jesse & woody

These two are something else.  Partners in crime.  Duder was not in the mood for photos and spent most of our time yelling “no!”  The only smiles and moderate cooperation were thanks to Taryn hiding behind me and popping up to surprise him. I love my sassy Jesse and my grouchy little Woody.

But thankfully, even after a really rough night for Teagan last night, he had a much better day and we all had a blast today.  A few things I always want to remember about this Halloween….

  • We’ve reached the end of me choosing or having a say in their costumes, this was all them.  Thanks mom for picking them up for the kids!
  • Teagan insisting we play Monster Mash on repeat all day long and that we shake our booties.
  • There is a string of iphone videos of these two in costume that is hands down hilarious.  I need to merge them all together and share them.  Soon.  Ish.
  • Taryn was permanently attached to our legs, absolutely unwilling to go up to a door at first, and then when she did she refused to speak.  When I asked her why she looked at my like I was totally crazy and said “I don’t talk to people I don’t know!!”  But midway through she was good, just had to get there in her own time and in her own way.
  • Teagan, on the other hand talked to every single person he came in contact with.  He marched right up to the first house and every single one after it, said “trick-or-treat” and “yee haw” and “thank you”.  He even threw in a few “see you later guys” for good measure.
  • Crazy they are from the same gene pool right?
  • Taryn asked me tonight about all the costumes she has worn over the years.  I had to really stop and think….a ladybug, a monkey, a pig, a dog, a buzz lightyear and now a jesse.  Teagan has been a monster, a karate kid and Woody.  I wonder if I could recount Ty and 13 Halloween costumes.  Maybe, but I’ll need some coffee first!
  • We got to hang out with and visit friends, so thankful for them.
  • Our ‘trade your candy for junk I would never normally buy store’ worked like a charm.  They loved it and happily traded their candy for the prizes!  My mom rocks.
  • I didn’t take one photo of Ty in his costume.  Total bummer.  He ditched us like hot potatoes.  Ah well, I can’t blame him for wanting to be with his friends.
  • Duder was really upset when he figured out Ty wasn’t going out trick-or-treating with us.  He laid it on thick, cried, pouted and demanded (not so nicely) one more “hug and tiss” before Ty headed out.  And then scowled some more.
  • Thank you to my dear friend Sara for the red glitter boots!  She got them for T for her birthday this summer and I’m so glad they still fit her for Halloween.  She has been stomping around in them for months and she got a lot of compliments on them tonight.
  • Duder’s candy bag got a lot too.  I can’t wait to start using it as my trinket and goodie bag at sessions.
  • The green nail polish on T….leftover from when my mom was here last week.  So not something I would do.  But I’m the mom and a stick in the mud.  The gee is fun.  And the gee said yes to green nail polish.  I’m glad she did because now that she’s returned home, it makes me smile.  Miss you mom!

10 on Tuesday | Cedar Park Photographer

1.  All our kids woke up at 6 am this morning.  Two, and I’ll let you guess which two, were screaming.  By 8 am, Teagan announced “Momma!!!!!  I so grouchy”  LOL!!!  It sounded so funny coming out of his mouth!  But he was right on, it was true!

2.  I love the way Taryn says “armadillo”…..”arm-a-jello”.  We try and work it into family conversation daily.  No easy task, try it sometime.  Totally worth it around here.

3.  We’re having our family photos taken this weekend coming and I haven’t even given a first thought to what we are going to wear.  If I were to stop and think about it, I would totally panic!!!  Anyone want to dress us???

4.  A photographer friend, Nicole, posted this recipe on her facebook feed the other day.  We tried it tonight and it was sooooo delish.  Definite hit at our house we’ll be having again and again.

5.  You know what babylegs are good for?  Dressing up a broken arm.  For real.  T’s cast is scratchy and rough and a quick little babyleg to cover it up and voile!  Stylin’, soft and it stays dry if it starts to rain when we are out and about.

6.  My latest etsy purchase…..this.  It came today and I love it!

7.  I really wanted to buy these too but showed a bit of restraint.  Honestly, restraint only goes so far….cause I bought this too.

8.  I updated the For Sale page to add some Pottery Barn Twin Size Bedding.  There are a few other things still available if you want to take a peek.

9.  Clients, if you’ve placed your order recently, check your email & watch your mail!  Jase and I pulled a late night last night and all orders have been completed, packaged and are shipping out tomorrow.  Finally all caught up in that regard.  I’m working on this little cuties proofs now and then watch for the halloween fundraiser photos, lots of those coming!  I also have lots of personal and family stuff to share, including photos of baby jack, our trip to the pumpkin patch and even a little tea party from way back when we visited my mom.  Lots to share, just need more hours in my day!!

10.  Ah, I’ll be in big trouble if I don’t post at least one fundraiser photo.  What to post?…..What to post?  This cute little bumble bee caught my eye 😉

Benefit supporting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

My friend and mentee MC is participating in Team in Training and we came up with a fun and easy way to raise some money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, a very worthy cause. Cancer touched our family this year, Jason’s dad was diagnosed with kidney cancer. The word cancer is scary, and when it finds it’s way into your family, it changes things in an instant. We’re so lucky and thankful that Jason’s dad was able to beat it, is healthy and strong today, without facing chemo.  There are so many people out there fighting cancer, and every single penny counts.

As a way to help raise money, MC hosted a halloween costume party and I donated my photography services. A huge THANK YOU to everyone who attended and so generously donated! It was a wonderful success and lots of fun! Here are a couple of the cute kiddos who came to play….first up, MC’s little monkey….he thought I was pretty funny!

quite possibly the cutest little lady bug in all of Austin….

these two are making their second appearance here on the blog, mini session clients (and he graces the front page of my website)!  I so want J to be Taryn’s bud and his mom tells me that while I was working, he and T were hanging out in the air jump thingy.  i can’t even take in all this cuteness.  mom sat him down, he looked at me just like this and smiled big.  dream baby.  so, so happy.

and look how big ms. calla is!  and she’s quick too, i could barely catch her….

never fear, mr. incredible is here!  and just in case you can’t tell, the fists are him flexing LOL!

the little mermaid and her octopus sidekick.  i’m totally amazed that her mom MADE the mermaid costume!  it’s seriously gorgeous, i’m impressed!

made me giggle….

The entire Stradtner clan was there but I decided to spare my own children the torture of being photographed.  We had a great time, I think it’s safe to say that MC throws a great party!!  I love doing charity work, it sure does feel good!
