o christmas tree
In an effort to throw ourselves into the holiday mood, we made the trip out to the Elgin Christmas Tree Farm today. It’s quite a ways from our house, but it was also a lot of fun. It was both Jason’s and Taryn’s first time cutting down their own tree (Ty and I used to do it that way every year back when it was just the two of us). They had all kinds of animals and we went on a hayride, the kids loved it! I have to mention though that bumpy hayrides and pregnant women don’t exactly mix well. It was a little rough for me. In that last uncomfortable month, I may be begging Jason to bring […]
a gift
We got up this morning and took a few Christmas pictures, it was now or never if we are going to get cards out this year. I’ll give you a little hint and say that Jolly St. Nick was involved and it was way too much fun! And are you ready for this?!?! I got a good 5 minutes of cooperation out of Ty. AND I didn’t even have to pay him!!! I don’t remember the last time that happened, last summer maybe?? Merry Christmas to me! I am lovin this shot…..so much that I made it into a new blog header (click refresh if you don’t see it up there)…..
random thoughts
As a mother of 2, soon to be 3, I have random thoughts constantly running through my mind. Silent multi-tasking. A check list of sorts, who needs what and when, who is going, who is coming and where they are, what will they eat next, oh the list goes on and on in my mind. Maybe that’s why I am always telling Ty "I can’t hear myself think". LOL. ~ Christmas is only a few weeks away and I haven’t done a thing. Ok, that’s not true, I have a few decorations up, a wreath, a garland, but we are far from festive. That must change this weekend. We’ll hit the Christmas parade, travel out to a tree farm, hunt […]
road trip
A little Thanksgiving recap. We were lucky enough to be able to take a little road trip down to Corpus Christi to see Jason’s parents and grandparents. The drive isn’t too bad from Austin, only 4 hours compared to 10+ from Louisiana to Corpus. My doctor is putting me on a short leash here pretty soon since both Ty and Taryn came early, so it will likely be our last little trip before the baby comes. No traveling for Christmas, but that’s ok, we weren’t planning on going anywhere anyway. We had a really good time and the kids had a blast with all the grandparents – although I can guarantee you that they were whooped by the time we […]
but most of all
Today I am thankful for many things, my loving husband, our families, our health and our place in this world. But there are so many little things that I am thankful for….. And tonight I was reminded of one of them. The love my children have for each other. I can remember feeling guilty having Taryn, that it would no longer be just Ty. Like in some way, I was taking time and attention away from him by having another child. I’d always heard that love doesn’t divide with your children, it multiplies, but it didn’t hit home until Taryn arrived, and then I "got" it. I knew I would love both of my children, but I was totally unprepared […]
flyin
Yesterday while at the park with Anne Marie and Brick, Taryn spotted Brick going down the big slide. It’s pretty steep and he dove down it, flew off the end and bit the bark dust with a smile on his face – too funny! Taryn decided to try to be brave and go for it too….only it went down more like this…. you can practically hear the screeching can’t ya? and a quick snap of Ty and Taryn together, so rare, I have to share it. Playing airplane at sunset… I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving tomorrow!!
