CURRENTLY WANDERING

Hi!  We are a God loving family: Jason, Lyndsay, Ty, Taryn, Jude, Jonah and Zachary. In 2017 we sold our 2,400 square home in Leander, Texas, along with most of our belongings and bought a 400 square foot fifth wheel RV to hit the road and travel full time with 4 of our 5 kids and 2 dogs (Maggie and Pepper). We longed for a more simple life with less stuff and more adventure.  Our goal is to eventually visit all 50 states!  Our bucket list is long and we love adventure, hiking and national parks!  Lyndsay is a professional family travel photographer and loves capturing all their family adventures.  We hope you’ll follow along on our journey!

WHERE TO NEXT?

We left Texas late 2017 and went to Arkansas, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida. In 2018 we hit the southwest, west coast and pacific northwest before looping back down to Texas for the fall and winter. In 2019 we meandered up the east coast, jumping up to Michigan and across to Maine before heading back to Texas for winter.  2020 landed us quarantining in Alabama before heading out Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington.  Winter in 2020 took us to Texas, Alabama and Florida, including the Keys.  2021 we hopped around the east coast.  2022 was spent in Utah, Oregon, and Washington before we did the “wiggle down the middle” through the midwest.  We visited our 48th state in early 2023!  We spent 2023 on the East coast including Pennsylvania, Maine, Massachusetts and North Carolina.  2024 brought us back to the west, Taryn graduated high school in Moab, was an extra on The Chosen TV series and we spent our summer in Colorado where she was an intern learning how to farm.  In 2025 we are headed to Washington state to serve the church.

"Lyndsay Stradtner beautifully and honestly documents her family as she also builds an impressive portfolio as a child photographer.  Stradtner has a knack for making photo sessions fun for little ones - and for amazing their parents when they see the results."

It’s a fact.

My blog hates me.  First I can’t get to it, then I can’t even log in on another computer.  Even Typepad customer service is having a hard time figuring it out.  Technical difficulties stink. A quick post before it locks up on me again……Little T got her first haircut after 2+ years.  She did awesome, sat still and didn’t even freak out when the hair dryer came on like she does at home.  She’s so big.  I’m so proud…. The goal was to get rid of all the crazy whispies she had going on…we want to get it all one length so she can have a cute little bob that she can tuck behind her ear.  I guess we’ll see […]

For some reason….

I can’t get to my blog?!?  Can anyone else get to it or I wonder if it’s just me??  I had to post this from the hubster’s computer but still can’t view it…..grrrrrr. Once I get it working again…..stay tuned for pics of Taryn’s first haircut yesterday!

a little business….

Hey guys I thought I would post this here because when we got back from Austin my inbox was about full!  If you sent me an email or left a voicemail and I haven’t replied yet, I’m sorry, I will, it might just take me a few days to catch up and get through them all! For clients that have orders in with me, don’t worry!  If your order has been placed and paid for, you will have it before we move – promise!  If I have your order but it has not yet been paid in full, please do so asap so that I can get the order in to the lab and to you before we move.  If […]

mission accomplished

Those are the first two words that popped into my mind when I woke up this morning.  Mission Accomplished. We’ve spent the last 4 days in Austin and we bought a house! Thrilled, totally thrilled! On the last night of our last day there after seeing wayyyyy too many houses. So relieved! Jason and I couldn’t agree on any house until we saw this one. We both fell in love with it immediately.  Four bedrooms and perfect for us in every way.  It met every wish on our list… I think my favorite part is that it backs to a greenbelt that can’t be built on so it has a great view with no back neighbors. We decided to go […]

this little piggy

says OINK OINK =) Taryn’s halloween costume came in the mail this week and she loves it!  I know I won’t have time to take a bunch of pictures once we start packing so I took this really quick this morning….she makes me smile.  Still waiting on Ty to make a decision on what he wants to be, I know he wants to go scary though.  Ahhh, I miss the days where he was a blue m&m. And thank you all for your warm wishes and thoughts on Katrina’s anniversary, we appreciate it more than you know!

two years

Katrina.  Two years.  I couldn’t really face it today.  I avoided the news and the radio.  I just didn’t feel like facing it.  I didn’t need to.  We’ve faced it every day for the last two years, so today can serve as a reminder for those who didn’t live it or for those who lost someone close to them.  Maybe it’s selfish, but I’m ready to move on.  And then when the house was quiet today I found my mind wandering and remembering what it felt like, that panic in my gut, watching a Category 5 storm barrel toward your loved ones and your home.  I still remember the look of panic and worry in my husbands eyes, I hope […]

because there is nothing funnier…

…than my husband dancing.  Seriously, you’d never guess it to meet him in passing, but he is, without a doubt, the funniest person I know.  And yes, after almost 3 months of trying to convince him to let me post these, he decided to go for it today!!  So, to keep me in good graces you guys gotta help me out and post comments (even you lurkers!) so he’ll feel famous 😉 I hope you enjoy these….you can tell by the uncontolable laughing and tears in the background that I enjoyed it!  (And sorry I they are sideways – I couldn’t figure out how to flip them). Without further adoo…… THE MILKSHAKE THE MONKEY THE SPRINKLER THE FINALE…..THE RUNNING MAN […]

who’s that?

Taryn points to the LCD as I’m taking these and says "dat Peanut Stradtner"….only "Stradtner" comes out more like "drat-der".  It melts my heart.  I decided to sit down with her this morning for a few quick shots since I didn’t do anything more "traditional" around her birthday.  Plus I figure I better take advantage of the pretty blue walls while we still own them…. even though I took these for the color, I’m on such a black and white kick lately… Now I’ve got to see if I can manage to catch Ty, he’s been avoiding the camera =)

sweet baby

Just a quick post….one of the cutie triplets from last weekend.  Looking at this little one makes me can’t wait to have a baby in my house again…

a bunch o’ randomness

1.  The big move.  I’ve been waiting to say anything about it until we told a few necessary people, first and foremost Jason’s employer (our families have known for awhile).  So where are we moving?  Austin, Texas!!  We are excited, nervous, anxious, just name an emotion and we’re there!  We’ve had a lot of time to think about it while rebuilding, we went for a visit earlier this year and loved it.  We’re closing on our house in Louisiana mid-October so we  should be in Texas by then.  I think it’s going to be a great place to raise our family, lots of young families, great neighborhoods, even better schools, tons of stuff to do.  We’ll be within driving distance […]

crossing nervous fingers

After 2.5 weeks of not so much as a nibble, not even a phone call and zero showings of our house, yesterday was the day.  An agent showed up unannounced during naptime with buyers in tow.  I had to ask them to come back because Little T was napping and it was time for Ty to get off the bus (ok, and cause the house was a mess too).  An hour and a half after frantically cleaning the house, waking T and loading up the kids and the dog to go drive around the neighborhood, they came back.  Viewed the house for around 20 minutes.  Yay, our first showing. Much to our surprise, we got an offer this morning.  A […]
