CURRENTLY WANDERING

Hi!  We are a God loving family: Jason, Lyndsay, Ty, Taryn, Jude, Jonah and Zachary. In 2017 we sold our 2,400 square home in Leander, Texas, along with most of our belongings and bought a 400 square foot fifth wheel RV to hit the road and travel full time with 4 of our 5 kids and 2 dogs (Maggie and Pepper). We longed for a more simple life with less stuff and more adventure.  Our goal is to eventually visit all 50 states!  Our bucket list is long and we love adventure, hiking and national parks!  Lyndsay is a professional family travel photographer and loves capturing all their family adventures.  We hope you’ll follow along on our journey!

WHERE TO NEXT?

We left Texas late 2017 and went to Arkansas, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida. In 2018 we hit the southwest, west coast and pacific northwest before looping back down to Texas for the fall and winter. In 2019 we meandered up the east coast, jumping up to Michigan and across to Maine before heading back to Texas for winter.  2020 landed us quarantining in Alabama before heading out Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington.  Winter in 2020 took us to Texas, Alabama and Florida, including the Keys.  2021 we hopped around the east coast.  2022 was spent in Utah, Oregon, and Washington before we did the “wiggle down the middle” through the midwest.  We visited our 48th state in early 2023!  We spent 2023 on the East coast including Pennsylvania, Maine, Massachusetts and North Carolina.  2024 brought us back to the west, Taryn graduated high school in Moab, was an extra on The Chosen TV series and we spent our summer in Colorado where she was an intern learning how to farm.  In 2025 we are headed to Washington state to serve the church.

"Lyndsay Stradtner beautifully and honestly documents her family as she also builds an impressive portfolio as a child photographer.  Stradtner has a knack for making photo sessions fun for little ones - and for amazing their parents when they see the results."

I don’t dare post the photo I reallllllly want to post.

Cause McGee would likely kill me.  Photo of her with a complete look of joy and elation on her face going down the kiddie slide at the park.  Jase and I got a good giggle out of it.  I think she’s funny.  But, she’d likely kill me if I posted it.  And she knows where I live.  Soooooooo, here is one of the fabulous Meredith with her loving grandparents instead.  I’m finally finishing up this session, thanks guys for your patience!!

Randomness…

I’m sitting here stalking UPS.  Teagan’s birth announcements are due to arrive on my doorstep any second.  Given that I designed the announcements two months before Teagan arrived, you’d think it would have been easy, but no such luck.  Problems with printing delayed them, I couldn’t decide what pics to use and the perfectionist in me started over from scratch several times.  I finally decided to just throw in the towel and purchase a template.  I got it all done and now all I need is UPS to show up….tapping fingers. Ty is giving us fits.  I wonder how I’ll make it through the teenage years, he’s driving me mad.  Hormones kicking in I suppose.  Forty-five minute battle over homework […]

I couldn’t resist.

Yes it’s almost 1 am.  And yes, I have a million other things I could be doing right now, you know, like sleeping!  But I just couldn’t help myself.  This one has been calling my name for two days.  I finally caved and found myself sitting at my desk, peeking at it in the folder.  Then I went so far as to open it, and well, the rest is history…

Quote of the Day

HEB checkout clerk to Jason: "Sir, are you interested in any of our "wow" items on sale today, we’re offering hair gel?" Bwahahaha….I know they have to ask, it’s part of their job, but that poor clerk.  I’m still laughing.  Hard. Thanks for all the great comments on the bluebonnet pics…many more to come but I have to finish up a few other things first =)

a texas tradition

I’ve been planning these shots in my head since we first decided to move to Texas.  Texas wildflowers are so beautiful, I’ve never seen anything like it.  I managed to convince Alli and Mike into bringing Lily along and the kids just had a blast….a few favorites from the many I took, 6 GB in fact!!  Jase just laughed at me, I was in heaven… Many, many more to come, but for now, this tired momma is off to bed!

what day is it? duh.

Thanks Amy for reminding me about Flashback Friday!  Totally forgot….I call mommy brain.  You’d think I’d be able to remember Friday since I look forward to it all week…geesh.  I do actually have a decent excuse, I’ve been designing my new business cards during nap time.  Slowly but surely knocking down my todo list before launching our new business here in Austin.  Go me! I love this….it makes me smile daily.  I have this printed in a storyboard in T’s room.  My chunky monkey…. The chub, the ears, the toothers peekin out….I love it all.

What a little mess.

Teagan fell asleep in my arms yesterday evening after nursing.  I had to put him down in his crib for a few minutes and when I came back it struck me just how fabulous he is.  Total snapshot, one of those, hold the camera up over my head, don’t look through the viewfinder and shoot, random ones, but it makes me smile. Totally stretched out, binkie spit out across the crib (man he can get some distance sometimes!), chubbies hanging out, one sock (only halfway on), chillin in his super cute "handsome" getup… Thanks Alli for the cute little outfit, I can’t believe it fits him already!! This one was a little more thought out…but doesn’t give you the full […]

just stay little

Don’t grow up.  Just stay little.  Keep that sweet baby smell.  Fall asleep in my arms with your head on my chest.  Listen to my heartbeat while you’re there, its beating for you.  Drink milk till your stuffed full.  But come back for more within the hour.  Burp loud, so we are amazed at your little body and the noise it makes.  Curl your tiny little fingers around mine and hold on as tight as you can.  Grunt the way only you do, when you eat, when you sleep, when you’re just hangin out, just grunt, its so you.  Blow drool bubbles.  Love your paci, no matter how much it drives your momma nuts.  Keep one squinty eye on daddy […]

Wow

Just checked my stat counter and it hit 200,008 today!  Wow!  Thanks to all of you who take a few moments of your day to come here and share in a little slice of our lives, comment on the pics and share stories of your own.  I love hearing from you! And what’s a post without a photo?  We had a play date today and while I brought my camera, I didn’t snap a single shot.  I got too caught up in Mommy talk so here is one of Taryn from last month that I never got around to sharing.  I had a lot of unshared pics last month, I was a busy girl! Gosh I’ve been posting a lot […]

Pinkalicious

My wonderful sister-in-law sent Taryn a cute little book called "Pinkalicious".  Her girls, who are a bit older than T, just love it.  Thanks Aunt Dana!!  Pinkalicious is now all the rage at our house.  Since the very first reading, I have been getting requests to bake pink cupcakes.  So this morning we broke out the supplies and got to baking.  All I heard was "pink, pink, pink" LOL!  Thankfully I had some leftover pink stuff still good from Valentine’s Day. Love this…she looks so proud!  Her lips are all pink from eating frosting… Ok, so prepare yourself for this next shot, and don’t say I didn’t warn ya!  If you’ve read the book, you’ll get this (if not, in […]

I’m no Stephanie Fisher.

but yesterday I tried my hand at girl / bear photography.  Stephanie has a gorgeous daughter Hannah who has a much loved (and much photographed) Mr. Bear.  I thought of them a lot yesterday when we decided to go out for a long walk and Taryn decided to take her Mr. Bear along.  Our long walk, turned into a really, really long walk.  Teagan slept through it all and T and I just enjoyed being outside, walking along, talking about all the things we saw along the way.  We pretty much live out in the sticks and I realized I don’t use our surroundings to photograph the children very much.  We stopped a few times along the way for a […]

I love her more than words.

Dare I say it?  I "think" we might be seeing a light at the end of the tunnel with this crazy ride Taryn has been on since the baby came home.  I’ve had glimpses of my sweet, loving, funny girl in the last two days that have been missing for so long.  I’ve been so worried about her, she just seemed so sad, not eating (she’s down to 27 lbs), not sleeping, whining mess.  I was so afraid that this "phase" would stick and become a learned behavior, I’m so thankful for these little glimpses of my happy girl again….I’ve missed her like crazy.

tink, on the job

For some reason our phone keeps going out.  I don’t know if it’s the line or the actual phones since they’re a group and all connected, but it’s driving me nuts.  I really hope it’s not a result of the construction next door.  This morning I was trying to figure it all out and Taryn grabbed her Tinkerbell phone and offered for me to use it instead.  "Here mommy, just use Tink".  =) Raiding Ty’s Easter candy stash in his room…busted! Anyone remember waaaaaay back when Taryn had a complete and total irrational freak out fear of Tinkerbell at around a year old?  LOL…it was so funny.  One glimpse of old Tink and Taryn would totally flip out.  Tinkerbell and […]

weekend review

Learning patience.  It now officially takes us forever to get out of the house.  Multiple trips from the car to the house and back again.  Her way of coping with the chaos I suppose…there’s nothing a good toy catalog won’t solve.  We were trying to leave for the San Marcos Outlet Mall….Pottery Barn outlet.  We’re getting ready to redo Taryn’s room.  Fun stuff and way cheap.  I’ll have a hard time paying full price at a regular Pottery Barn store ever again.  Chillin with the daddy.  This was the view from the kitchen sink.  Something about their two cute bald heads peaking over the couch grabbed me. It’s safe to say an all out war is brewing in the Stradtner […]
