CURRENTLY WANDERING

Hi!  We are a God loving family: Jason, Lyndsay, Ty, Taryn, Jude, Jonah and Zachary. In 2017 we sold our 2,400 square home in Leander, Texas, along with most of our belongings and bought a 400 square foot fifth wheel RV to hit the road and travel full time with 4 of our 5 kids and 2 dogs (Maggie and Pepper). We longed for a more simple life with less stuff and more adventure.  Our goal is to eventually visit all 50 states!  Our bucket list is long and we love adventure, hiking and national parks!  Lyndsay is a professional family travel photographer and loves capturing all their family adventures.  We hope you’ll follow along on our journey!

WHERE TO NEXT?

We left Texas late 2017 and went to Arkansas, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida. In 2018 we hit the southwest, west coast and pacific northwest before looping back down to Texas for the fall and winter. In 2019 we meandered up the east coast, jumping up to Michigan and across to Maine before heading back to Texas for winter.  2020 landed us quarantining in Alabama before heading out Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington.  Winter in 2020 took us to Texas, Alabama and Florida, including the Keys.  2021 we hopped around the east coast.  2022 was spent in Utah, Oregon, and Washington before we did the “wiggle down the middle” through the midwest.  We visited our 48th state in early 2023!  We spent 2023 on the East coast including Pennsylvania, Maine, Massachusetts and North Carolina.  2024 brought us back to the west, Taryn graduated high school in Moab, was an extra on The Chosen TV series and we spent our summer in Colorado where she was an intern learning how to farm.  In 2025 we are headed to Washington state to serve the church.

temperment

Yes, I realize this is my 3rd blog post today, but in my defense, tomorrow will be busy!  Teagan has his first check up to follow up with his pediatrician after his NICU stay and my mother-in-law is taking Taryn and picking up my mom at the airport!  I’m so excited and so thankful that both Grandma’s have been able to come visit and help. My only other excuse is that I’m dying to show off our new handsome guy.  I could just sit and stare at him all day.  We’re still figuring out his temperment and it’s been comical.  He loves to check things out with one eye open and seems to constantly be looking for his daddy this […]

Teagan’s Birth Story

Thank you all so much for the well wishes and congratulations.  We are happy to all be home and that our little man is healthy.  One thing we have learned over the last 4 days is that the health of our children, is indeed, a gift.  It’s not something we are entitled to, should expect, or ever, for even one second, take for granted. My contractions started to get stronger on Saturday night around 11 pm.  We timed them for awhile and really dreaded tearing the kids out of bed and inconveniencing Mike and McGee (once again) in the middle of the night for yet another false alarm.  But what we feared more was the possibility of Jason delivering the […]

Quote(s) of the Day

Ok, so they weren’t spoken today, but I’ve been meaning to post them and keep forgetting…. Here is Ty’s….. Me:  Ty, you are pretty glad this baby is a boy huh?Ty:  Mom, you have noooooooo idea, I was just praying to the heavens above it would be a boy.  I love Taryn and all, but she’s such a giiiiiiiiiirrrrrllllll. And two from Little T….. As Jason was leaving for work yesterday morning, Taryn was in the living room and flips this over her shoulder:  "Now Daddy, you be a good boy at work today."  Of course that resulted in him coming back in for even more hugs and kisses bye. When my mom was here at Christmas, she was in […]

the rip stik

We joke at our house that before we purchase anything with wheels, we verify our health insurance coverage.  Ty is the clumsy kind, but he comes by it naturally, I’m about as clumsy as they come.  He got a Rip Stik for Christmas and while it’s uber cool, it makes his Momma very nervous.  He does great on it though.  If you don’t know what a Rip Stik is, it’s like a skateboard but it has one front wheel and one back wheel but the front and back of the board are connected by rubber.  You have to rotate your weight to ride it correctly.  I’ll go ahead and divulge that Jason busts his butt on it on a pretty […]

a little love

Little T and I had a busy morning of arts and crafts.  It keeps her busy and me sitting since I’m still pretty sore from Wednesday night.  Grandparents avert your eyes or be willing to pretend you’ve never seen these!  We made valentines, I’m lazy and bought a big kit this year, but she had fun with the glue none the less…she was very bossy about what got glued where and doing it all herself. I thought I’d share these too.  Since Ty loves to read so much we decided on Valentine bookmarks for his class this year.  He gave me a couple of "restrictions" though.  No photos (humph) and they couldn’t say "Love, Ty", it had to be "From, […]

Calla & Our Chaos

Yesterday started out being so much fun….I had asked Anne-Marie if I could borrow Calla for a few hours.  I wanted to break out my macro lens (that I never use because I have a hate/hate relationship with my tripod) and try it on a captive subject.  I see people use the 100 mm 2.8 Macro for baby shots all the time and was hoping to practice a little bit before our baby comes.  Plus, Brick and Taryn could play!  Total bonus when they showed up with Kolache’s!  Yumm-o!!  A few from our play date yesterday….I have such a sweet spot for her.  She’s just precious. I caught this one in between her attempts to either eat the fuzzy blanket […]

hook ’em

Now is Ty really a UT fan?  I’m not yet totally convinced.  He talks about them all the time, shows a ton of interest….but where did it come from?  My best guess is that his Uncle Scott loves UT, and Uncle Scott is cool.  And it’s an added bonus that Jase graduated from Texas A&M….he loves to razz his dad. The funny thing is, I can’t see the hook em sign and not think about Hawaii and our wedding.  We had a big group shot with all our guests after the ceremony making the "hang loose" sign.  We laughed as Scott and Jason’s dad fiddled with their fingers and thumbs to try and get it right =)  When we got […]

10 and 2, keep both hands on the wheel

a few more from today… I call her my fabulous mess, and she truly is. This one has been giving us fits lately…I don’t know what the deal is.  The age, all the change, I dunno.  The terrible 2’s, you hear about, but the terrible 10’s, no one warned us!   He looks sweet enough though doesn’t he? Soccer sign-ups, next weekend, it’ll be good for him, and us.  He needs something of his own to focus on.  I hope they run him.  Reallllllllly run him!  Ha!  Get some of that built up energy out.  That would be cool 😉

as two

Ty is out of school for the next few days, I love having him home!  I’ve been in a pretty cranky mood though, so in an attempt to cheer myself up, I took the kids up to the entrance of our neighborhood to snap a few shots.  It felt good to dust off the camera, although they weren’t all that cooperative.  Every time I snapped one of them together I thought, this could be the last shot of them as two.  They will soon be three.  This is one of my favorites…. More to come….but right now Taryn is pulling on my leg to go bake cookies.

Nesting

I am pretty sure I’ve been nesting since yesterday.  I woke up and cleaned out the fridge and then went grocery shopping with Taryn and purchased enough food to do some freeze ahead meals.  I then came home, cooked several lasagnas and proceeded to clean out our big old pantry.  Today I’m tackling a bunch of different chicken dishes.  Having lots of contractions, some Braxton Hicks, some just down right painful. And because I haven’t posted that many photos lately, here are a few of T….getting ready for her afternoon nap.  Sofie, her favorite blanket, her pillow and of course, her favorite "toy mag-zeens" and books.  Christmas shopping created a monster, she now sorts through the toy magazines telling us […]

I’m back!

I’m back!!  My computer is lit up!  It’s not 100%, it’s going to take awhile to get things running smoothly again, but I managed to get photoshop going.  To celebrate, I decided to ask Ty to take a few shots of the belly today. He was totally psyched to use the 5D. He did really good and even caught a few of Taryn coming over to yell at my belly "HEAD DOWN BOY, HEAD DOWN!" And he is head down!  After a horribly uncomfortable night last night, he managed to flip over.  I knew he was trying at around 11:30 pm.  I was so miserable but I just wanted him to flip, I honestly didn’t think he made it though […]

I’m still here…

and livin large! Thanks for all the comments =) No baby yet, but we’re getting closer and making progress. My OB is out of town and the Nurse Practitioner told me to “be ready” after she checked me this week. I have an ultrasound tomorrow to see if the baby has flipped over yet….please say a prayer that he has….I have a fear of c-sections but we’ll do whatever it takes to get our little man here as healthy as possible. I think this qualifies as a Quote of the Day: Jason has taught Taryn to run up to the belly, point at it and say “HEAD DOWN BOY, HEAD DOWN“. It was seriously cute the first 25 times are […]

Dear iBook,

I miss you. I’ve been good to you. I am loyal. I laugh at the mac/pc commercials. But you went and crashed on me. I’m going crazy without you. I can’t upload photos, I can’t proof, I can’t share. Do you know how crazy this makes me? I have adorable photos on my camera of Little T, and they just sit there, begging me to play with them, but you won’t let me. Don’t you know that this is not a good time to die on me? I have a baby coming any day. A baby that will be photographed, excessively. You have failed me when I need you the most. If you decided to snap out of it and […]
