1.  Our Thanksgiving was awesome.  I hope yours was too.  If you want details about ours, you can find them over on Finding Our New Normal, complete with menu and photos.  I get a lot of questions about how we eat so I thought a pretty detailed post would be fun.  I will say all those carbs had me running for salad and extra fermented food for several days.  But maaaaan, it was good.

2.  Speaking of good great food, I got an email yesterday from the Executive Director of the Non-GMO Project.  Shortly after that, this happened.  Way cool right?!  That photo was taken at the Real Food Rally in Austin in October.  You can […]

it’s the little things

I’m pretty sure both of these two are going to be on the naughty list this year.  One for general elf mischief and the other for eating all our food, having a smart mouth and generally stinking up the place.  It’s called being 14 and it is NOT easy, on us, or him.  But that’s why it brings us great joy to watch Bob draw on his big old 20×20 mug.  When you are parenting a teenager, it’s the little things that keep you going.  Little things like rubbing your upper lip every time he walks by saying “I think you’ve got a little sumthin’ sumthin’ on your lip there….”, dancing […]

consider yourself warned…

Last year on Thanksgiving we spent way too much time up in the attic digging through boxes looking for Bob so that he could appear that night after the kids went to bed.  So last year we went and got all smart and decided to keep Bob hidden in the perfect place in the house so that he’d be easily accessible.  Only over the course of the last 11 months, we forgot just where that perfect hiding place was and have spent the last two days tearing the house apart looking for him.  I cannot believe the kids haven’t asked where he […]

Dr. Schwab asked me the other day how long Jase and I have been married.  I fumbled and then said….uh, I’m not sure, a long time!?  HA!  Jase always knows, bless him, he does.  Then he confessed that he takes Taryn’s age and adds one since she was our honeymoon baby.  Well DUH!  Why didn’t I think of that?!?!  From now on, I’ll know, it’s embedded.  I may not have known how long we have been married, but I do know how much we have been married.  A lot.  Intentional, yet difficult at times, it has not been an easy 7 years for us.  Between hurricanes and moving and kids and […]

5 on Tuesday cause I don’t have 10 in me.

1.  Only 5 on Tuesday because I’m barely trucking along on less than 3 hours of sleep.  After Ty’s game last night he got hurt messing around on the sidelines.  Hurt to the tune of an ER trip after a sharp piece of metal dove in to the palm of his hand.  Ouch.  I am not a fan of hospital or ER’s as they tend to question our crunchy ways.  Or really, I tend to question their medical ways a bit more than they are used to and it ruffles feathers and I’m one of “those” people.  Works for me, I like to read labels on medicine bottles and question the necessity of medical interventions.  But I’d rather avoid it […]

His team won their final game of the season tonight!!!!.  His final game at Wiley.  In fact, his team has not lost one single solitary game in the middle school careers.  That’s pretty huge around here.  7th and 8th grade are allowed to play in middle school….undefeated last year and this year.  So these kids have not experienced a single loss.  While I think losing can build character, I also think it’s a pretty amazing feat for these kids as they have worked so hard.  What a huge accomplishment!  I’m very proud of him and the rest of his team.  Way to go Coyotes!!!!  And just like that, we get our […]
