CURRENTLY WANDERING

Hi! We are a God loving family: Jason, Lyndsay, Ty, Taryn, Jude, Jonah and Zachary. In 2017 we sold our 2,400 square home in Leander, Texas, along with most of our belongings and bought a 400 square foot fifth wheel RV to hit the road and travel full time with 4 of our 5 kids and 2 dogs (Maggie and Pepper). We longed for a more simple life with less stuff and more adventure. Our goal is to eventually visit all 50 states! Our bucket list is long and we love adventure, hiking and national parks! Lyndsay is a professional family travel photographer and loves capturing all their family adventures. We hope you’ll follow along on our journey!

WHERE TO NEXT?

We left Texas late 2017 and went to Arkansas, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida. In 2018 we hit the southwest, west coast and pacific northwest before looping back down to Texas for the fall and winter. In 2019 we meandered up the east coast, jumping up to Michigan and across to Maine before heading back to Texas for winter. 2020 landed us quarantining in Alabama before heading out Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington. Winter in 2020 took us to Texas, Alabama and Florida, including the Keys. 2021 we hopped around the east coast. 2022 was spent in Utah, Oregon, and Washington before we did the “wiggle down the middle” through the midwest. We visited our 48th state in early 2023! We spent 2023 on the East coast including Pennsylvania, Maine, Massachusetts and North Carolina. 2024 brought us back to the west, Taryn graduated high school in Moab, was an extra on The Chosen TV series and we spent our summer in Colorado where she was an intern learning how to farm. In 2025 we are headed to Washington state to serve the church.

odds and ends from this week

So her, I love it when she sits like this…she does it all the time. So them. Every night, after baths, they rock, its their time. Love my boys. Out of the blue, she started counting to 5 in Spanish. She’s an amazing sponge. Thank you Dora the Explorer 😉 My girl…it was a bit of a rough week for her. Being 2 is tough stuff. A glimmer of a grin. And finally, a bit of the real thing, in real time! waiting, waiting, waiting

on Taryn to get up from her nap so she can pick the big winner of the free session! I had to bring Ty to the Dr. this morning and then T fell asleep in the car on the way home…so now I’m waiting. Sorry for the delay, if Ty gets home from school before Taryn wakes up I’ll let him do it and post the results! trying something new

I was inspired recently by this shot that my friend Anne Marie took of Calla (check it out and see how massively cute she’s gotten!). She used wrapping paper, isn’t that cool? I decided to pull some out of my stash this morning and give it a whirl with Taryn… I like it. And it’s cheap. And I can reuse it. Guess I can say I’m going green now huh? 😉 Here was my setup if anyone is interested in that sort of thing…although I’m wondering if my clients will think I’m totally off my rocker when I show up and start gift wrapping their front door before their session! LOL!

Teagan woke up this morning a smiley little man. It melts my heart. I’m charging up the camera to try and catch a few! Is anyone else super excited about the contest? I can’t wait to see who wins!! Deadline to enter is midnight tomorrow!

Taryn has been in rare form here lately. She’s super excited about her new room and with good reason, there’s been a lot of "build up" around it. We have been shopping over the last several weekends for a new twin size big girl bed. But it’s not just a big girl bed, is her self-proclaimed "super duper princess bed". And at some point she decided her new bed has a swing and a slide (it doesn’t) but boy is she in for a let down when she realizes her new bed is actually a bed and not a playground. burnout

I’m feeling a case of the Mommy burnout today. Weren’t weekends supposed to be relaxing?! My weekend was in one word, frustrating. Weird, cause it shouldn’t have been. Ugh, I’m just tired and burnt out. I think this Mommy needs some "me" time…but I’m not sure when that’ll happen. What I want to do more than anything right now is sit and play with my camera, relax and photograph something, but the batteries are dead in my camera, uhm, frustrating! LOL! How do you guys cure burnout?? Our house has been nuts with us trying to move the kids rooms all around. 2 months

I’m a little late on this, but we’ve been crazy busy here lately. I can’t believe that Teagan is already 2 months old, time is flying by. Not a day goes by that I don’t take time out to just sit and stare at him in amazement. And I often think to myself, this is what I missed with Taryn, this age, this time. Yeah, we were with her, but thanks to Katrina, we were so stressed, so distracted, so uprooted, its such a blur. I feel like in comparison we’re living in slow motion now, which I know it’s true! Ha! that silly lily

I had these pulled up on my laptop this morning and I called Taryn over to show her. She instantly did her signature hand over the mouth giggle and said "Oh that silly Lily!" and ran off. She’s right….that Lily is pretty silly…. Have I mentioned that Lily has a crush on Ty? She does. It’s so cute how smitten she is with him. But you know Ty, he’s so popular with the ladies (insert mom rolling eyes here). Are y’all tired of the bluebonnet pics yet? AND THE WINNER IS…….

Drumroll please!!!!!! Teagan "Mr. Serious" Stradtner decided to finally throw out that first smile this morning. And who got it? Old stinky Ty…humph. Ok, ok, so Ty isn’t old or stinky. I’m just a sore looser. It was knock your socks off, melt your heart, cute! And Ty is beyond thrilled. Shoulda known, Teagan adores Ty. He’s thrown a few more out during the day today…but he makes you work for it. Now I’ve just got to work on catching one with the camera.
