I got the call from my friend Anne Marie this morning to be on standby because she believed she was in active labor and it was time for her to head to the hospital. She decided to give it another hour. When that hour was up I got another call, she and Bryan were in the car on the way to the hospital! Yay!!! I grabbed my camera and took off.
Calla arrived at 2:36 pm and weighed in at 7 lbs 6 oz. Mommy and baby are doing great!
I am still reeling from the day and beyond honored that they asked me to photograph their daughter’s birth. It was such an amazing experience. I can’t wait to go through all the photos from today, so many little detail shots I am already in love with. But just witnessing this little one come into the world, their birth experience and love and support for one another is something I can’t even describe. Thanks you guys for letting me capture it and congratulations from the entire Stradtner family!
She is beautiful. Brick is a lucky big brother! I wish I would have had someone like you there to photograph my daughter’s birth.
Aw! She’s gorgeous. I just checked her blog this weekend and saw her “pre-labor” post. So exciting. 🙂
hey there, fellow photographer here… stumbled upon your blog through someone else’s… would you mind telling me what you set your camera on to get this gorgeous shot…. it’s so clear and not grainy! Also, what were the lighting conditions where you were shooting? Thanks so much for the tips!
Hey there – thanks for the comments!
Christine – I shot this with a 5D, 50 mm 1.2 USM L lens set at f/2.8, 1/100 and ISO 1600. I love the way the 5D handles noise, there was very little but I used Imagnomic’s Professional Noiseware at a reduced low opacity to smooth it out a little. The lighting was above and behind her (florescent – no windows in the room) and I bounced my speedlight off the wall behind me. I hope this helps!
beautiful. plum beautiful.
will you come to east tn on thursday and shoot some pics for me?
just kidding.
i do love these, and only hope to capture some precious shots of my new little one!

Lyndsay, we can’t thank you enough to being there to capture this! We’re all happily home and doing great. Can’t wait to see the rest of your shots.
thank you so much for taking the time to give me the specs on this photo…. beeeeeaautiful work as always! i so appreciate this! i have the 30D… i haven’t earned the 5D if you know what I mean… and I use Noise Ninja for my noise reduction but I haven’t mastered it yet. Anyway, thanks again! I’m still somewhat new at this (a year and a half) so I’d love feedback on my photos if you enjoy that sort of thing. http://www.dasweets.blogspot.com Merry Christmas!
