CURRENTLY WANDERING

Hi!  We are a God loving family: Jason, Lyndsay, Ty, Taryn, Jude, Jonah and Zachary. In 2017 we sold our 2,400 square home in Leander, Texas, along with most of our belongings and bought a 400 square foot fifth wheel RV to hit the road and travel full time with 4 of our 5 kids and 2 dogs (Maggie and Pepper). We longed for a more simple life with less stuff and more adventure.  Our goal is to eventually visit all 50 states!  Our bucket list is long and we love adventure, hiking and national parks!  Lyndsay is a professional family travel photographer and loves capturing all their family adventures.  We hope you’ll follow along on our journey!

WHERE TO NEXT?

We left Texas late 2017 and went to Arkansas, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida. In 2018 we hit the southwest, west coast and pacific northwest before looping back down to Texas for the fall and winter. In 2019 we meandered up the east coast, jumping up to Michigan and across to Maine before heading back to Texas for winter.  2020 landed us quarantining in Alabama before heading out Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington.  Winter in 2020 took us to Texas, Alabama and Florida, including the Keys.  2021 we hopped around the east coast.  2022 was spent in Utah, Oregon, and Washington before we did the “wiggle down the middle” through the midwest.  We visited our 48th state in early 2023!  We spent 2023 on the East coast including Pennsylvania, Maine, Massachusetts and North Carolina.  2024 brought us back to the west, Taryn graduated high school in Moab, was an extra on The Chosen TV series and we spent our summer in Colorado where she was an intern learning how to farm.  In 2025 we are headed to Washington state to serve the church.

indecent exposure

I have to share this, because it makes me laugh.  Can anyone guess how tall Taryn is?? Our poor, pitiful tree.  Naked at the bottom, giftless, yanked on and warped branches, with a crooked star at the top.  Poor thing went from living large on the tree farm to having a tortured final few weeks in the home of a toddler. A few other pics of the house since it’s finally starting to come together…. My mom sent us a GORGEOUS live wreath this year.  It smells soooooo good when you walk through the front door, I just love it!  Thanks Mom! Our mantel and stockings, which will be monogrammed once we decide on a name for our baby boy. […]

It’s a sign.

So we’re sitting at dinner tonight, eating lasagna.  Taryn is in her booster seat and she’s about done eating (which means it’s almost time to start playing with her food).  I see her hand rustling under the table, so I ask her, "Taryn, what do you have under the table?"….assuming it’s lasagna. Looks me right in the eye and says "A wedgie". No kidding!  Having a 2 year old with the word "wedgie" in her vocabulary is a sign that she has a 10 year old brother.  Who, by the way, almost spit milk through his nose laughing.

Quote of the Day

This morning while Little T and I were brushing our teeth….. Taryn:  While eyeballing my belly……"Our baby get bigger and bigger every day Momma"Me:  "Yup T, you’re right, my belly is getting bigger."Taryn:  "It could POP Momma."Me:  Laughing outloud….."do you think so?!"Taryn:  "Dat not funny Momma, it could." LOL….she’s not so good for my ego 😉 And Ty must have baby names on the brain because last weekend we had the TV set to the seasonal music channel.  As he was walking by he says….. "Mom, who would name their baby STEAMROLLER?!?"  Confused I said "what?"  Someone named their kid "Mannheim Steamroller"….why would you do that to a kid?! HAHAHAHAHAHA Once I explained it to him he didn’t think it […]

I love Santa

That’s what her shirt says 🙂 To say she was giddy to see her daddy as Santa, is an understatement.  She was comical!  She just kept following him all over the place and saying "I love you" over and over again.  Beyond tickled!! I bought the Santa costume on ebay right after Christmas last year so I got a great deal on it.  Worth every penny and a whole year of waiting to use it to see her sooooo happy.

Everyone else

is counting the days to Christmas. I’m counting the days until I get to see my mom again. Christmas + 1 day. I miss you Mom.

o christmas tree

In an effort to throw ourselves into the holiday mood, we made the trip out to the Elgin Christmas Tree Farm today.  It’s quite a ways from our house, but it was also a lot of fun.  It was both Jason’s and Taryn’s first time cutting down their own tree (Ty and I used to do it that way every year back when it was just the two of us). They had all kinds of animals and we went on a hayride, the kids loved it!  I have to mention though that bumpy hayrides and pregnant women don’t exactly mix well.  It was a little rough for me.  In that last uncomfortable month, I may be begging Jason to bring […]

a gift

We got up this morning and took a few Christmas pictures, it was now or never if we are going to get cards out this year.  I’ll give you a little hint and say that Jolly St. Nick was involved and it was way too much fun! And are you ready for this?!?!  I got a good 5 minutes of cooperation out of Ty.  AND I didn’t even have to pay him!!!  I don’t remember the last time that happened, last summer maybe??  Merry Christmas to me! I am lovin this shot…..so much that I made it into a new blog header (click refresh if you don’t see it up there)…..

random thoughts

As a mother of 2, soon to be 3, I have random thoughts constantly running through my mind.  Silent multi-tasking.  A check list of sorts, who needs what and when, who is going, who is coming and where they are, what will they eat next, oh the list goes on and on in my mind.  Maybe that’s why I am always telling Ty "I can’t hear myself think".  LOL. ~ Christmas is only a few weeks away and I haven’t done a thing.  Ok, that’s not true, I have a few decorations up, a wreath, a garland, but we are far from festive.  That must change this weekend.  We’ll hit the Christmas parade, travel out to a tree farm, hunt […]

road trip

A little Thanksgiving recap.  We were lucky enough to be able to take a little road trip down to Corpus Christi to see Jason’s parents and grandparents.  The drive isn’t too bad from Austin, only 4 hours compared to 10+ from Louisiana to Corpus.  My doctor is putting me on a short leash here pretty soon since both Ty and Taryn came early, so it will likely be our last little trip before the baby comes.  No traveling for Christmas, but that’s ok, we weren’t planning on going anywhere anyway. We had a really good time and the kids had a blast with all the grandparents – although I can guarantee you that they were whooped by the time we […]

but most of all

Today I am thankful for many things, my loving husband, our families, our health and our place in this world.  But there are so many little things that I am thankful for….. And tonight I was reminded of one of them.  The love my children have for each other.  I can remember feeling guilty having Taryn, that it would no longer be just Ty.  Like in some way, I was taking time and attention away from him by having another child.  I’d always heard that love doesn’t divide with your children, it multiplies, but it didn’t hit home until Taryn arrived, and then I "got" it.  I knew I would love both of my children, but I was totally unprepared […]

flyin

Yesterday while at the park with Anne Marie and Brick, Taryn spotted Brick going down the big slide. It’s pretty steep and he dove down it, flew off the end and bit the bark dust with a smile on his face – too funny! Taryn decided to try to be brave and go for it too….only it went down more like this…. you can practically hear the screeching can’t ya? and a quick snap of Ty and Taryn together, so rare, I have to share it.  Playing airplane at sunset… I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving tomorrow!!

anne marie

I got to go do the second half of Anne Marie’s maternity session this afternoon.  She picked the location since we’re still so new to the area and I immediately fell in love with it.  They had cut all the tall grass but there was water, trees, rocks, even a little pier to take advantage of, photographer heaven.  It was a lot of fun to explore the park with the kids and just stop and snap a few pics as we went.  I couldn’t wait to get home and download them for a closer look, I think this is my favorite from today… many more to come as I catch up on proofing =)

meredith the snowman

The kids and I went over to McGee’s house for a play date and lunch with the fabulous Miss Meredith this morning.  Ok, ok, so it was for the kids aaaand the mom’s – we got to subject them to our cameras 🙂  Mostly Meredith, who was the perfect size to fit into my snowman costume.  Have you ever seen such cuteness? She loved it, hat and all.  And I can’t tell you how many times she fell over trying to walk in it, she was comical!  But it’s nice and fluffy so she pretty much just bounced off her belly 😉  I could totally relate, both to the trouble walking and the big belly!! While we were there I […]

Brick

Isn’t he just adorable?!  But backoff ladies….I hear Taryn is interested and called first dibs 😉 Cute and he’s going to be a great big brother in just a few weeks!  I did Anne-Marie’s maternity session yesterday and had so much fun.  Brick was totally into being photographed, which is surprising, because his mom loves photography so he’s no stranger to the camera!  I loved it!  Anne-Marie was just glowing yesterday and looked fabulous, I can’t wait to dive into proofing.  We hope to get together during the week sometime before Thanksgiving to do a few on location outdoor shots before the baby comes too.  Think cool grassy fields.
