february 365 project leftovers | 365 Project

Well, I’ve made it 2 months!  I’m counting that as an accomplishment worth celebrating!  Last month I posted all my favorite leftovers that didn’t make it in to the 365 and thought I’d do that for February too.  Every day life, their memories.  Lots of reading, a month visit from my mom, practicing music, lots of Bible study, Valentines Daddy Daughter Dance, Jude’s birthday, a new tetherball, even more reading, naps, lots of Legos, devotionals, Taryn is planning to write a book, lots of school work, and a field trip to Pioneer Farms.  It was a good month.

busted.

I finally caught her in the act.  She’s been opening doors for a few months and it freaks me out every.single.time.  Mostly because we have an alarm and it makes it beep alerting me one of the doors has been opened.  My heart jumps because it means one of the kids went outside unattended without me know or someone (or now somedog) came in.  Of course I quickly realize it’s her simply because she storms inside like an F5 tornado, there is no mistaking the presence of The Beast.  She’s smart.  Really smart.  That’s becoming a blessing and a curse.  I swear she understands everything we say and feel.  I shot these through the living room window looking out to the back porch.  The last one is my fave.  She looks unamused by me.  Yes, her look says “just unlock the door already woman”.  HA!  And of course I did.  Now if I could just teach her to close the door behind her when she lets herself in, that would be awesome.

spontaneous moments are the best….

We had new non-toxic flooring put in the little kids room yesterday (finally!  after months of research and ordering and reactions and reordering and and and…..).  I decided to take advantage of an empty room with great light this afternoon because I really wanted to take an updated photo of Maggie.  She’s grown so much.  When I was done, I was just sitting, talking to Duder and playing with Maggie.  I started to chimp through the photos on my camera when I looked up and this happened….

God, I love ’em.

10 on Tuesday

1.  I swear I haven’t fallen off the face of the earth.  I’m here.  Working away.  Feeding my family healthy (and time consuming) food, finding a new level of health not only for my children, but also, finally, for myself (also very time consuming) and appreciating all the support and love my family has thrown my way.

2.  On Mother’s Day.  I woke up to Teagan standing at our bedroom door yelling “How I got all wet?!  Why I all wet?!”  It was a little accusing.  His diaper leaked and the poor kid was wet up to his chin.  I think he was a bit paranoid since every now and then we’ll sneak in to the bathroom while Ty is showering and dump cold ice water over the curtain rod.  Taryn and Teagan think this is hilarious.  Ty does not.  It brings back awesome memories of my childhood.  My step-dad is a pretty quiet and reserved guy but every now and then while my mom was showering I’d see him with a big cup of ice water trudging up the stairs laughing under this breath.  Then I’d hear a high pitched scream, at least one curse word and then down he’d come cracking up laughing even harder.  Good times.  I sure did miss my mom on Mother’s Day.

3.  My one Mother’s Day wish was to have a photo of me and the kids together.  It has been a really long time since one was taken.  The group photo was a fail (5 letters, starts with T, ends with N and has blonde hair on top) but Jase did so great and caught some wonderful shots that I know I’ll treasure forever.  This makes my heart smile so big I can barely take it.

4.  My mom crinkles her nose just like I do.  It always reminds me of her when I see it.  My girl and I are planning a trip to NOLA in a few weeks to visit my mom.  A girls weekend away, just us.  I absolutely cannot wait.  I miss traveling so very much, but it just isn’t possible with Teagan.  Even with just Taryn it will be a challenge with her food allergies but I think we can do it.  I’m going to give it my best shot….I miss my mom something fierce.  I never dreamed when we moved here that we wouldn’t be able to travel as a family anymore.  Hard, very hard.  It makes this trip for girls all the more sweet though too.

5.  Teagan’s new favorite phrase is “Why Come?”  Love it.

6.  I am totally humbled that over 30 people applied for the position open with birthphotographers.com.  So many very qualified people, I predict having a hard time choosing just the right person.  Soon, very soon!  This is such an exciting time for  birthphotographers.com.

7.  I’ve totally fallen off my one frame a day wagon.  I’m sad about it.  I do have a few photos to post.  Man I did so good for awhile.  And then I was forced to address some health issues and my days got full and long the camera and every day moments got lost.  I hope to return to it soon and forgive myself in the process.

8.  Duder has been doing really great.  He’s healthier than ever right now and it has been so amazing to watch.  I’m so very proud of him and all of his progress.

9.  I have been an entire month without any sugar at all.  No carbs, no dairy, no gluten, no processed foods, no red meat, no fruit.  Organic veggies, chicken, fish, eggs. lentils and rice and that is about it.  I thought it would be hell to eat like this, but it hasn’t been that bad.  It really hasn’t.  The food has been the easy part.  I’ll explain more on my personal blog soon.  That photo up there, that is the first time in years I haven’t touched up a double chin on myself in a photo.  53 lbs lost in the last 11 months and still making progress each day.

10.  Maggie is big.  I caught some adorable photos of Maggie and Teagan today, I just need time to proof them.  Huge, I tell ya.

Maggie & T

I’ve had this post open on my blog for days….I seem to be behind on everything as we’ve had a few long days for a variety of reasons.  So I’m finally going to hit publish and then go tackle my insane inbox….

My girls.  We tried this when Maggie was “on” and in full on puppy play mode and it just was not working!  Funny, but not working.  So we waited until she fell asleep and then tried again.  Worked like a charm even if she does appear a bit groggy.  Taryn is in love with these.  She’s in love with Maggie and is so very smitten with her.  Taryn is a big reason we decided to get another dog…she’s our little animal lover.  Doesn’t matter the animal, she’s got a soft heart from rolly pollies all the way up to horses.  Her daddy is that way and it is one of the reasons I fell in love with him.  He got it from his Grandpa.  Seeing those 3 Stradtners in the same room together with an animal makes me smile every time.  T would bring home every stray imaginable if we let her.  In fact, when we got Maggie she declared she wasn’t a one or a two dog person, she’s a ten dog person!  HA!  Not happening on my watch kid!  Yes, these two are inseparable already….

busted.

It’s a good thing she’s cute.

Oh my word does this dog chew on every.stinkin.thing!  She’s a chewing machine.  We have chew toys for her but she is mischief through and through.  She’s a blast though too.  I was thinking of all the things she’s gotten in to just since Saturday and I’m pretty sure it would be easier to list the things she hasn’t chewed on….sigh.  Right now her favorites are Jason’s robe in the morning.  It totally cracks me up to see him all groggy meandering through the house with the puppy attached to the bottom of his rob in full on playful attack mode.  He just keeps meandering and she just keeps flopping her little head and ears from side to side, hilarious.  She loves dragging Kylies bed all over the house too.  It is around 20x her size but she doesn’t really care, our girl likes the challenge.  And poor Kylie could care less, she still finds it to sleep when she needs it.  I swear she’s rolling her eyes at puppy antics too.  Maggie also loves our outside broom that sits on the back porch.  She carts it all over the place and we’ve even had to stop her from bringing it inside several times today….

Hmmm, what else has she chewed?  The carpet, the outside doormats, the living room curtains, she darted out of Ty’s room yesterday with a bottle of his cologne that had been on his nightstand, a book, a magazine, Teagan’s blankie, one slipper, 4 shoes, one kids seat cushion, a Mr. Potato Head arm, my back porch rocking chair legs, the baby proof contraption on the entertainment center, a tag reader pen, the rug in the playroom, and the funniest yet, I spotted her running through the house with a binkie in her mouth.  I grabbed it quick before Teagan saw her and lost his cool.  Those are off limits Maggie Mae!  Yes, lots of positive correction and the constant offering of chew toys at our house!!  She really is doing so well though.  In fact, yesterday she went and sat by the back door to let us know that she needed to go out to potty.  After only a couple of days!  She’s so super smart.  She sleeps through the night as well and hasn’t had an accident in her crate so far.  As long as week keep her entertained and tired, we’re good.  That’s the great part about 5 people in the house, there is always someone to play with and pester!  Teagan and I put her on the leash yesterday and of course her main goal was to chew it up.  It took a good 5 minutes to get her down the driveway, she was not having it.  But once we go to the sidewalk I put Teagan out in front of us and off we went, happy as can be, walking right along.  Of course there was a lot of stopping to sniff every little thing, but I was really surprised she did so well.  I’m training her to walk only on my right side because for some reason Kylie switches sides constantly and it drives me bonkers.  I’ve learned that a walk down to the bridge and back earns a nice long puppy nap so we do that often!  HA!  Teagan loves it to and it has been good for all of us.  Coming soon:  photos of Taryn with Maggie Mae!
