CURRENTLY WANDERING

Hi!  We are a God loving family: Jason, Lyndsay, Ty, Taryn, Jude, Jonah and Zachary. In 2017 we sold our 2,400 square home in Leander, Texas, along with most of our belongings and bought a 400 square foot fifth wheel RV to hit the road and travel full time with 4 of our 5 kids and 2 dogs (Maggie and Pepper). We longed for a more simple life with less stuff and more adventure.  Our goal is to eventually visit all 50 states!  Our bucket list is long and we love adventure, hiking and national parks!  Lyndsay is a professional family travel photographer and loves capturing all their family adventures.  We hope you’ll follow along on our journey!

WHERE TO NEXT?

We left Texas late 2017 and went to Arkansas, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida. In 2018 we hit the southwest, west coast and pacific northwest before looping back down to Texas for the fall and winter. In 2019 we meandered up the east coast, jumping up to Michigan and across to Maine before heading back to Texas for winter.  2020 landed us quarantining in Alabama before heading out Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington.  Winter in 2020 took us to Texas, Alabama and Florida, including the Keys.  2021 we hopped around the east coast.  2022 was spent in Utah, Oregon, and Washington before we did the “wiggle down the middle” through the midwest.  We visited our 48th state in early 2023!  We spent 2023 on the East coast including Pennsylvania, Maine, Massachusetts and North Carolina.  2024 brought us back to the west, Taryn graduated high school in Moab, was an extra on The Chosen TV series and we spent our summer in Colorado where she was an intern learning how to farm.  In 2025 we are headed to Washington state to serve the church.

Ask Me Anything: The Answers (aka – the longest blog post in history)

Thank you to everyone who asked questions!  This was a lot of fun!  I am simply amazed that so many people come here to peek in on our little lives.  I want to give one great big thank you for all your comments and wonderful compliments…..you guys know how to make a girl feel good!  I tried to stick to answering the questions but wanted to say thank you for making me feel so loved 🙂 A little disclaimer…..I’m no expert!  Many of these questions relate to how I do things, and my answers are honest and it’s what works for me.  But that doesn’t mean it’s "right", just right for me, so take it with a grain of salt! […]

they are coming

Promise. It’s been a crazy, heck of a day.  The big T has a case of the can I’s. The little T has been a loud 2 year old handful who has made 15 trips to the potty. The baby T is eating, not sleeping, fussing, drooling and then eating some more.  Hello 4 month growth spurt.  Good-bye sanity.  Who was it that asked about what a grasp I have on motherhood!  HAHAHAHAHA!  😉 Later tonight, I’ll post the answers.  Hopefully.

coming soon….

the answers to "ask me anything"….wooo-wee….my typing fingers are T.I.R.E.D!!  You guys had a lot of questions!!  Fun stuff!

Ty’s Day

He’s 11.  Wow, it’s funny how the older we both get, his birthdays are making me feel older than my own.  Of course, we’ll tell Ty’s birth story in our house today, it’s a favorite.  Big party today, we’re all ready for it.  I’ve talked with Taryn every day for the last week and think we’ve come to an understanding about birthday cake candles.  Guess we’ll find out huh?  I thought it would be fun to post a few of my favorite images of Ty from the past year.  He’s grown sooooooo much, probably more than any other year height wise. Turning 10, a full year ago, seeing his new drums (and he still plays them too!)   Happy Birthday […]

A few things you need to know if you’re gonna live in Texas.

Queso is considered a food group. "Howdy" means "Hi, how are ya?" and usually includes a nod of the head.  Go ahead, try it out, bet you can’t do it without the nod. And cowboy hats….well….they’re big here.  But, its windy….so you best hold on to hat…. A few other favorites… when you are 18 months old, smelling pretty flowers includes puckering =) And since I haven’t shared an entire session in quite a while, and because I love them all, CLICK HERE.  Lily is one amazing little girl, I just adore her and we are so lucky to have such wonderful friends in her parents! ps – I’ll be posting about Ty’s birthday tomorrow, then I’ll sit down and […]

Quote of the Day

While baking cookies this morning…. Taryn:  Mommy, can I eat this?  ((pointing to cookie dough))Me:  No, T, we have to cook it first.Taryn:  Just one little taste?Me:  Nope.Taryn:  I just want to lick it Mommy?Me:  Nope, we have to cook it first.Taryn:  Mommy, I want to tell you sumthinMe:  What’s that?Taryn:  Mommy, I want to be by myself with these cookies. HAHA!  Not even kid, but nice try!! I noticed the pretty light outside before dinner was ready.  I told myself that if it was still that pretty after we ate, I’d go out for a few shots.  We missed the best of it, the light was just dancing off the tall grass in the field down the street, so […]

ask me anything

Ok, so I thought I would post this thread, even though it feels a little silly to me.  I get a ton of emails with lots of different questions, everything you can imagine, personal, business, photography related, you name it.  I’m embarrassed to admit that I presently have 499 messages in my inbox (it was 852 until I cleaned some out last night).  I’m even more embarrassed to admit that there are quite a few of those messages with questions that I’ve not replied to.  I have good intentions, I really do.  I open them and then promise myself I’ll go back when I have two free hands (which is kind of rare around here) so that I can quickly […]

10 on Tuesday

and it’s actually Tuesday, how about that?! 1.  Our lives feel like total chaos right now.  Maybe it’s the fact that summer is here and that means more time outside, more go, go, go.  Maybe its the fact that our business just opened up this week, officially, and  its been a lot of work getting things ready to go.  Ty’s birthday party coming up, Jase is busy with work, Taryn’s taken a liking to using her outside voice 24/7, which Teagan is not liking.  And Teagan is teetering on that 4 month growth spurt, it’s coming, and the thought of it makes me tired.  He’ll want to nurse non-stop.  He’s been really fussy the last few days, thankfully, I ordered […]

you ever have one of those days

where you feel the need to apologize to every single person you toddler comes in contact with?  Ugh.  We had one of those days today.  Unfortunately, smack dab in the middle of sweet Meredith’s 2nd birthday party.  Taryn was, uhm, possessed challenging.  It was bad, really bad.   But uhm, this shall we say, "takes the cake" for Taryn’s orneryness…. Here is sweet Meredith, with her cake.  We were waiting, and waiting, and waiting some more for her to blow out her candles. annnnnd, someone got tired of waiting…. Yes, my child, climbed up on the table and blew out Meredith’s candles for her.  Nice huh?  She was tired of waiting for cake.  What a turd.    Although, I must admit, […]

one more…

I could post every single shot from this session…I love them all…

Lily

Back in the saddle again.  I had the pleasure of photographing Lily this morning to celebrate her 18 months. I think she looks so much like her Mommy here. I absolutely love her little dirty feet.  So her.  Girlie and tough, all rolled into one! And my absolute favorite of the day, I wonna blow this up and hang it in my house and she’s not even mine! Thanks for a fun time today, sweet, silly, Lily!

meat & noodles

So way back when I was a single mother, I would occasionally have to go out of town for work for short periods of time.  My mom would usually keep Ty while I was gone.  I still vividly remember the first time after Jason and I were engaged and I had to go out of town.  We decided Jase would take care of Ty while I was gone and when we told Ty, we thought he’d be excited at the extra guy time without old Mom.  Instead, he piped up with "Oh great, guess I get to eat meat and noodles for an entire week".  Yeah, he was around 6 years old and more observant than us…too funny…we’d never noticed […]

he got it!

I test both Ty and Taryn on a regular basis while making funny faces to check and see if they got my Elvis lip gene.  I have the ability to do a great Elvis lip.  But neither Ty nor Taryn can do it.  While thumbing through my memory card this afternoon, I stumbled upon this!!!!  Teagan got the gene….way to go buddy!!!  Me and you have lots of fun times ahead sporting our Elvis lip to the rest of family while giggling that they can’t do it!  Trust me, it’s fun stuff watching them all contort their faces and then stomp their feet in despair. Be sure to check in tomorrow for pics of Teagans baby book I had printed […]
