CURRENTLY WANDERING

Hi!  We are a God loving family: Jason, Lyndsay, Ty, Taryn, Jude, Jonah and Zachary. In 2017 we sold our 2,400 square home in Leander, Texas, along with most of our belongings and bought a 400 square foot fifth wheel RV to hit the road and travel full time with 4 of our 5 kids and 2 dogs (Maggie and Pepper). We longed for a more simple life with less stuff and more adventure.  Our goal is to eventually visit all 50 states!  Our bucket list is long and we love adventure, hiking and national parks!  Lyndsay is a professional family travel photographer and loves capturing all their family adventures.  We hope you’ll follow along on our journey!

WHERE TO NEXT?

We left Texas late 2017 and went to Arkansas, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida. In 2018 we hit the southwest, west coast and pacific northwest before looping back down to Texas for the fall and winter. In 2019 we meandered up the east coast, jumping up to Michigan and across to Maine before heading back to Texas for winter.  2020 landed us quarantining in Alabama before heading out Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington.  Winter in 2020 took us to Texas, Alabama and Florida, including the Keys.  2021 we hopped around the east coast.  2022 was spent in Utah, Oregon, and Washington before we did the “wiggle down the middle” through the midwest.  We visited our 48th state in early 2023!  We spent 2023 on the East coast including Pennsylvania, Maine, Massachusetts and North Carolina.  2024 brought us back to the west, Taryn graduated high school in Moab, was an extra on The Chosen TV series and we spent our summer in Colorado where she was an intern learning how to farm.  In 2025 we are headed to Washington state to serve the church.

flashback

Taryn has seen the light and realized just how perfect and amazing Teagan is.  So thankful for that.  She loves him, kisses him, asks to hold him and even says "I love my Teagan" at random moments throughout the day.  I goota say though, that despite her new found love for the baby, she’s been a total toddler terror the last few days.  I think she’s transferring her frustrations over to me.  Either that or she has marshmallows stuffed in her ears that are preventing her from listening to anything I say. This brings a smile to my face… Sweet little chub-i-licious thing.  I was searching for something yesterday on my old external drive and stumbled across so many old […]

piggy backin the pigbear

My photographer buddy Erin has taken on a Momma Mondays post on her blog.  Love this idea!  If you don’t read her blog, check it out!  Last Monday, it was potty training,, this Monday, its books.  As a former kindergarten teacher, Erin knows her books for kids, so be sure to check it out. Being that my kids are varying ages, I’ll start with Ty.  I could go on and on for him though, he’s the big reader in our family.  He’d have his nose in a book 24/7, which sounds like a good thing, but I want him playing outside sometimes too!  It’s funny that both his teacher and his parents have stepped back to listen to themselves in […]

grandparents love

I love photographing grandparents with their grandchildren, because without fail, the love they share just comes pouring out, and it makes my job easy in capturing it.  Today was no exception.  Good thing too, cause my time off has left me pretty rusty!  It became very apparent that I need to get back in the groove of things….I’ve taken too much time off! I was lucky enough to get to photograph Ms. Meredith with her loving grandparents this morning… Ha!  I love it that this is how Mike gets Meredith to leave the park.  They walk home upside down!  Dude, when you’ve got a toddler, go with what works! It was fun guys =) On a side note, I had […]

the little things

I’ve been thinking a lot about how Teagan has changed our family.  A baby changes so much.  You individually, as a family, a baby changes your marriage, but it also changes your house.  I decided I really wanted to capture that, as these early days of a having a newborn are going by way to fast.  Soon he’ll be smiling, cooing, then sitting up and even walking.  All before we know it, and way before I’m ready.  He’s our last, so it makes it a little bittersweet.  The last, of all the first times.  And there are so many little things I want to remember.  Not just how little he is, or how he’s changed all the relationships in our […]

and the daddy gene takes over

Teagan is going bald.  We’ve noticed it a little here and there, but when I snapped a few shots of him this morning, there is no mistaking it!  I predict he’ll have a full on mullet before we know it!  LOL!  Taryn was the same way, born with dark hair that all fell out.  With her, it drove me nuts, I wanted my girl in pretty bows and cute little pigtails.  With Teagan, I’m thinking, yeah buddy, we’re gonna save on haircuts! If you want to compare, Teagan at 5 days old.  And at almost 5 weeks old…. Here you can see that Stradtner gene in full effect… He’s thinking "where did my hair go??"  =)

new friends

We got to meet and hang out with some amazing new friends today.  And the best part is that they will soon be our neighbors!  Alli and I became friends through email after she read on the blog we were moving to Austin, they were too!  We kept in touch over the months sharing our house hunting trips, having our old homes on the market, and all the little details that going into relocating.  It turns out when they started house hunting, they fell in love with our neighborhood just like we did.  In a few weeks they’ll make their move and we’ll have some wonderful neighbors, I can’t wait! Little Ms. Lily stole my heart when she spotted my […]

this one is for my momma

The Gee Gee made a special request for this one… I kinda like this one too though… Hope you like it and print it big Mom!

a quick nursery update

I got another round of prints in today.  Including the 12×12’s I ordered for Teagan’s nursery….. They look much sharper and crisp in person.  I really love seeing my images in print, I need to be placing orders much more often, I’ve really gotten to be bad about it.  I have no excuse either.  I upload all the images I take each month into an online album and then share it with our family and friends.  This way, if there is anything they want to order, they can get exactly what they want.  I used to just take requests from the grandparents, but that got a little overwhelming (and expensive).  My mom is a total self-proclaimed photo junky (that’s where […]

3’s

I love the number 3.  Always have.  I just do things in 3’s.  Besides the fact that I have 3 kids, I hang photos in groups of 3’s, I always line stuff up in 3’s….yeah, I probably have some weird form of 3 OCD.  Looks like even though Teagan looks like his daddy (although he is more of a mix than Taryn), he likes the #3 too. First, he’s sporting 3 chubbies on each leg.  And now this….gotta love the 3 chins! Classic 1 month old deer in the headlights look too!  Ha!  Thankfully I caught a few that are announcement worthy yesterday, so I need to finish them up here pretty soon and get them out.

the first best thing

about today is that we just got Teagan’s test results back early and he tested negative for the birth defect!  We’ve been assured that the first test was nothing more than a false positive.  We are so thankful our baby is well.  I’m pretty sure I stopped breathing when I heard the voice on the other end of the telephone.  And when I called Jason a few minutes later, I heard a huge sigh of relief, as if he’d been holding it in since Friday.  God heard our prayers and all of yours too….thank you all!  I wrote this in Teagan’s birth story post and it keeps running through my head…"One thing we have learned is that the health of […]

one month

We thought we’d celebrate Teagan being one month old by sporting a new blog banner!  Click refresh and check him out…his first debut!  I can’t believe he’s a month old already….gosh it goes by sooooo fast.

but he looks perfect to me

We received a telephone call today from our Pediatrician stating they received some test results back indicating Teagan may have a birth defect.  Part of me is devastated.  Part of me is hopeful they are wrong.  They could be wrong, we pray they are wrong.  We’ll know more by next Thursday.  I look at him and see how tiny he is, how helpless he is, and the thought of him being sick tears me apart.  I just want to hold him in my arms and stare at him every second to make sure he’s alright.  This feels so unfair.  I wasn’t sure if I should blog about it or not, but this is what’s happening in our lives and what […]
