This morning, as I was dozing in and out, trying to convince myself to put at least one foot out of the bed, Jason was up with the kids cooking breakfast. As I dozed out again I felt a little tap on my forehead, just between my eyes. And before I even opened them, I thought it would be Taryn standing there, because that is her old trick. I was so excited when one of my favorite families booked a spring session. I first saw them last year when their littlest guy was brand new. That session resulted in one of my favorite mommy/baby photos of all time. Today, again, we battled the wind but we got some great shots. Just two faves for now….can you believe how big the boys have gotten?!

That little newborn grew into a little boy, he just celebrated his first birthday. I love love love how he growls when he smiles and gets excited, cracked me up, so funny! Little boys rock. Happy Birthday little man….

I still can’t believe it. With three children of my own and having photographed countless numbers of babies…I still can’t believe it. Yes, I have had a few babies throw smiles my way through the years, and they are super cute, but for the most part, they are a result of gas or a little nudge of the cheek. But not this morning. I had the honor of photographing another home birth yesterday and there were not one, but two firsts for me. One, this is the very first birth I’ve photographed where the baby arrived on the actual due date! And, believe it or not, this is the first birth I’ve photographed where the family would be surprised by the gender, believe it or not. I had to really stop and think back through all the births I’ve photographed over the years and I do believe this is the first surprise baby. And surprised they were! I love….that our lives are so intertwined that when I go to look for a photo of one of them, I always have to stop and think about whether it’s mixed in with my family photos or in their “client” folder…..

I love….that my children and theirs are at their happiest when they are together, no matter what they are doing…..

I love…..the little girl giggles and the dress up and the play dates and the long girly telephone calls and the constant scheming to be together.
