I finally caught her in the act.  She’s been opening doors for a few months and it freaks me out every.single.time.  Mostly because we have an alarm and it makes it beep alerting me one of the doors has been opened.  My heart jumps because it means one of the kids went outside unattended without me know or someone (or now somedog) came in.  Of course I quickly realize it’s her simply because she storms inside like an F5 tornado, there is no mistaking the presence of The Beast.  She’s smart.  Really smart.  That’s becoming a blessing and a curse.  I swear she understands everything we say and feel.  I shot […]

Maggie, Maggie Mae, Mags, The Beast.  Hasn’t she grown?! Almost 6 months old, huge and figuring out the ways of the world and our little family.  She’s smart, sometimes too smart.  Even though she’s been doing it for weeks, every single time I see or hear her open a door with her paw it freaks me out.  The first time my heart was racing because I heard the house alarm beep and I thought someone was breaking in to the house!!  She’s finally starting to calm down just a bit.  She still chews, and steals things, but that’s normal for labs.  She knows which toys are hers and loves to […]

Taryn’s gift.

My mom was able to come visit for 5 whole days during the week of Taryn’s birthday.  We were all so thrilled to have her here.  We decided that this year we’d forgo all the big birthday parties for the kids and just take each one to do something special on their special day.  For Taryn, it was really easy for us to pick something we knew she’d love.  Our animal lover has moved from being fascinated with sea horses to dolphins to horses since May.  Jason found several stables that offer lessons in our area and ended up choosing Raymaker […]

Taryn turns 6…

My baby girl is really, really not a baby anymore.  I can’t believe 6 years have gone by.  What a wild ride it has been.  Fun, exasperating, challenging, fun, did I say fun?  She’s this crazy mix of a kid, warm, loving, snuggly.  Painfully shy, yet bold.  Funny, yet reserved.  Above all, she is very, very soft hearted.  She loves animals more than anything in the world, she always has.  She’s just like her daddy in that way, and he’s just like his grandpa.  We all predict she’ll be a tree hugger who changes the world some day.  She loves to think up ways to reuse things, loves the earth, digging in the dirt, being outside, soaking up the sun.  […]

6 on Tuesday: an iphone round up

2011-07-12T21:52:55-05:00July 12th, 2011|My Family|

My husband gasped out loud the other day that I have over 2700 photos on my iphone.  Yeah.  Sad part is, I haven’t backed any of them up or moved anything off since last November.  Bad.  So tonight I decided to do just that while editing.  I thought it would be fun to pull a few things off of it for a 6 on Tuesday iphone roundup post.  You’ve been forewarned of crappy photography and an uncut look in to our family, way more than you probably ever wanted to know, so there.

1.  Duder is obsessed.  No really, like obsessed, with his cars.  Hot wheels.  Total and complete love.  It started over spring break when Ty brought him a few […]

seeking peace, looking back to last november

2011-07-02T22:45:17-05:00July 2nd, 2011|My Family|

While looking through my external drive from last year for something tonight I realized I never posted or shared these.  They are just family snapshots.  I remember this day as a gift.  The kids and I had been running ragged, I was exhausted, I hadn’t even had a shower.  Teagan was improving, but still very sick at this point.  God graced us with a good (no demyelination, etc.) day.  Sans him having some major gut issues that morning, he was having a good day and I immediately knew I needed to get out of the house and where I wanted to go.  […]
