2.  my husband has started a blog.  ’tis true.  i’m calling him out because the secret is that this isn’t the first time.  but it didn’t stick.  i’ve encouraged him so many times to blog.  so i’m calling him out this time so it’s all public and out there in hopes he’ll keep at it.  i think he’s got a lot of valuable things to say.  if he posts more than a few times i’ll come back and share the link…..no […]

1.  For those of you waiting on the Birth Experience Mentoring – IT IS COMING!  I promise!  I just want it to be good.  And real.  And informative.  And valuable.  I want to do it right or not at all.  More info on it coming soon, but in the meantime, thank you for your patience!

2.  A little good news.  Taryn took 5 bites of food today.  Doesn’t sound like much but I’m thrilled with it.  She’s down several pounds and didn’t have it to loose.  I am hopeful for that magic moment when she will just start eating again.  She had some damage to her tongue and cheeks when intubated and I think that is causing her not to […]

praying for strength or a margarita

But I’d take both.

It’s been a long couple of days.  Taryn was discharged from the hospital on Thursday.  Very thankful for that.  The hard part….Wednesday, after being at the hospital all day, Jase brought the boys home for the night and Ty came down with a cough and fever.  The next morning, Jase brought him straight to our pedi and thankfully, they don’t think it’s the flu.  We informed Taryn’s caregivers in the hospital that Ty was sick and were told we could only bring her home if we sanitized every.single.thing, the children wore masks and we quarantined them into separate rooms.  Yeah, not fun.  We totally understand though because Taryn’s wound sites are larger than normal and even the […]

the surgery

2009-09-24T06:25:20-05:00September 24th, 2009|My Family|

Yesterday we got up early for Taryn’s surgery.  We had to leave the house at 9:30 am and since she wasn’t allowed to eat or drink anything, I took her out for a walk while Teagan and Jase ate.  Ty had already eaten before she got up, so he went a long.  It was a bit cold (oh my word, can you even believe it Texas?!) and drizzling, but we managed to fight off the rain long enough for the little dude to eat.  Down to the end of the block and back a few times.  She and Ty raced, and like always, he let her win.

Just a quick note to let everyone know that I will be out of reach for awhile.  Taryn goes in for her surgery tomorrow morning.  I will not be answering emails or voicemail until she gets home later this week and she’s settled in and on her way to recovering.  If you need to reach me, please send me an email and I’ll get back in touch with you just as soon as I can, most likely over the weekend.  Ty’s school project ice cream winners will also be announced this weekend, so be sure to watch for that!

If you have a moment to send up a prayer for our girl, we’d sure appreciate it.  She’s in a pretty fragile […]

1.  Taryn shocked us all just 1 day after breaking her arm when she sat down and wrote out the entire alphabet with ease with her left hand.  She’s right handed!

Jase was watching her and told her how “awesome” she is that she can do that.  Still on a lot of pain meds, she absolutely fell apart…..”d-d-d-d-d-d-don’t c-c-c-c-c-c-call meeeee awe-some”.  Poor girl, she had an emotional few days that required lots of love, hugs and an unreal amount of patience.

2. This little one is still having a hard time adjusting to one nap a day.  And by hard time, I mean, falls asleep in random places all over the house mid […]
