary two weeks.  I was under strict orders to take it easy, no stress, put my feet up and take it easy.  I did the best I could.  Jason took over handling all the house stuff, Ty helped with Taryn a lot, helped keep her busy during the day and I rested as much as I could.  Our OB was worried, very worried, and so were we.  Today was our follow up ultrasound, and after a long […]

701 days

701 days of worry. 701 days of work. 701 days of stress. She changed our lives in ways we never imagined.  We went through a lot in our first year of marriage, a new baby, Ty’s adoption, Katrina stole everything but our health, thankfully we have that.  Thankfully, we were young and able.  Able to rebuild.  Able to find the strength in our marriage to make it through.  Able to lean on one another when we needed to.  Able to put on a brave face for the sake of our children when they needed it. We’re done.  The house is done.  No more construction, no more working into the night or having people working in our home.  No more living […]

I bet…

…my laundry is cuter than yours 😉 Dare I say it???  Here goes…..the house is almost done!  WAHOO!  The days of having a construction crew in my house are DONE.  We have one guy here today finishing up a few small things and that’s it!  After having so many people in our home for over the last month, all while suffering morning sickness and chasing two other kids, this is a HUGE relief for me.  I get my house back.  Whew. Granted, the place is trashed, so dusty and grimy from all the work.  We have a very long list, about 2 full pages, of things to be done this week before the house goes on the market.  Everything from […]

It’s great to be two!

Thanks for all the well wishes, comments and emails about Ty.  He’s doing well today, in pain still but looking more his perky self by the minute.  He’s still eating mostly liquids but hopes to graduate to soft foods by tomorrow. Ok, now on to birthday pics.  Here are just a few snapshots.   Ice cream theme, so fun (and yummy)!  Ty and I made all the paper ice cream cones…. For the last few months Taryn has been asking her daddy for a "new bike"  –  she asks with this cute little head tilt thing with big puppy dog eyes…."daddy, taryn new bike"…there’s no way he could resist it.  Notice the new yellow crocs – her absolute favorite shoes in […]

Ty’s Surgery

After months of anticipation, Ty had his surgery today.  He was really nervous about it (and so was I), but all went well.  For those that don’t know, Ty was born with his tongue attached to the tip.  It bothered him, but not enough to do anything about it until it started to tear a few months ago, which was very painful.  We had to wait for it to heal before the surgery could be done. He did great. He was starving because he couldn’t eat anything until the surgery at 1:30 this afternoon.  Being the growing boy that he is, he normally eats at least 4 or my times by then!  The surgery took less than an hour as […]

Ty’s room is "almost" done.  This is honestly the cleanest I have ever seen his room.  Ever.  Not exactly what we would want it to look like if the house wasn’t going on the market, but I think it works to show.  Not the greatest pics, but you get the idea… I took down his nice dark brown curtains because all the window coverings will go with the house and I don’t want to part with them.  He still needs an outlet cover below the window and I ordered a few pics scenic landscape shots from our destination wedding in hawaii to put in the frames on the wall….the wall color is a light robin’s egg blue… Our new contractor […]

why post at 12:40 am?

Cause that’s when I’m awake.  Which seems to be a rarity these days.  Me being awake that is.  I took a 4 1/2 hour nap with the little one today and still went to bed at 9:30 pm.  I’ve never required this much sleep.  I can usually live on just 4 hours or so.  It’s insane.  And I’m talking good, kick butt, wake up in the same spot, don’t move all night, coma like sleep.  Theres nothing like good pregnancy sleep, I never knew it existed before I got pregnant with Ty.  I kinda feel sorry for men, they don’t really know how good sleep can be.  The bad part is, that as my head hit the pillow tonight, all […]

I’ve been a bad, bad blogger.

((((posting late as our internet was out again)))) Thanks to all of you who continue to check in on us, even though I haven’t been posting very often!  I used to be such a good blogger, I posted daily, religiously, without fail.  Our internet has been hit and miss all week for some reason.  And morning sickness has taken over.  It’s all consuming and debilitating, especially with 2 other children who don’t fully understand my sudden, and urgent, need to slow down a bit.  Thankfully, Ty is a huge help keeping Taryn busy during the day while Jason is at work if I just can’t keep up.  I’ve taken to napping with Taryn every day and then going to bed […]

see it? look close…..

the new hiding place of choice is the kitchen pantry.  She’s in and out of there 15 times a day at least.  Walking out of my bedroom I realized it was quiet.  Too quiet.  I walked into the kitchen and the pantry door was closed but the door handle was moving.  My camera was sitting on the counter thankfully.  Little stinker was trying to sneak up me!  She said "BOO MOMMY I SEE YOU!".  My funny girl.

not sure what it is

but there is something about this that I just love.  I blew it out, so maybe it’s the motion.  Her.  Totally her.  Constantly moving, she’s everywhere and into everything.  It makes me crazy.  And I love it. She’s almost 2 and hasn’t had a haircut.  I really need to do something about that.  It’s so uneven, one side is longer than the other so it flips up.  Her hair is always in her face, I was hoping we could wait until it was all at least chin length and get her a cute little bob cut, but I don’t think we’re going to make it… I have my house back today.  It’s peaceful and fabulous, even if it is unfinished.  […]
