after the worst road trip in the history of stradtner road trips last summer, we swore off going anywhere with our kids for a long time.  which is saying a lot, because we love to travel.  we used to just take off exploring all the time when it was just me, jase and ty. this time, we got smart, we fed the beasts, bathed them and put them in their jammies before heading out.  less complaining, less potty stops and easier on us.  we both cracked up when this popped up on our GPS…

we decided to stop and get a few things for the road before the kids konked out for the night.  jase was supposed to just run in and get an energy drink….but 15 minutes later he pulls out half melted ice cream cones from the bag.  oh yeah (can you sense my sarcasim?) fun stuff.  drip, drip, drip.  stop number two to ditch the ice cream cones, clean the kids and get back on the road.  two stops before we hit south austin, ha.  but, the kids fell asleep and all was calm and peaceful.  that’s when the boredom set in…

this was after jase drank his energy drink!  now you guys know what it’s like to sit in the car with jase when he’s driving!  hahaha!  i’m so funny!  ((for the record, jase won’t think this is funny at all.  his driving is the main thing we argue about)).  that’s alright, i know it’s funny 😉  and true.  booh-ya.

we didn’t realize until this weekend just how long it had been since we’d been down to corpus.  we took off with the kids to go see jason’s parents and grandparents.  his grandmother had heart surgery and we’ve been anxious to go visit her.  we had a nice visit, the kids had a blast and I am pretty sure they wore their grandparents out (and vice versa).  saturday night after a fun trip to gattiland, ty and taryn had a sleepover and jase, teagan and I went back to the hotel.  we ((unwisely)) left the pack-n-play at home so teagan needed to sleep between us.  it was, uhm, interesting.  this is not even close to being in focus, jase just grabbed the camera really quick and shot, but it’s too funny to not share.  this is how i woke up…notice the honking of my nose…

Taryn kept the grandparents busy, with play-doh, feeding the seagulls, playing cars in the hallway and blowing bubbles….chasing bubbles is corpus wind is hard work, you gotta be fast!

but if you ask her what her absolute favorite thing about the weekend was, hands down, easy answer:  jumping stones with grandma.  I love that simple things totally amuse her.

Ty was there too, promise.  He got sick the last day, I feel so bad for him.  He never gets sick and he hates it when he does.  And with the kids awake, tired and bladders that miraculously can’t hold it more than 20 miles at a time, it was a long trip home.  But we had a nice visit and we’re so glad to have visited both sets of grandparents this weekend.

ps – thanks for all the warm wishes and prayers in the post below.  I still can’t fully wrap my mind around it.  and honestly, I didn’t even try to this weekend, I just enjoyed my family.

pps – if you sent me an email, I’ll be catching up with everything tomorrow and tuesday after being gone all weekend.
