undiscovered

Have you seen the video on Vivian Maier? She was an undiscovered street photographer between the 1950’s and 1990’s and oh my word this has me so intrigued. All that work, everything she saw, everything she created and she didn’t even develop all of it. Can you imagine all those rolls of film?! They are seeing things she never saw through. Forty years of work. I cannot imagine. And her work, just wow. I think she’ll find her place in history and the rest of us will get to watch as the raw beauty unfolds. It makes me wonder who else is out there that doesn’t share their gifts, or talents […]

With a heavy heart….

God called upon Alex Laynor last night.  Many of you know his story as I shared it here some time ago.  He fought a long, difficult battle.  He did so with a heart filled with love, a positive attitude and an appreciation for life like no man I’ve ever known.  He inspired so many people.  I’m still amazed that on the day we met, one conversation, one real, raw, open, conversation in a parking lot in downtown Austin with Alex, about his life, his love for his wife, his children and his outlook, unequivocally changed who I am, the way I see my life and the choices I make.  I pray that Danielle, Lexi and Austin and the […]

the birth of john

I connected with this family right away, from the moment I walked in the door for their pre-birth consultation.  Their dynamic, the ages and relationships of their children, all felt so very familiar (minus the baby on the way of course).  Visiting them felt just like being at home!  Their sweet baby boy is a few months old now and I hear growing pretty quick!  He was born at the Austin Area Birthing Center.  I can honestly say that this one was tough for me to stand back and blend in.  They are a riot, I laughed and smiled so much during early labor. A whole lot of smiles and a whole lot of love. This labor [...]

Birth Mentoring & IAPBP Update

Since our garage sale was canceled today (rain, ugh!), I have been trying to catch up on a lot of other lingering little things on my to do list inbetween editing my first session of 2011 and chasing kids…..

I’ve had quite a few inquiries in the past few weeks about whether my mentoring through The Birth Experience will continue.  It was initially planned to end on February 1, 2011.  I have no intentions of the program ending, I have loved it.  So, yes, I am still available for birth photography mentoring for those who wish to grow this area of their business and I am super excited about it!  The forum and mentoring will remain open until […]
