in waiting

Feeling brave today I suppose.  I normally don’t post many photos of myself, much less 10 months pregnant, belly and stretchmarks hanging out.  But this is it.  This is where I am right now.  Exhausted.  Waiting.  Ready.  Jase snapped this of me resting the other night after hours of contractions.  Jonah, we are so ready to have you in our arms, come on out little one.

I’m officially the most pregnant I’ve ever been with any of the kids.  We thought Sunday night was it.  Put everyone on notice, regular contractions 4 minutes apart, intense.  And then suddenly….nothing.  I did this with the 2 little kids as well, lots and lots of pre-labor.  Monday and Tuesday very few contractions, but I was beyond exhausted from not sleeping well.  Super cranky too, so I’ve been laying low and hiding out to not subject everyone to my moods.

I had a midwife appointment and a chiropractic appointment yesterday.  My midwife was pretty sure that Jonah is head down, but not certain.  When we got home, I was super uncomfortable, more so than usual.  I started feeling feet kicks to […]

Taryn loves to text.  We’ve gone searching for our phones more than once only to find out she’d stolen it and was texting people.  Her usual victims are Jason’s younger brother Scott or my mom.  Texting my mom at 6 am not such a big deal, but Scott is rarely up that early.  Sometimes she tells them it’s her, but not always.  So they think it is either Jase or I.  Stinker.  We’ve had more than one “discussion” with her about it.

Last night I had a really rough night and didn’t get much sleep.  And since Duder is still napping at least 2x a week, today was the perfect day to encourage rest.  I got Taryn set up with her […]

What a long 24 hours it has been.  I started having contractions last night.  Last night they weren’t too bad.  Strong enough to make me stop and they took my breath away.  But they weren’t super regular so I didn’t put much thought in to them.  We were busy prepping our new curriculum for Taryn last night that we started today, so I had a lot of distraction.  We got done pretty late, I took a warm bath, had some chamomile and lavender tea and tried to sleep.  Unsuccessfully.  But I tried.  I think the best sleep I got was between 6 and 6:45 am when I needed to get up for the day.  I woke up with a lego […]

The shared nursery.  I think if I had to come up with one word to describe it, I’d choose…..intentional.  That might seem like an odd choice for a nursery but it is true.  In the past I’ve put months and months in to designing and creating the perfect nursery for the other kids.  Especially Jude and Taryn.  Walk down memory lane?  Jude’s nursery here.  Taryn’s here.  For each, it was a room of their own and not a shared space.  Beyond that, we didn’t put much thought in to what was in the room outside of aesthetics.  This room was a whole new ball game, both being a shared […]

his name….and the home stretch

It occurred to me today that we hadn’t yet shared the name we’ve chosen for our baby boy.  We made a decision quite some time ago, I’m not sure why I haven’t shared yet.  Jonah Reid.  We love it.  We love him.  And we can’t wait to meet him.

This pregnancy has flown by.  It’s hard to believe we are sitting at 35+ weeks right now.  Out of all the kids, this pregnancy has, by far, been the easiest.  No sickness, less pain, just….easier.  Of course I’m to the point now where I am over the duration of this Texas heat, beyond uncomfortable and just ready to be done sharing my body.  […]
