friday | austin photographer

1.  SO glad friday is here.  This week was totally craptastic.  Truly, it was.  A broken vehicle remedied by trading it in.  A broken dishwasher remedied by a service call amounting to $125 for less than 15 minutes of service time.  One extremely onery 4 year old.  One 12 year old who is struggling in 3 classes and had one week (this week) to pull the grades up just under the wire.  We did it though.  And I do me ‘WE’.  One kid in urgent care for the better part of Sunday.  Same kid took a fall yesterday at the dino park and landed in the ER with a severed/sliced tongue (ouch!) and a big fat lip.

They decided it should heal on its own rather than put him under to put it back together.  We were happy to hear that, due to his tracheomalacia it’s always a risk to put him under anesthesia.  Duder was just pretty ticked off at the world yesterday.  Tired, in pain, bleeding, hungry.  They said it will bleed for a few days and heal in a few weeks.  Yesterday afternoon he sat on the couch and yelled at his binky for a good 10 minutes since he couldn’t use it.  He also opted to whack Ty in the head instead of the usual hug the moment he saw him.  It was difficult to eat, talk, just everything.  He’s doing better today, thankfully, yesterday was rough stuff.  He’s on some kick butt antibiotics to fend off infection.  Especially because his first instinct was to put his hand (covered in sand) in his mouth when he hurt it.  I had water with me and rinsed his mouth out right away, but we still need to watch him closely this week.  And thank you Libby for helping us get out of there and to the ER so quickly, I really appreciate it!

2.  All of those things combined we easily spent in excess of $25K this week (counting our new slackerwagon).  Uggggghhhh, talk about an expensive week!

3.  I absolutely LOVE this take on big families… true, so funny!

4.  I’ve been meaning to come share this for awhile.  New packaging for my birth clients including a custom image box filled with their sample prints and a custom disk case, both designed by the fabulous Tina Parker.  Forgive the cruddy photo, I’m not a product photographer, they are gorgeous in person!

5.  And LOOK!  My friend Tami is doing A GIVEAWAY!!  Go check it out!

Now I’m off to work on a few blog posts for this weekend, I need to pack up all my stuff for my newborn session in the morning, yet another round of Words With Friends and then SLEEP, glorious, SLEEP!

10 on Tuesday | austin photographer

1.  I am pacing our house right now waiting for ty to get home and tell me all about his day with MICHAEL PHELPS.  Yes, you read that right!  Crazy huh?!?  Ty was one of a handful of kids that were chosen to meet the olympic champion.  How freaking cool is that?!?!  I SO wanted to go and bring my camera, but they said no.  Something about a media release agreement or something or other.  Blah, Blah, Blah, Boo….Ty was psyched and I can’t wait to hear all about it!

2.  Little T is on her way back.  It’s been a tough road, and she’s not there yet.  But she will be soon.  We’re all pretty happy about that.

3.  Do you like surprises?  I do.  At least the fun kind.  I usually try to throw in a fun little surprise into each package I send my clients.  I like to change things up every so often, so you never know what fun little extra will appear in your package from me.  From now until Christmas each client will receive 2 of these keychains with images from their session.  Just cause.

Fun little extras rock!

4.  Speaking of fun stuff…..Head on over and check out Jodie’s post on the Fresh Art blog today.  You’ll find all kinds of fun craft stuff to do with your kids and a photo I took that she blew up on canvas for her office.  Love it all.

5.  I absolutely LOVE this concept of a bubble wrap calendar.  My fear is that my children will have popped them all on January 1 by 9:42 am.

6.  Our coffee maker when kaput a few weeks ago.  Not good timing since a) it’s busy season and I need caffeine and b)  my patience needs an extra little kick each day to deal with a certain sickie with a smile.  Jase had his eye on a Krups machine awhile back so he went ahead and ordered it using our bank rewards card points.  Problem….lord only knows how long it will take to get here.  One of the special little kups arrived this week but fat lot of good that does a caffeine deprived momma.  So instead I’ve been making almost daily trips to starbucks for a pumpkin spice latte.  mmmmmmm.  so good.  but not for my wallet.  I could have drove across 5 states, picked up the stupid new Krups machine, drove back and still spent less money.

7.  I wish we would have done this in Teagan’s room.  Who knew it was so easy and so stylish to make your own toddler bed?  And for $75 for 2!  Can’t beat that.

8.  I’m about to buy a new lens.  I just need to figure out which one….

9.  The 2nd Annual Life in Motion Photography Halloween fundraiser is just around the corner.  I am super excited about it!  Last year, we went small and still raised a lot of funds for a good cause.  This year, MC and I are going bigger!  Much, much bigger and I couldn’t be more thrilled about both seeing so many kids in cute costumes and donating a big old chuck of cash to cancer research.  MC lined up 50 families this year (crazy!!!).  All the spots filled up fast and we couldn’t be more thrilled.  If you like cute kids in cute costumes, stay tuned, there is about to be an abundance of that around here!!!

10.  I’m off to catch up on some email.  I’m too far behind!  Again!!

product highlight | custom designed image boxes | austin birth photographer

Image boxes are hands down my favorite product.  When they land on my door step I run to tear open the package because I just can’t wait to have it in my hands and ohhhhh and ahhhhh over it.  They are substantial and sturdy and just oh so gorgeous.  I’ve been doing these for my birth clients this year and I’ve been meaning to come share some photos for awhile.  Image boxes are custom designed for each birth client and can include the birth date, birth stats, name as well as customizable text down the spine.  And if the gorgeous box wasn’t enough, when you open it up, all the birth proofs sit perfectly inside, complete with a ribbon for easy print removal and magnetic closure.

The perfect keepsake to remember your child’s birth day.  If you’d like more information on birth photography packages and pricing, please contact me at [email protected] or visit my birth photography website “The Birth Experience” at

**Portrait clients:  Watch your email around the first of the year for an entire new product line including these image boxes that can be purchased in lieu of a traditional album when you purchase all the images from your session.**

new product | austin photographer lyndsay stradtner

Over the course of the next month I will be adding new products and specialty items available to Life in Motion Photography clients.  I am really excited about the items I’ve gathered so far and thought I’d come share just this one today.  I was over checking out Kim’s blog not too long ago and saw these cute custom wall letters.  Thanks Kim for letting me share your idea with my clients!  The possibilities are endless, I can edit the colors, fonts, text, etc.  I love first names, but using your last name or spelling out “family” or “love” or “brothers”…..there are just so many options!

I ordered these as samples this morning and will share photos of them when they come in.  Each image/letter is a 5×10 print mounted to styrene and sprayed for durability.  No frame necessary.  You can lean them on a shelf or even velcroe them to the wall.

Clients, if you’d like to purchase a set of custom letter prints from a previous session, feel free to contact me at [email protected] for details and pricing!

if anne marie had twins

Well, if Anne Marie had twins they would likely be in the same photograph, but I thought the title might make her spit water through her nose 😉

Each one is a 16×20 gallery wrap canvas, I ordered one for me to use as a sample and one for her. Pardon the bad product photography, they are so gorgeous in person!

And there is a little sneak peek of our new wall color (bye bye builder beige!). It’s a pretty minty green that sometimes looks a little blue as the light changes throughout the day. I love it!
