Follow along as we experience a boondocking fail. Well, maybe not so much a fail, but we broke down, AGAIN…and something did fail. While starting to set up for our boondocking stay at a Cracker Barrel parking lot, Jason discovers yet another suspension hanger has broke. This time it was the one on our right side…next to our gas line!

Moving on…

Huge life update ahead.

10 years ago I had a list of photographers sitting on my desk. I regularly referred to it because after I shot my first birth I started getting requests to travel. I had 3 children at that time, Jude was just a baby so traveling with the unpredictability of birth was not an option.   I used that list to refer clients. Can you imagine writing out every birth photographer you know and having it be less than 10?! As I photographed more births, I received requests from photographers drawn to birth for me to mentor them. Later that year I started a mentoring program called The Birth Experience. It was a […]

Cousin Erin and the cutest family ever.

One of the best things about traveling fulltime is getting to connect with family we otherwise wouldn’t get to see.  Jason’s dad grew up in Indiana and his uncle lives in Michigan.  We were lucky enough to see Uncle Mark, Aunt Becky, their 3 kids and their families while in Troy.  We even snuck in a little mini session for his cousin Erin and her gorgeous family while having a bbq one evening.  We’d hoped to make it a full family session with a pretty location but our time in the area was cut short due to work and a horrible campground.  I’m so glad we did, it’s fun to get people we love in front of my camera!  Could […]

Mackinac Island Lilac Festival

Today was a day we’ve been looking forward to for a long time! We ventured out to Mackinac Island by ferry. This island is so unique as there are no motorized vehicles allowed so everyone gets around by bicycle or horse taxis. We just happened to land there during the Lilac Festival and were surprised by a parade upon arrival. That meant our carriage tour that we prepaid was not going to happen, but we made the best of it. And totally fell in love with this place!

Happy Father’s Day

Happy Father’s Day to this guy. While so many of our photos share our adventures, some of my most beautiful and cherished memories with him happen in this space. Him behind the wheel, us talking, laughing, dancing. We spend a lot of time sitting next to each other here and I never want to forget it. He’s my best friend and an incredible dad to our kids. And we are so blessed to have him.

Mackinac Bridge

The Mackinac Bridge, with Lake Huron on one side and Lake Michigan on the other, connects the upper peninsula to lower Michigan. I’ve lost count how many times we’ve driven over it already. But tonight was the most beautiful jump across we’ve had yet. Tomorrow, we get to go under it.
